2012 Olympic Games

  • you had to see me watching KOrea and Usa match.we were leading 2-1 and 15-11 in the fourt set then Kore started to get many points in arow and me!!! oh my god!!!!i got crazy in front ov Tv!! :pinch:

    haha i can imagine..you

i already cried three times in the last three olympics..
    please don't make it a fourth one..hahahah.

    Davai Russia :drink:

  • I think if Brazil wins over Russia now the OG is dead and over, and USA will take the title. But if Russia wins there is a chance, since they are a more difficult matchup for them, both through playing style and since they never faced each other last 2 yrs., and that time Russia won, so they dont know how to beat them, and Russia will go strong into the match. Brazil has lost too many times in a row against USA now, that I feel the match will be lost already in their minds before the match starts. However, Russia is not stable at all and the Brazilians is always annoying and intimitating to face, so it will be tough to win there.

I don't think that Larson and Logan are controllable at attack. They are not USA's main scorers that's for sure and they don't have to be.. Hooker, Akinradewo and Harmotto are enough.. if Russia stops Hooker than Berg will create situations which are better for Logan and Larson to score (because now that are usually predictable and not so good sets)

  • Why everbody between turkish users thinks that Neslihan will retire so early? She is still young and i hope she can see Rio aswell maybe as a backup but who knows she is still 28 (December,1983) but Esra and Gulden will retire NT very soon guess.Esra wrote in twitter that in near future she will stop play for NT,probably it will be ECH13.

we will miss Esra.I think Its right time for Esra and Gülden to retire.Neriman should be main Oh and Gizem libero..But Neslihan can play a few more years.

i dont think Logan attacks very well.yes she can but i dont think.i watched her in Turkey and she wasnt good at attacking.its certain she play better in the NT.Larson is agood player but Russia can conrtol her.Foluke and Harmooto are crucial players for Larsona and Logan to attack effectively.

Yeas I agree with you that they are not great attackers, but my point was that if they manage to stop Hooker, Berg will find a way to make Logan and Jordan score.. you understand.. more combination plays

I also think that Neslihan would play till Rio at least. About Esra, we don't have any back-up player who is as solid as Esra at receiving, it is really hard to talk about the rosters 4 years later though

yes,i do understand.sure both of them will score some points.they are good enough to help the team.

Esra wasnt good at receiving at this Og...neither Gözde. We should rely on Neriman. She received well in many matches.
But She (Esra) played like a star against China. :rose:

I think the problem with Gozde not receiving well like she used to is that she thinks too much about attack.. and when Naz sets her she hits the ball as hard as she can not thinking to hit somewhere in the court where there is no defense.. I remember Motta telling her to spi down the line (parallel) and 3 times in a row she hit the block as hard as she could.. I like her more as a good receiver/defender who spikes very hard that a scorer for the Turkish team

agree. But i still prefer Neriman as Oh.Gözde jumps very well.she is flying sometimes...she can hit the sharp cross court any more, she sometimes can attack from back row...but she should try to play more with block-outs and paralel attacks.

I think Guldeniz Onal could replace Esra. The biggest problem is that she is a bench player in VakifBank. She should go in a team where she can be in starting 6. In Turk Telekom she was really young and good player. She needs a team who trasted her, because I think she can be a good player for NT. :teach:

I guess she will be on bench in the coming season with Polen, another good talented player that should be playing as starter. .

Ohhh yes, I totally agree with you.. she is a great player and can hit too.. in fact i was also wondering why isn't she playing for another club in the starting 6

I think that's the reason why Megan Hodge is in the roster. Russia is a very physical team and the USA's OHs of Tom and Larson may not match up with Goncharova-Sokolova/Estes. Hodge could be the answer...she is a decent receiver but is an excellent attacker and can elevate really high like Hooker. Its possible to see Tom-Hodge to start for Team USA should they meet Russia later on the tournament.

  • Güldeniz Önal can replace Esra though her reception is worse than Esra she is a great digger but with time she can be better at reception but i want taller OH's.There are some players like:Elif Onur who is going to play for Fenerbahçe this season. She is a tall player:187 cm and 189-born but her reception is bad.Another option:Meryem Boz:She is rather tall:192 cm -1988 born and if she can receive she can be an Oh.There are Ceren Kestirengöz but i dont know if she will be an OPP or an OH.the coaches let her play sometimes as OPP sometimes as OH.She is 193 cm tall and 1993 -borned.There are some young talents like Damla Çakıroğlu who is a short player and Şeyma Ercan who is 187 cm .i believe Şeyma and Damla have very good potantial but are very young:1994 or 1995.after ESra...Güldeniz,Gözde and Neriman seem to be a better option for a while then Elif Onur.

edit.I forgot Ezgi Dağdelenler. She is a good talent. She played badly in NT at EL but she played a very good club season. She is young and 185 cm.

Hodge is a very good attacker but her reception?? And i wonder how some American players will play under pressure like Hooker and Hodge.Tom and Berg are experienced players.

  • As what I've written above, she is a decent receiver. Certainly not a Tom or Del Core but is good enough. Anyway, its too early to talk about the finals, USA still has to handle DR while Russia needs to topple down Brazil first.

im not sure if she is decent.yes she has made progress but not enough for high level.of course if the opponents cant serve well then Hodge can receive but when it counts Hodge can live some problems...
for xemaple Neriman made reception mistake at 25-25 then Usa took the set. ;)

  • I dont think Hodge will start any match in OG, not even against Russia, but if USA gets in problem and they need more solutions in attack since for ex. Larson/Logan gets hard times to pass the block, I guess Hodge will come in, because then Hugh might feel even if her reception is bad, its the best way to turn the match around. It will also give Hooker more space. Everybody can have some decent sets in reception, even Hodge.
