The competition dark horse Water Sports from Ethiopia continued their surprises and came from one set behind to clinch 3-1 victory (17-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-14) over Bejaia in 85 minutes. Water Sports plays for the 5th and 6th positions which is the best in their history after the 7th position in 2009, and Bejaia plays for the 7 and 8 standings.

Bejaia started the match in a very good performance that allowed them to win the first set comfortably but the Ethiopian team returned back rapidly and arranged their combination to win three successive sets through the efficient spikers T Yopil and Rahel.

    Play off 9-12

St Denis club of Reunion continued their steady performance to over power KC Bank of Kenya in straight sets 25-20, 25-21, 26-24 in 77 minutes

The Reunion team plays for the 9 and 10 positions in their first ever African participation while KCB plays for the 11 and 12 standings which is the worst in their history.

Efoulan of Cameroon played their best match in their first ever appearance in the African showpiece and hammered the more experienced Naceria team of Algeria 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-23). Efoulan controlled the match through their disciplined backline defense and block and thus they didn’t allow the Algerians to use their tall players by the net.

    Play off 13-16
