2012 Olympic Games

  • You just gotta ignite, the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

    'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Guys, you were terrific this evening!

  • Congratulations bulgarian friends  :drink:
You finally did something amazing, without Kaziyski and Stoychev it's more possible than you think!

  • Congratulations, bulgarian friends! :drink:

You did it! Who expected Bulgaria to make the semis, before the OG? And not, for instance, Poland and USA? Not a lot of people, I'm sure. That's a big thing. Amazing job!

me, at the least the part with Polnad and USA :D

  • Muse, I don't think anyone has bad opinion for you. I don't and we quarreled the most :drink: I just wish you like our team more, but I can't force you to do so. About Poland, they didn't show their class at the Olympics, neither Nowakowski or Kurek played at 100% and it is not Anastazi's fault, he is great coach. Poland won so much lately, that you shouldn't be disappointed, you will have ECH and WCH in Poland and it is possible to win them both. Russia, Brazil, Poland, Bulgaria, Cuba are all serious teams. About Kaziyski - he protests the volleyball federation, which steals the money won by the Men NT and doesn't invest them in young players, volleyball training in Bulgaria is from the 70's, that's what was stopping us to get more medals or even titles so far, always unbalanced teams. Without him the team started playing, before he was carrying them on his shoulders and was still not enough- the loss with Russia ECH2011, Germany, where he had 85% in attack and brutal serves and we still lost. If we get Lazarov and the other scavengers out and he returns, the team will be stronger than ever and will fight with Poland and Russia for gold in tournaments.

About the match - we played like team with big experience, with class and confidence and with good volleyball! Finally the work of Prandi, Placci and Stoychev have developed strong team with balance! :drink: Go on, we believe in you! With this game you can win at the semifinal

  • you mean younger Brazil, right! I couldn't call Sokolov mini
Anyway! I am completely stunned of both our style of play and our mental approach! Absolutely unbelievable! :white:

    haha yes :D
the most awesome is our float serving. when we are playing with Brasil, whenever they start feeling pushed and pressured they start using float serves and turn everything around. this kind of serves always piss me off, but now we are beating everyone wit then. awesome :drink:

  • what is happening at this Olympics is amazing for me! This kiddos who were mostly bench players before and 9/12 players are debutant at Olympics are doing amazing job! So effortless and free of pressure, it is amazing. It will be really nice if we get a medal here to consolidate that good performance. I don't mind what color that medal will be, bronze will be just fine :)
Anyhow I feel like I am daydreaming :cheesy: hell ya :obey:

  • S L A U G H T E R ! ! !

Tonight I had several spiritual orgasms

Psychologists from Stanford and Oxford should do their dissertations just on Bulgarian volleyball NT mental approach over the last 10 years...

I don't know what to think about the next matches!

best thing is almost all the players are young enough to be in the team for the next OG

  • You mean before the OG, you believed Bulgaria had a bigger chance of moving to semis than either Poland or USA? If so, care to share why?

I mean I was saying to the people who had already awarded Poland with the Olympic gold after the WL final to hold their horses. And gave an example with Serbia who were in killer form before Beijing. Even one guy laughed at these words(hello, my friend, sorry can't remember your nick now:wavy: ) About USA, I wrote before the last group games it will be easier to beat them than Brasil/Russia :drink:

  • Amazing job!

The guys are a lot more confident w/out Matey next to them. This was for the last Olympics where Bulgaria lost a couple of matches too easily and came upon Russia. Now I guess Poland took that role.

Still, women's QFs were better than men's. Out of the four semifinalists whoever is the biggest favorite? Not that great Russia? Controversial Brazil?

  • I'm even afraid to think that we have change against Russia. Everyone in the team is playing great, even Alexiev is receiving like a monster, and his attack is just incredible. Sokolov had a great day today, just serve needs more work.

Nadejda (The Shepherd - no offence I just saw it below your nickname ) - congratulations !
I agree what you wrote - free of pressure is making good game and positve result but such success may change nothing in your federation ! :hit:

No, about that, I agree with you. I didn't follow the WL as closely as some of you guys. But I saw people in Brazil - specially the press - very worried about the polish team, and some people saying they were heavy favorites for gold. And I didn't think so. I watched some of the matches they had with Brazil, some that they beat us, and to me what stood out most was how bad we were. I saw an improvement for Poland, but I definitely believed the other teams hadn't brought out their big guns yet. In a decisive match against Brazil or Russia, I'd denifitely put my cents on Poland losing. And they did have a disastrous group round. About USA, I believed they could've done better. I was surprised to see them being smacked by Italy. Bulgaria, to me, is a big surprise, in spite of them doing well in the 1st phase. I haven't seen them play this year, before the OG, but I definitely didn't believe they could make to the semis withou Kaziyski. So good for them for being able to survive the crisis the team had this year. They must feel very proud, and they should, as well as their supporters.

  • volleyball Cinderella continue to the semifinals

  • I'm starting to think that such approach Naydenov-Placci is not that bad. I mean of course that Naydenov is useless cuckoo, but for example a duo Prandi-Placci is two guys with the same function. It is a very good decision your coach to be mainly a motivator and your assistant to be the tactician. We just have to find the perfect motivator. Rado kinda suppressed the players.

    USA94 - London12
    Penev - Naydenov
    Germany1/4 - Germany1/4
Brazil in the other semifinal - Brazil in the other semifinal
    barely qualified - barely qualified

We have ourselves a success formula. Who said it - "orderly chaos" ???

  • I am still euphoric, but can't refrain myself from asking the same question over and over again - what the hell was wrong with Germany??? Actually, the question should be - Where was Germany??? What happened to Kaliberda? I couldn't dream of an easier quarterfinal, but come on.. You can't play like this in OG QF!

Btw, just my two cents about Russia, you still seem to underestimate Russia a lot. Why do you think they played nothing special, why do you think they changed nothing, why do you think they show crappy volleyball (I mean today)? Alekno was prepared for every move of the Polish guys, the Russian tactics were simply brilliant. The change of Butko with Grankin worked perfectly, the MBs did such a great job that neither Kurek, nor Bartman could influence the game. Serving at the weakest Polish point (Winiarski, but only here, he is a great player otherwise) helped the blockers a lot. Yes, Poland didn't reach the level of the World League a month ago, but Russia had also a lot to say about that, don't diminish their display. And don't forget that Russia was actually not there back then, so Alekno had more time to study his opponents. Forget about the group games, they don't matter when you reach the semis. To me, Russia is the favourite N1 again, it will be very tough for someone to beat them, just like WL 2011.

  • Ok, someone wakes me up, please, 'cause I definately must be dreaming! We just reached the semis! 8o I was a little bit afraid before the match that we may have some problems with handling the pressure in this important match, but our guys simply shot me down! I really didn't expect them to play so relaxed, smiling, confident and even having fun! :cheesy: Germans on the other hand seemed to be nervous, they played stiff (at the very end I would even say apathic) and couldn't oppose us. I think there is no need to make some technical analysis about this match, coz we outplayed them in every aspect, they just couldn't enter in the match and show their game. Quite surprising for me all 1/4 finals ended in 3 sets. I only couldn't watch the POL-RUS match, so can't say anything, except that I'm surprised by the result, I mean at least from this match most of us expected a big drama and a lot of fight, but obviously something has happened, I'm sorry for Polish friends here :flower: From now on, no matter what will happen, we should be only glad with what we achived, because a month ago the top 4 of the OGs seemed like a mirage! Ofc it will be simply great if our story goes on even futher and have the ultimate 'happy end'...ah, dreams

    Wild Wild West!
