That was a very tough challenge. Even in super slowmotion you couldn't tell 100% sure if there was a touch or not

Ravens: yes but they had Aguero between 2007-2009 and Gioli that could be a great spiker too and also Picci and Del Core in much better shape.. With these other hitters, Egonu is needed as Diouf is not always reliable and is anyway not enough.
They had 5 spikers and 1 world class blocker (Barazza). And OHs could kill both high and fast balls. The quality of the players in different now, expecially OHs. -
What a way to finish
Bonitta took an incredible risk with his players choices and it almost backfired when the youngsters made some mistakes towards the end, but after all it sooo paid off!
Danesi played one hell of a tie-break
Diouf after terrible 3rd set was very important in the last two sets. Egonu was surely the MVP of this match. -
OMG, Egonu won this match by herself, I think she is a little bit of young Carillo at this point.

I wonder how Belgium won in 4 sets against Poland. Both teams sucked so far. This isn't OG material, like most of the 8 teams. I can say for sure just Turkey, Netherlands and Kosheleva are.
On the other side this tournament sucks. Half of the players are out of shape. Most of the matches are afflicted by the poor time the teams had to prepare their game.

It was not fixed... Niemczyk wrote about it in his book. More German players were food-poisoned, not only Grun. But Germany started the game with them and Niemczyk ordered girls to lose first set, they lost. And then German coach took poisoned players off to give them rest and Poland won. Simple as that. The match was not fixed, Niemczyk just let them win first set to see if they take Grun off and they did. It was rather good startegy than fixing...
He wrote something like "I would never fix the match. But you have to do everything withing the rules to help your team". Fixing is when 2 teams cooperate in it, not only one...
So it was stupid of German coach, he would have won the match 3-0 with food-poisoned players. Sounds totally legit.

Poland didn't use their chance, jsut that... Belgium didn't do anything great but wasn't making studip mistakes.

Italy played 5th set with Danesi (first set in whole tournment she was from the beginning), Egonu and Orro. All of them are less than 20. It was, indeed, very risky. Danesi was really good in the beginning, but then, the 3 of them, showed some nerves, which is normal at this age. For example, the bad setting to Danesi in the 13 point...But then, in the key moments Orro and Egonu were seemed experienced players.
Orro fought and won so many balls in the net when it was 15-15.
Anyway, Belgium also played a good match. Leys doesnt help so much in attack, but she was digging many balls. Courtois was really weak in passing. Really week. Did Belgium bring another libero?
It is normal Italy celebrates in this way, but they have to remember they havent passed to the next stage. Poland is waiting for them, and poles still have chances.
