2012 XI Women’s Pan American Cup (July 12-20, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico)

  • How many blocks made Lloyd? I'm curious.

    4 against Columbia

  • 4 against Columbia

And 1 against Puerto Rico ^^

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • So she made 200000 block a match only in Italy! Let's see what will do in the next games

It's possible, you just have to believe in yourself and really not care what other people say, because I've heard it all.
If you let someone else dictate what you're going to do in life, then you won't get there.

Non so neanche come onestamente: in due mesi ero di nuovo in campo.

  • Actually, up to now, she scored in average 1 block per set. That is something most MBs don't even achieve...

    ?!?!?!?!?!?

Which part did you not understand? Lloyd so far played 5 sets and scored 5 blocks, that makes one block per set. If you look at statistics from tournaments, you can see that this is a very good average. For example, in WGP, Thaisa became best blocker with 1,05 blocks per set, everyone else was below 0,90. As comparison, Alisha Glass had 0,26 blocks per set in WGP final round. Of course, Lloyd's average is likely to go down when she plays more, but still it seems you did not really understand that 5 blocks in 5 sets is a really good number. Even the best blockers in the world don't get 7-8 blocks in every match

  • Another loss by DOM in tiebreak after 2-0 :aww: thanks to this they have to play in QF with Peru, in 2nd will play Cuba vs. Argentina. USA and Brazil are in semis.

  • I watch the gama USA vs Dominican Republic. It was a very well played game from both sides, specially in the first two sets, very contested game with great plays from both teams.
The final result meant that USA qualifies to semifinals, but more importantly, qualifies to GP2013. DR will play 1/4 finals against Peru.
USA finally played with full force and dedication, with great performaces from Richards and Metcalf.
On the dominican side, Bethania de la Cruz joined the team for the first time and did a decent job considering it was her first game after the mild surgery she had few weeks ago.
Anyways, a good game to watch, and it is available online:

  • Peru doesn't have a chance to win over DR.
But if Canada won the match against Cuba,Argentina -with Pinedo on court- have chances to win. :wall:
Cuba must win! no matter what.

  • I watched the game between USA and Dom. Republic afterwards and the most impressive in the game for me was the digging from Brenda Castillo, she is the real deal on the floor, extremly impressive....its almost only her that makes saves all the time in the whole team, and she was making some sick ones yesterday too, that resulted in very, very entertaining rallies.

I think DR would have won the game if only Bethania De La Cruz would have played like in OG qualies, but she obviously isnt in that shape now. For the most of the time USA could stop her quite easy, and Mambru was the most dangerous player for their side. Kristin Richards was pretty ineffective almost whole game, but started to play well in final set, and contributed to the win for USA there.

magaly carvajal disagrees with you...

  • Qualified for 2013 Grand Prix

    1. USA

    2. Cuba

    3. Dominican Republic

    4. Brazil

Last NORCECA spot between Canada and Puerto Rico

CSV spot between Peru and Argentina.

  • There's something wrong about this tournament.
Peru should play with Canada and not with Pto. Rico because Peru was the second place in his group and Canada the fifth.
And Argentina was the third in his group and Puerto Rico the fourth.

About semi finals, Brazil should play with DR and not Cuba. Curious isn't it?

    uhmmm...

The match up is correct because the tournament regulations say that for the Semifinal Rounds:

If 3 teams from the same group qualify, the match between the highest ranked and the lowest ranked team of their Preliminary Round will be repeated.

    Group A: 1) USA 2) CUB 3) DOM
    Group B: 1) BRA

So the semifinal is USA-DOM and BRA gets CUB.

And Argentina was the third in his group and Puerto Rico the fourth.

I'm trying to make sense of it so I go to the regulations and tournament schedule for the tournament. .

Match 36: Winner of M31 [CAN] vs Loser of M34 [ARG] * (or M35 - PER)
Match 37: Winner of M32 [PUR] vs Loser of M35 [PER] * (or M34 - ARG)

*It must be avoided that teams from the same group play together.

Since Canada and Argentina are from different groups in the preliminary round and
Puerto Rico and Peru are also from different groups in the preliminary round

...there's no need to go to the "or" scenario.

(If there are 3 teams from the same group then I think the "or" scenario will apply. I can't find the rule where it says like in your post -- that higher ranked in A should play lower ranked in B)

So it's CAN vs ARG and PUR vs PER

Someone please correct me if my understanding is wrong :wavy:

  • Well, in semi finals it makes sense

  • marshmellow, your explanation is good enough. I don't see any foul play here.
interesting to see if USA can repeat their sensational come back of couple of day ago.
on the other hand, is Cuba capable of reaching the finals?....... their game is so unpredictable.
