Germany - DVL 1. Bundesliga 2013/14

  • Liana Mesa Luaces, Linda Helterhoff and Celin Stör renewed their contracts for one more year in Vilsbiburg.
Dominique Lamb and Cristina Alves will take a one year break and will return to the USA and Brazil, respectively.

  • Wasn't Schweriner planning to participate to Champions League? :what:

  • After founding the "VolleyStars Management und Marketing GmbH" on May 5th, 2014, Suhl will remain in 1st league. New GmbH shareholders are various companies and individuals, as well as the VfB 91 Suhl e.V.

Interim Managing Director of the new GmbH will be Sebastian Leipold, who as coach of the 2013/2014 season has contacts with sponsors and officials as well as proving a particular commitment to the sport mode of the VolleyStars. He is supported by the Supervisory Board of the GmbH, which will guide the fortunes of the Suhl volleyball with advisory and monitoring body in the future. This will win back the confidence of longtime sponsors and create a good basis for acquiring new partners for the VolleyStars.

The second decisive decision for Suhl to stay in 1st league was made last Friday, May 16th, 2014. The German volleyball league (DVL) gave, albeit with conditions, green light for the 2014/15 season. "Of course we have a lot of homework ahead of us. Nevertheless, we are glad, that the shareholders, the fans and the DVL show confidence towards us. ", said interim Managing Director Leipold.

Currently preparing the operations of VolleyStars for the season 2014/2015, the main focus is on the stabilization of planned revenue and expenditure, the expansion of the sponsor relations, as well as the sporting season preparation.

  • Julia Osterloh renewed her contract with VC Wiesbaden and will play her 11th :!: season for the club (with 2 years break when she played in other clubs from 2009-2011). She considered accepting an offer from abroad or also retiring, but decided to continue in Wiesbaden. Good decision IMO, she played a really good season and has become a very solid MB.

Deborah van Daelen will definitely leave Stuttgart. Their manager says that already last year she waited very long with her decision and this year the club doesn't wait for her. She doesn't seem to have signed anywhere else yet though...

  • Laura Weihenmaier will leave Ladies in Black. One reason is that the club does not play CEV Cup despite being qualified. She has offers from Italy and France but she thinks that it might be too early for her to go abroad and she is checking all options together with her manager (Hofland). She might also go to another team in Germany...

Pity for Aachen. I'm curious who will be her successor...
