The 1994 final is another clash between the Dutch and the Italians.
In my opinion, not yet the same quality of play as demonstrated in the 95 and 96 finals (European Championships and Olympics), but nevertheless still very enjoyable.
On the Dutch side, Vandergoor is used as a wing/reception type of player (an experiment that only lasted during the 94 World League and World Championships).
In previous matches in the tournament, they even substituted Vandermeulen for Held on the opposite position, which meant the Dutch line-up counted 4 typical middle blockers (Vandergoor, Held, Zoodsma, Posthuma).
The Italians put Zorzi in the middle, while in the back he is playing his typical role as back-row attacker.
Olympic champion Brazil finally clinches a dissapointing 5th place.
