European League 2013

  • My expectation ---> Sassi and Maren as OH and Heike or Lisa will help Sassi in the back-row for reception. the rest will stay the same.

Good solution, offensive strength will increase and despite worse reception they have substitutes for backrow, who you mentioned :)

Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • So that means belgium starts grand prix history and happy for them cause they have been playing on good level 8)
And for german NT,if germany plays their real game with hanke's smart sets even just serves would be enough to damage bulgaria's game and beat them 3-0 but they couldnt show a stable performance in european league :whistling:

  • Belgium probably will beat Romania and qualify for the 2014 World Grand Prix.

I'm confident that Germany will show a good performance this weekend. Bulgaria's weaknesses in reception and defense are very good for Germany because the team can exploit them very well. Bulgaria's came is very simple, Vasileva is the only strong weapon they have. Better than to have Belgium in semifinal...

Guidetti is already so confident about the match but if germany does let bulgaria play they would be so strong to compete more they would be the home which means probably line referees just work for bulgarian side
And for roster hope poll and izquierdo will be there cause they r so useful for team game

In all matches I've watched of Bulgaria in preliminary, I was shocked how weak they play as team despite the individual quality of their players. Probably they'll do better in F4, but I'd much rather have them in semifinal than Belgium.

  • I'm happy Romania meets Belgium in semifinal.I don't really care if we win or lose.. I would be glad to see a Romanian team as they really are.. hungry for victory.I hope they'll find their inner strength, eventhough our federation treats them like hell :)

  • I was about to write Germany's going to defeat Bulgary easily, but I changed my mind. Bulgary plays at home and last weekend in Bulgary was their best serie with 3 victories and 9 points. I guess Germany will win, but Bulgary can give them a hard time.

Will Daiana Muresan play in F4? Is she out of shape or injured?

  • Officially, she left the training camp "because of injury" as well as Sobo and Rogojinaru. The truth is they left because of the conditions and money. They are not to blame, the girls who are still there should be considered heroines instead
I don't know if she'll come back, but I hope she doesn't.Baciu is doing a good job and if Daiana comes back, even if she's playing bad, she would be on court and Baciu on the bench.

Thanks for info but what do you mean with money? Are they paid for playing in NT ?( I don''t know Rogojinaru but Sobo was also very useful player. Muresan is inconsistent player but to me, she is a good prospect for Romania NT

  • I was thinking about the amount of money that is invested in their development as a team. Unofrtunately, our federation doesn't care about the team

  • Bulgaria played the whole tournament with the same roster, and also Romania only made one change after Muresan left the team. Only Belgium and Germany had a few more changes.
Guidetti will decide about the final roster on Thursday evening, at the moment all 16 players are still in training camp.

  • Lets see if the home crowd will give us extra power. The hall will be full as there is Bulgaria-Poland match after Bulgaria-Germany. I hope we will not make so much mistakes. The team really look awful this year, but in the perspective of the ECH there is a lot of time. However, if we lost to Germany there will be no GP next year for us. I believe we have other weapons, not only Elitsa. I think Strashi and Dobriana will show much more in Saturday.

  • Izquierdo wont be in bulgaria cause guidetti decided to have good reception hope germany wont miss her clear attacks when they try to make points by tips although they dont work :what:

Let me clear this up once and for all: German team does not try to make points by tips. Guidetti and also some of the players have talked several times about their strategy of "disturbing" the opponent's game in situations when it's clear that the chance to get a direct point is very low. When the attackers get balls in difficult situations and face a good block or feel that they don't have a good position to the ball, they make a tip to an area of the opponent court that will make it difficult for the opponent to create an effective counterattack, for example a tip to the opponent setter when she is in defense, and the team tries to get the point in block or get another chance for attack. It might not be spectacular to watch, but it has turned out to be effective many times.

About the F4 roster, Guidetti says he chose it not thinking about the tournament but only about Bulgaria match because of the WGP ticket for finalists. He took Lisa Thomsen as defensive specialist because in the short sets you can't allow losing point streaks from bad receptions.
