Murilo MVP

I love him, but that's odd. I think it should've gone to Muserskiy. He was already playing well before the final and today, he just killed it.

more like cossack pajamas great spirit by Russia, they have transformed from mental midgets to mental masters

I think he deserves for this award, for me the brightest brazilian personality from the beginning to the end of tournament.
Muserskiy exploded just in final.

It'll be more ridiculous if it goes to Muserskiy. One match as opposite wins an MVP?
I suppose it should go to Mikhaylov, anyway he has already got the best scorer and spiker though.
In my personal opinion, Mikhaylov had been stolen two MVPs, of the Eruo champions league and the Olympics.
congratulations to the RUSSIAN FEDERATION....2 sets down yet they still manage to get the other 2 sets and totally destroyed brazilians defence...i think this is the best match ive seen so far....very well deserved win for RUSSIA....brazil can't win all....this is the revenge of the russian mens to brazil after russian womens were defeated by brazil.....musersky for mvp....he is the key for the winning against brazil.....
Big changes are coming. Brazil, Italy, USA will start building almost completely new teams but Poland, Argentina, Serbia, Bulgaria are already a few laps ahead. It's going to be very interesting next couple of years
why Italy? the are not so old!
Musersky should have been selected as MVP not Murilo.Musersky saved Russia from a 3-0 defeat.

I hardly think it'd be ridiculous. The guy destroyed the most important match of the competition. You can argue consistency, regularity, but not relevance. I wouldn't be mad if Mikhaylov had won the MVP, but in the most important match of the competition, he was totally overshadowed.
For all of you who ask why Muserskiy doesn't play always as an opposite - because he will play maximum 1 year before he ends his career because of knee injuries.
Brazilian fans, you're building a new team, so back-up players will become starters. Please, give me hope that Rezende or whoever is coach won't put Thiago Violas as a starter! This guy with his presence is unbearable...
Russia won the gold without playing on full potential. Mikhaylov was not himself, Grankin and Khtey were not playing their best. Actually Russia won mainly because Rezende was not prepared for the tactical move by Alekno and because of the great executions by Muserskiy and Tetyukhin.
It's a pity that Poland's mental issues didn't allow them to play near to their full potential, because this Olympic tournament didn't meet the expectations and the fuss. Druzyna Polska would've added to the class of the tournament.

MBs are leaving for sure. Thy'll have to pach things up with Bira, Buti, Barone, Cester... and they seem like a level below Fei and Mastrangelo, although the last 2 are not among the best MBs around. Lasko will be 32 next NT season and he has no proper sub. They are putting great hopes in Sabbi and Vettori but...I guess they'll start using some of their OH as opposite. Also we are yet to see if Juantorena changes his mind and agrees to play for Italy. Imo he will.

Don't be worried, man, Violas plays for Portugal
Or maybe it was a joke, I don't know how to recognize jokes usually.

Oh, it's my mistake! Jesus, every second guy in Brazil and Portugal is called Thiago
I mean the hairy, gypsy-like Thiago with a body tan of a truck driver who behaves like a doped savage. He played 1-2 points in the final. Thiago Alves is his name, now I checked(every fourth guy in Brazil is called Thiago Alves )

Yeah, I also think that Bertto and co. have in mind such scenario, coz they already tried Zaytsev as an opposite in this year's WL for example and it wasn't bad attempt at all.
Also we are yet to see if Juantorena changes his mind and agrees to play for Italy. Imo he will.
It's really probable Osmany to change his mind...I mean that's him after all - as we saw from the Trento-Zenit-Trento saga Juantorena is simply virtuoso in changing his mind for a not very long period of time!
Italians should be more careful with him
I think that Alekno should be MVP, absolutely no doubt! As I already said - he was the man!
But since it's probably not possible, then maybe Mikhaylov...or why not Muserskiy? No, no, no - def Alekno!
A little late on this but HUGE congratulations to Russia. I was sure they were going to lose when they were down 17-20, I think it was, in the 3rd set. Muserskiy completely dominated at the net from that point on. But the real hero of the Russian team to me is Maxim Mikhaylov. There is not a single opposite in the world that would be able to attack from position 4 with the same efficiency and be able to receive serve and to do all of that under the tremendous pressure of being down. He may be the best opposite player in the world and he switched roles to find a way to win for the team and I admire that tremendously. I've never seen the Russians get so emotional during a match but they really earned the victory and took the victory from Brazil when Brazil thought they had it wrapped up. Bravo Russia!

U know sth or just guessing? Dima already played as OPP so I don't think there is problem with his knees

I don't know anything, I'm guessing but here are my arguments:
Firstly, he is over 100kg and probably not a bit over. Playing as an opposite means more stress to the knees, because of more moving and more importantly more bending(often they have to play defence). That's could be controlled with proper fitness if he was not 218sm tall. Taller people are more likely to suffer from injuries.
Besides I've noticed that all his teammates are wearing knee pads and he is wearing knee bandages.
And last but not least - why was he transformed from MB to an opposite? Coaches saw bigger potential in the center or because of supposed injury problems?
CONGRATULATIONS RUSSIA!!!!
Maxim Mikhaylov has got to be the best player on the planet right now. What an awesome game vs Brazil. Bravo Russia!!! What a sweet revenge for their women counterparts.
Sad ending to a career by Giba and Serginho. Thank you for the many years of exciting volleyball.
What about Dante? Is he retiring?

You can find the answer some posts ago. Some users thought he was, but that's not his intention. He stated a couple of times he wants to play the 2016 Olympics. I just stressed that wether this will happen or not, it shall depend on his physical conditions, cause we've seen him suffering with injuries a lot. But I think it's safe to say we'll still see him playing in the NT.
