Retired players

  • did KYK pay for all these athletes to participate or did they pay for their own travel etc?

Lazareva is de-Russkyfied. Smiling and all. Goncharova is like the old soviet look. Still grumpy🤣

Athletes flew business class to Korea, got an 5 star hotel and will receive 2500 US dollars to spend. They won't get money or compensation for match itself

  • I listened Neslihan's last interview in a show called "Neslihan's memory book" (lol not sure if translation is good).

She praised Michelle Bartsch Hackley a tons, saying she was like a doctor, working well with everything and fixing all, block, defense, serve, attack, passing. She also added that it was really difficult to convince her to come to Turkey early (during post Covid-season, they started trainings in July 1st). So Bartsch was asking to arrive in mid-August and looks like they had days of conversations and deals and eventually found a mid way. Then she added, "it was so difficult to bring her to Turkey, but once she arrived, she was a perfect professional, giving her all and this happened 2 summers in a row". She also added that this is common with American players and she completely understands, since they would like to stay as much as they can with their families, at home, while other players coming from for example Serbia, can go to visit their home during a weekend.

They were a lot of interesting points, also regarding Haak-Egonu exchange etc.
