2012 Olympic Games

  • Congratulations to the USA team! :drink: It's really a team effort to win this match.
From today match especially in set 3-4, all the USA members still have some problems to work on. But when put together as a team, seems the others can compensate the individual problem well enough to win.
    - Berg ... in general had nice sets, but still had connection problems with the middles.
    - Logan ... playing nice and smart today, even through she can't attack as effective as in 4 years ago. but her attack today was better than her late performances.
    - Larson ... playing like an MVP in the early sets but then dropped a bit in last 2 sets
    - Hooker ... playing so good in the late sets, just in time when Larson was slightly dropped in attacks.

The USA block seems to work in the early sets, but in set 3-4, not that effective.
But I'm happy with the win. I mean now they can win over Brazil, even through with some rooms to improve. I hope middle connection with setter and the block should be better once the tournament goes on.

Brazil also impress me the way they fight back after the first 2 set results. In the last set, if with less service errors, they could even had a chance to win the set.

  • So many fantastic rallies :obey:
Btw I'm surprised that Risa is playing as Opp instead of Yamaguchi...I didn't see the JPN-ALG match, who played there?

If I remembered correctly, Mai Yamaguchi played in the first 2 sets then replaced by Risa in the 3rd.

  • Congrats Team USA!!! What a team effort. I'm just happy that Larson and Tom are doing very well for the team. Destinee's game is peaking and that should be good news. I'm sad though that Berg cannot utilize Akinradewo and Harmotto more on offense even though reception is topnotch. Brazil, on the other hand, is in danger. Seriously, this is a veteran-laden team...they are expected to do well having to compete in London with majority of those who have competed (and earned the gold) in Beijing. My observation, their OHs (Jacque and Paula) lack the firepower to put Brazil on top... Garay is the answer but she's not the best passer out there...Hope ZRG finds a way.
