Dutch NT 2013-2014

  • I forgot to mention this before, I watched NED-ALG this summer and I have to say Schoot has an impressive hit when they were warming up. She hit the ball harder than Grothues I think... I like her

Two seasons ago in Vilsbiburg she played as OH, but her attacking is definitely not good enough to play that position on high level. She is better off as libero.

Yes I agree... I thought it was interesting to see a libero hitting so hard.. I also think another libero who was a good hitter is Stacy Sykora.. I remember her hitting very hard during some warm-up

I'm very glad to read Manon is in good shape. The Dutch girls will need her in Croatia :teach: Pietersen's level is not enough for Croatia.

  • Pietersen is definitely too weak to be first OPP, she was weak during last NT season and also in Sopot she underperformed

Agree. Judith should return to MB-position, otherwise she has no future in NT...

  • How is Wensink/Stam/Sloetejs now?

And will Moniek Jansen or Kathy Bonsen have a chance for WCH?

Sloetjes is still recovering from he shoulder-injury. She was last weekend in Busto, for Busto-Piacenza match. I guess she will be back April/May 2014.

About Stam and Wensink there is no news lately. Because both of them have no club at the moment, it is very hard to find any information.

Jansen and Bonsen have (almost) no chance for WCH/ECH, because they are simply not good enough.

Vermeulen said (a few weeks ago) he wants to continue to WCH 2014/ECH 2015 with current roster + the injured players (Sloetjes, Wensink, Stam) . I agree with him :win:

  • Who will be out when Sloetjes, Wensink, Stam come back

  • Who will be out when Sloetjes, Wensink, Stam come back

I suppose when Sloetjes comes back it means goodbye for Pietersen, she's just not strong enough. But the other two both will be 30 this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if Vermeulen sticks with the young players even when they're back...

I wonder if Pietersen would convert back her position  Groutheus is doing as good as Stam as a defensive OH so giving Plak is better idea. However, Wensink is only one year older than Steenbergen and I believe a fully recovered Wensink still has so many things to contribute NT, also Belien didn't seem to be a special talent whenever she entered to the game.
