I think with the old scoring system it was kind of easier to have so many swings because matches could last much longer. Probably most of Karpol's OHs had appx 100 attempts in the 90s, and watching the 88 OG final I would guess that Smirnova and Sidorenko both must have at least 80 attacks in that match as well, probably more.

is it? I remember they looked so bad during Eurovolley 2021 having Stranzali and Anthi. Both of them struggled with passing.

Greece at eurovolley 21 was a complete mess
plus Anthi has improved her reception since 2021 and Anthouli is now 19 years y.o.(more experienced I believe).
Otoh I think Anthi made the right choice not to be part of that team.The federation worked with a part time coach Abbondanza and had to change him at the last moment with the turkish one.With no planning you can not achieve good results.
Anthi preferred to rest her body this summer and to work better with Zhe Roberto.We 'll see if she did the right thing.

Greece is always a mess . We could have a much better team but the federation is useless. We do not have Anthi who all know that she is a world class OH and we do not have our best MB by far . Also there are some specific rules about the Cyprian players who are essentially Greek. So if the federation was interesting a little they could have approach the MB Zakchaiou and the OH Konstantinou who is more ballanced than the other greek OH ( who all are receivers like Anthi and Stranzali or worst...). And this is not considering as naturalization because as I said Cyprian are Greek. Also we already have a good setter and there is a really good setter ( Papafotiou) who is not NT right now and we also have a good libero ( Artakianou who played the the system with two receivers the last season in AEK and she was excellent) So Greece would had a team to win challenger cup and to do something good in Europe but because of the federation we probably will fight to win some sets . The absolute failure.

By the way Cyprian are not Greek , they have a sovereign country. It is like calling Bosnians Turkish since Ottoman ruled that land before. So if they would have tried to get zakchaiou, it would definitely be a naturalization despite of whatever double standard you set🤦

We even talk the same language , in our leauge the Cyprians are considering as locals and as I said before there are special rules between two countries ( not only in volleyball). Anyway in men team our best player is from Cyprus and is considering as a Greek. Ι want to say that , practically it is not considered as if someone was natularised. Was a different procedure. That means for exaple that we can take two Cyprians in the team and naturalized someone else like a player from USA.
