  • Russia roster

    http://www.volley.ru/news/8179/

I just would like to understand why Zhilin was called again, c'mon he's been on bench all the time in Lokomotive, not even entering to serve, why do not give a chance to Byryukov ?
And i got so excited about Ostapenko on full squad, i hope he return as soon as possible :super:

  • Russian roster for WGCC: - only one change comparing to ECH roster - Alexey Verbov is replaced by Valentin Golubev.
    Setters: Sergey Grankin, Sergey Makarov
    Opposites: Nikolay Pavlov, Maxim Mikhaylov
Outside Hitters: Evgeny Sivozhelez, Alexey Spiridonov, Dmitriy Ilinykh, Ilya Zhilin
Middle Blockers: Dmitriy Muserskiy, Nikolay Apalikov, Andrey Ashchev, Artem Volvich
    Liberos: Artem Ermakov, Valentin Golubev

  • The 14-men US roster:

    Setters: Kawika Shoji, Micah Christenson
    Opposites: Carson Clark, Murphy Troy
Outside attackers: Reid Priddy, Matthew Anderson, Sean Roooney, Paul Lotman, Jeff Menzel
Middle blockers: David Lee, Max Holt, David Smith, Futi Tavana
    Libero: Erik Shoji

A surprise move by adding the back-up setter Christenson to the squad. He will make his senior NT debut in Japan. He was part of the Junior NT.

  • It isn't his debut in senior NT, he has already played in NORCECA Continental Championships - he got best setter and server awards there :teach:

  • Italy took revenge. 3-1 against Russia 28-26, 25-20. 19-25, 27-25. Travica was elected MVP.
Italian receiving was very shaky. The surprise was Piano instead of Beretta in the starting six.

From Russia, the best was Dima. He wasnt so accurated in the serves, but a monster in the other skills. Sivo

I would say partial revenge. A win in a meaningless tournament is not really a dream job for Italy, but it will for sure boost their confidence. Russia proved once again they are vulnerable in opening games. But don't put Brazil on the first place yet :)

  • ;( We could take Brazil to the 5th set for the 1st time, with a 20-18 lead and the ball and momentum in our side, Ghafour's mistakes were costly

This was a good game still for Iran against probably the best team of the tournament
