Germany NT 2013

  • I agree with you. Germans can't make a great result with Beier and Matthes and neither can rely on Angie anymore... Sarah Petrausch was expected to be a big player but it seems like she's always been injuried and Thieme is quite unhealthy too...Overall, Brinker is the only reliable OH. She used to be very unstable but she improved a lot during the 2 seasons in Italy and I'm glad about that.

  • Ok. So I think that U20 has to play without Lisa Izquierdo the whole summer. But it is ok.
Will be interesting if Keil and Lippmann will join for U20-WC if Germany qualifies for the tournament.

I think Jennifer Geerties should be better than Engelhardt and Poll. But she was injured so it's ok that she plays "only" U20. Will be interesting to see which Bundesliga team Jennifer Geerties will join for next season.

Hopefully Julia Schaefer will train as OH next years. Then she will have good chances to join German NT 2015 I think. Her passing is ok and she is nominated to U20 as OH in preparation for the qualifying tournament.

  • I hope so too...and as Apitz apparently doesn't want to play NT again this year, it's 99% sure than Hanke and Weiss will be the setters for ECH. Maybe Lena Möllers will play some matches in EL and/or GP, but I can't see her taking the place of one of the others for the big matches...

I just wish we had some better OHs, the new ones don't bring in anything that the old ones can't do. The only exception is Lisa Izquierdo, but lately in Dresden she has been playing as Opp. I hope Guidetti will keep her as OH though...

Thats why german NT needs grün so much.I still think that she wont make a wrong desicion and play in grand prix and ECH.If she does not want to have responsiblity of reception anymore guidetti should let her play as opposite. She can do whatever kozuch does or better still  And i think that kozuch-brinker can handle reception and attack.Otherwise its not so hard to see with beier/matthes useless tips they wouldnt compete with really strong turkey and serbia.

And i think that grün will play for last time cause its a great chance to end her great volley career towards a big crowd in germany like 'thanks' with golden medal ;)

  • Of coure Grün can attack as good as Kozuch however I don't think Kozuch can receive as well as Grün  But still, if the reason of Grün's absence in NT is position issue, I would let her play as Opp and play with Brinker&Beier. Germany needs solid reception in order to use their good MBs and Grün is more reliable scorer than Kozuch, so their lack offensive power won't be that big problem

  • Grün is surely not the type of player who would make conditions for playing. If she comes, she'll do whatever the team and the coach needs from her.

Kozuch as OH won't happen, she attacks much better from pos 2 than from 4. I think with Hanke as setter she'd do fine, maybe Kozuch can even run some slides again...

  • btw what do you think about matthes current shape? has she already fully recovered or do you think beier would be more beneficial than her?

Matthes is back in Dresden's first six since the beginning of the playoffs, but she's not yet at 100%. I've watched only one match of Beier in Italy this season because A2 matches usually aren't broadcasted, so I can't tell much about her shape either, but her stats looked fairly good this season.

In terms of attack, Brinker and Izquierdo should be in starting line-up, but that would be suicide for reception probably. Even Lenka Dürr has been pretty shaky in reception in her club lately :S

Kozuch played as OH she came to the senior level when grün was making great things as opposite so no need to talk so much certain like 'kozuch as OH wont happen' Its nothing something has never being tried and she played as OH also in poland sometimes.Germany has not so much options for opposite and OH positions so guidetti should use the players as much effectively as he can.And i guess izquierdo might be a great new player for german NT with guidetti.

Yeah, Kozuch played as few matches as OH in 2005, and also when she was still in German league she played as OH. But right now, it won't happen, believe me. She has always played as Opp in the last 5-6 years, because as I said before, her attack from pos 4 is not so good, she's better from 2. And Grün isn't as powerful as in the past unfortunately, so I don't think we'll see her as Opp again...

  • After retiring from NT already last year and sitting out the whole season with knee injury, Kerstin Tzscherlich has decided to end her Volleyball career completely now.
On 8 June there will be a farewell match in Dresden, Germany NT vs "Kerstin and friends" (old teammates from Dresden and NT) :drink:

  • Kerstin :rose: I hope Lenka had learnt a lot from Kerstin when they were together in the NT training.

  • sad I thought she will play one more season but good luck in your aftre volley life, she was very good player

  • According to CEV ECH facebook page, Angelina Hübner-Grün won't be part of German NT this year...

  • Unfortunately its now official that grün wont play for germany :what: I really thought that she would play at least in ECH.She says she has not enough energy for team anymore and the pity is that still she is the most powerful player in germany.Although she is a great player and i really like her i should say that she is not good on making right desicions. She made a mistake with trying beach volley and now she wastes a big chance for her and also for german NT.Germany was the biggest candidate for golden medal in ECH 2013 with grün but now though a bit pessimistic there is no chance to compete with turkey and serbia for germany. Just hope hanke might be enough

Sorry to hear that, she's a great player!

  • Unfortunately Yup... It's getting darker and darker. I don't think Germany will have a successful year without Grün. Maren Brinker has played well in her club but 'who' will be her partner should be a big question. I hope it won't be Matthes or Beier.

  • Yep, Grün officially won't play. It doesn't come that surprising after all, and I think it won't be a too big problem. German NT never depended that much on individual performances but more on team play, and with Izquierdo and Geerties we have two young players who can be very important OHs for the team in the next years, though ECH probably comes too early for them.

    Newest roster for Montreux:
S: Denise Hanke (Schweriner SC), Lena Möllers (Rote Raben Vilsbiburg)
MB: Berit Kauffeldt (Giaveno/ITA), Nadja Schaus (Marsala/ITA), Anja Brandt (Schweriner SC), Melanie Keil (VC Olympia Berlin)
OH: Anne Matthes (Dresdner SC), Jana-Franziska Poll (Rote Raben Vilsbiburg), Svenja Engelhardt (Allianz MTV Stuttgart), Rebecca Schäperklaus (VC Wiesbaden), Jennifer Geerties (VC Olympia Berlin)
Opp: Louisa Lippmann (USC Münster), Saskia Hippe (Prostejov/CZE)
L: Lenka Dürr (Rote Raben Vilsbiburg)

Nadja Schaus and Jennifer Geerties were added to the previously announced roster, those 14 players will practice on Saturday+Sunday and 12 of them will play in Montreux. Strange to see Schäperklaus listed as OH, in her club she plays MB or Opp, but maybe Guidetti has different plans with her.
