Is there any chance to USA qualify if Poland loses by 3x0 or 3x1? i can't believe they are out
2014 FIVB World Championship - Poland - 8/30

It is very sad the the main opponent of Brazil which could win the title is out before the top 6 phase. I am happy for Iran, but this draw and tournament system robbed USA.
-
Oh my, that joy of Iranian guys You deserved it so much, guys! I'm so proud of them.
Hopefully Poles and French guys will give us a nice performance today

Not a happy USA fan at this point. But Argentina played like they were in the final match today. Now, why can't they always play like that?
The USA blew big leads in the 2nd and 4th sets. The loss of the 2nd set lead really killed the team. I mean the US would have been up 2-0, Argentina probably packs it in and loses in 3.
It is really weird, in the Phase 2 matches, the US has only substituted David Smith for David Lee. There have been no other changes. To me it felt like there needed to be change to say, we need something else today. But Speraw just could not do that for some reason.
I think that this will help the team down the road, but I thought that the USA still had a good chance, having beaten Brazil previously.
Iran will survive into the next round. They came through a really difficult pool in the first round and even more tough teams in the second. Can they beat Brazil or Russia?
Canada and Germany can you provide as much entertainment?

Oh my god,
Iran is now in the top 6
thank you velasco thank you Covak -

Even if Poland loses 0-3 they will have better set ratio, so USA is definitely out...

Did fivb saved money from the servers on the new site? I can't see anything

I admire the on-court behaviour of John Speraw. Respect! Such a tough situation, wrong referee's call, your team losing, yet he's not complaining, not criticizing, keeping his composure and just doing his job the best he can. That's how a coach should look like! Unfortunately, team USA is out. I wanted them to make it to the next round, though. But we'll bee seeing more from Iran then
Yes, that's true. In the match vs Iran, the referee made a very controversial call at match point during deuce in tie-break. John Speraw protested, but in a very graceful manner. In the post-match interview and press conference, the coach and players didn't mention it at all. I recall Taylor Sander only said that it's unfortunate that the match ended in such a way, but he went on to say what the US team was lacking in causing this loss. Think about the same thing happening on teams like Brazil and Italy, and you can see the difference.

A lot of emotions today. Few injuries onduring match Brazil - Russia - Moroz ;(, Walace, Sidao, Murilo
Huge surprise by Argentina which made me happy
And checking stats from Serbia - Iran: Ghafour was just a monster 28/40 spikes - 70% efficiency and he added 2 blocks

Thanks, it is a pitty really, they really deserved, and even tough it was all because their fault, i see them better than some teams in F6, with good chance to get a medal, they just could not keep the rythm in this long tournmanet, certainly the lack of a good bench players helped it, Lotman commented about the hard schedule, and that it was difficult to recover from last match, but it is for anyone....
In other way it allows the brave and great Iranian team to the F6, and secure the host to keep the party on

Probably they saved , there are lots of problems with this website and it just gets broken in key moments

Let them play first and judge afterwards
Whoever goes through tonight, maybe won't be darling of volleyball fans, but they shouldn't care. I just hope for a mixed pool in third round, so that we can fill these senseless discussions (Team A would never beat Team D.. bla bla) with a bit of substance.Just to say, i wish all injured player from Brazil/Russia that they recover quick and that their injuries don't turn out to be serious
-
Big Congrats to Team Iran! They truly deserve this ticket to F6 with such a tough draw. I think this tournament has really proved that Iran is among the top 6 teams of the world. With all the best wishes, I hope they can go way further!

the video-check is so disgraceful, really.
No, video-check is a great idea. The way of its use by referees is what have to improve.

I wonder where Todorov's block went. He was 3 years in a row in the top 2 or 3 in blocking in Russia. I've seen him making 10 blocks in 3 sets, 12 blocks in 5, deciding the match with France for the OG 2012 and now his block was very average. At least his attack is working better than before, but couldn't he do them both? Our attack worked mostly on pipe and with MB's and that's why Zhekov was our only player in top 10 in stats. The only stable player for Bulgaria in this championship.

I second that!
What is the situation with Brazil and Russia's injuries now? This is terrible news but both teams did it to themselves. They could've rested their key players in this meaningless match. And with the injuries now they are weakened which makes the F6 even more contested.
Is it just me or the level of volleyball has increased a bit (or maybe decreased) and we have much more teams competing for the top prizes. We have Iran and France in the very very elite (Iran has never been here and France was having sporadic performances). And even with Italy and Bulgaria as punching bags, we had 10 teams fighting (almost) on equal terms for the 6 spots.

Triglav, I wrote that about the level before you - everybody has top setters and defense, a lot of quick plays and good technique in attack, lots of analytical work done by coaches, excellent physical preparation in terms of endurance.
