Japan - 2012/2013 Women's Premier V- League

  • Basa was a starter in the first 3 sets, and then a substitute in the 5th for NEC, 17 kills, 2 errors, 51 spike attempts, 2 blocks, 9 serves, 1 service error

Yaneva played in all 2 sets for JT (started 1st set, a substitute in the 4th), 1 kills, 1 error, 9 attempts, 1 block, 1 serve, 2 excellent, 7 serve receive attempts

Why Yelis is being substituted in last matches? Does she have any injury?

I cannot tell from the Japanese blogs that I have looked at through Google. It is the coaches decision, but they are still winning. The foreign players are often the highest paid player on the team, so you would think that she would be playing more. We'll have to see what happens at the end of the season. If they win the title and she leaves, then it's the coach, or maybe the culture. Often times, Japanese practices are very difficult (even by Western standards).

I asked it because she started so well to the season and actually her stats are really good!I dont see any reason to substitute her.however stats dont show everything of course...

  • Japan league is an intereting one. seems there are good challenges btw all the teams...
what can you say about the competition/competitiveness in Japan league,Brahmin?

It is a decent league, many of the women on the Japanese national team are in the league. A few lower international level stars (only one per squad) play in the league as well.

Most of the Japanese club teams do not win the Asian Club Championship. 2002 was the last time it happened. Mainly the national teams are preparing for the World Grand Prix, so the champions will not send their best team, let alone foreign player to the Club Championship.
