Germany - DVL 1. Bundesliga 2013/14

  • Day of the injuries in German league: Josephine Dörfler (no info why), Martina Utla (shoulder) and Tamari Miyashiro (back) couldn't play at all, Jaroslava Pencova (ankle) and Saskia Hippe (knee) got injured during the matches. Hippe probably has torn ACL, if this is confirmed the season will be over for her ;( Pencova also couldn't walk at all after the match, she was jumping around on her healthy leg in the hall...

EDIT: I just saw in a video clip on Potsdam's FB site that Nikolina Jelic was also sitting on bench with ice and a bandage on her right knee, but I didn't see anything happen during the match...

    SC Potsdam - Dresdner SC 3:1 (25:19, 20:25, 38:36, 25:22)
    http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2013-14/Women/&2023.pdf
MVP: Nikola Radosova / Lisa Izquierdo
Not a very high level match but very exciting, especially 3rd set. After Fresco, also backup OPP Dörfler couldn't play today, so Jessica Rivero had to play as OPP. Another very good match by Lisa Izquierdo, also her reception is getting more and more solid. Becky Perry doesn't seem ready yet to play a full match, even though she did very well the coach took her out after 3rd set. Both teams will meet again on Wednesday for the 1st round of German Cup.

    Köpenicker SC Berlin - Schweriner SC 0:3 (25:27, 22:25, 16:25)
    http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2013-14/Women/&2086.pdf
MVP: Hanne Haugen Aas / Lousi Souza Ziegler
Lousi Ziegler with 26 points in 3 sets. With Hippe's injury, 50% of Schwerin's attacking game is missing now, so Ziegler will have to score so many points in every match now if Schwerin wants to win :S

    Ladies in black AACHEN - VC Wiesbaden 3:0 (25:23, 25:23, 25:20)
    http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2013-14/Women/&2019.pdf
MVP: Tatiana Crkonova / Karine Muijlwijk
I don't understand how Scott could score so many points, in the part of the match I watched she looked very weak and slow and it looked more like a coincidence when she scored, and her backup Stankova is even worse. Aachen won because their MBs did a very good job and at least Laura Weihenmaier could kill high balls, but if they want to beat big teams they need more contribution by Bednarova both in reception and in attack. However their team spirit looked very good. Wiesbaden still hasn't found a solid starting six...today Ksenija Ivanovic made her comeback after shoulder surgery at the end of the match but she couldn't help the team.

    VolleyStars Thüringen - Rote Raben Vilsbiburg 2:3 (21:25, 25:23, 25:21, 20:25, 11:15)
    http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2013-14/Women/&2018.pdf
MVP: Vendula Merkova / Dominique Lamb
4th match, 3rd 2:3 loss for Thüringen :white: Already last season they lost EVERY tie-break throughout the whole season :what: On the other hand I find it impressive that they could win 2 sets without Utla who has been their only reliable scorer in the previous matches. Merkova finally seems to get closer to her usual form. In the next matches Vilsbiburg will be without Hagglund and Miyashiro who join USA NT tomorrow for WGCC.

    Tomorrow: Münster - Stuttgart

  • Next surprise:

    USC Münster - Allianz MTV Stuttgart 3:2 (22:25, 25:23, 23:25, 25:23, 15:12)
    http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2013-14/Women/&2022.pdf
MVP: Ashley Benson / Deborah van Daelen

Stuttgart was leading 19:10 and 20:12 in 3rd set and just managed to win it 25:23, and in 4th set they were also leading all the time (13:6, 16:11, 19:15) until 23:21 but Münster with 4 consecutive points took the match to tiebreak and won. Wiebke Silge didn't start because she recently had an ankle injury and couldn't practise for a week, but she replaced Schwertmann very well at the end. Ashley Benson as MB attacked 43 balls and was best scorer with 26 points, looks like Münster's setters send everything her way when she's at the net :white: And Ines Bathen 67 receptions with 54/42% :super: On the other side van Daelen 51 receptions with 29/18% :|
I guess Nirk can tell us something more about the match...

Ranking (matches played - sets w/l - points):
    1 Rote Raben Vilsbiburg 4 12:2 11
    2 Dresdner SC 4 10:5 9
    3 SC Potsdam 3 7:4 6
    4 Schweriner SC 4 7:6 6
    5 Ladies in black AACHEN 4 6:6 6
    6 Allianz MTV Stuttgart 4 8:9 6
    7 VC Wiesbaden 4 6:7 6
    8 USC Münster 3 6:7 4
    9 Köpenicker SC Berlin 3 4:6 3
    10 VolleyStars Thüringen 4 7:12 3
    11 VT Aurubis Hamburg 3 0:9 0

  • With one week delay, report of Köpenick-Hamburg:

Reports from this weekend's matches should come tomorrow....full matches Potsdam-Dresden and Aachen-Wiesbaden are available on http://www.dvl-live.tv

On Wednesday, the 1st round of German Cup will be played. Most interesting matches should be Potsdam-Dresden and Wiesbaden-Schwerin.

  • Video report about Köpenick-Schwerin, though it's more about Hippe than about the match of course.

She says that the ball was close and far inside, so she had to be careful not to jump onto the opponent's foot and she lost control at the landing. Her whole family was in the hall and carried her off the court eventually ;(

  • The medical exams confirmed it, Saskia Hippe has torn ACL and also a meniscus damage. The season is over for her :(
    Hope she'll recover well!!!

The news doesn't sound like Schwerin will make another transfer, Felix Koslowski says now all players must take more responsibility.

im sad to hear about news about Hippe...get well soon Hippe!

  • That is really sad...she was growing so much in the past months...but she is young..Its not an easy injury to recover from..but I hope she do it well and patiently..so she can come back as good as new! :super:

  • Saskia :( :( :(

All the best for the recovery :flower: :flower: :flower:

  • Two matches of German Cup 1/8 final will be broadcasted as 1 camera streams today:

    06.11.2013 | 19:00 Uhr | DVV-Pokal Achtelfinale: SC Potsdam – Dresdner SC
    06.11.2013 | 20:00 Uhr | DVV-Pokal Achtelfinale: VT Aurubis Hamburg – Köpenicker SC Berlin

Most other matches are 2nd league teams against 1st league teams, in addition to the broadcasted matches only Wiesbaden-Schwerin will be interesting.

  • Jaroslava Pencova will be out for several weeks with torn ankle ligaments from last weekend's match in Potsdam. As every year, Dresden is cursed with injuries...

Schwerin considers signing another player as replacement for Hippe, but only if they find someone who can play on at least the same level...

at least surgery is not needed

  • German Cup 1/8 final

Stralsunder Wildcats - Ladies in black AACHEN 0:3 (16:25, 23:25, 17:25) MVP: ?/ van den Berghen
    VfL Oythe - VolleyStars Thüringen 0:3 (19:25, 11:25, 25:27)
    Allianz MTV Stuttgart II - USC Münster 0:3 (14:25, 13:25, 10:25)
    CPSV Volleys Chemnitz - Rote Raben Vilsbiburg 0:3 (20:25, 19:25, 24:26)
    DSHS SnowTrex Köln - Allianz MTV Stuttgart 0:3 (13:25, 13:25, 15:25)
    SC Potsdam - Dresdner SC 1:3 (25:17, 20:25, 15:25, 22:25) Stats MVP: Rivero / Perry
    VC Wiesbaden - Schweriner SC 1:3 (16:25, 25:22, 10:25, 13:25) Stats MVP: Viestova / Radenkovic
    VT Aurubis Hamburg - Köpenicker SC Berlin 3:1 (25:19, 26:24, 21:25, 25:13) Stats MVP: Ammerman / Aas

No surprises. Oythe and Chemnitz had two set points each against 1st league teams but couldn't use them. Many 1st league teams played with some substitutes. Hamburg with the first victory of the season, but Köpenick was simply terrible today.

DOL for Quarterfinal will be tomorrow.

  • I've added some MVPs to the post above.

    DOL for QF:
Rote Raben Vilsbiburg – Ladies in Black Aachen
Dresdner SC – VT Aurubis Hamburg
Schweriner SC – Allianz MTV Stuttgart
    USC Münster – VolleyStars Thüringen

Good draw, there's no match between two big teams in QF yet, so we have the chance to get a very good final this time. I guess Vilsbiburg, Dresden and Schwerin will make it to semifinal, 4th match is absolutely open.

    ...

Definetly not a good draw, because it was made in infraction to the rules of the Pokalspielordnung (cup play regulations) source (PDF, german) DOL for the next cup round have to be made publicly in connection with a cup match of the ongoing cup round (paragraph 3.1 and 3.2) and definetly not in the office of the DVL.

Not to mention that a "cup" competition draws quite a lot of its attractiveness from the fact, that also smaller team have a chance to advance to the finals. So even if this DOL would have been made within the regulations I would not consider it as a good draw. If you want the top 4 teams in the semis, you can play a tournament and put aside the other rounds. ;)

Felix is now coaching Dresden? :white:
