Serbia NT 2014

  • well i think we can all agree that the WGP was a disappointment. do you guys think that Serbia have any chance of getting a medal at WCH? also, what changes would you like Terzic to make before the WCH, or would you like to see the same starters and Brakocevic if she can play?

Terzic is too stubborn and he relies on Nikolic and Molnar too often :aww: IMHO Malesevic should be OH2, though she didn't get so many chances, but she really can't be worse than Nikolic or especially than Molnar -.- rest looks quite ok for me, I still hope that Malagurski can improve and play smarter - instead of hard hitting every time she should use brain. Unfortunately Bjelica seems to be too weak to be starting OP...

In this case line-up: Ognjenovic - Mihajlovic - Rasic - Brakocevic/Malagurski* - Malesevic - Krsmanovic - Cebic (L) seems to be ok for me
As backups I'd see: Zivkovic/Radenkovic, Bjelica, Blagojevic, Malagurski/Nikolic* (only if Brakocevic isn't ready, if she's ready than Malaurski takes this slot), Veljkovic, Stevanovic (Ninkovic doesn't get chances, so Stevanovic can be instead because she did great job in Italy), Popovic (L)

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • yeah, I really agree with both of you. I really don't think they can medal at all unless Brakocevic returns, and even if she does its unlikely that they will perform very well. I think that serving, blocking and setting are all reasonably strong, but scoring is poor (this is mainly because Malagurski and Bjelica are not good enough starting OPPs) and reception is just terrible. I can forgive Mihajlovic because at least she scores points, but Nikolic and Molnar do nothing. They have been good players but it is time for them to go.

The other problem is Terzic. He will not change anything for some unknown reason and his time-outs are useless, he just uses them to yell at the players and I feel as though he demotivates them.

  • Troubles looming... Jovana Brakocevic says she's tired of disappointments and is not sure whether she's going to continue on NT. She also hints that she expected to play more at WCH and states that she was almost 100% physically.

I understand she's disappointed and sad, but I don't like this. Whenever she entered the court at this tournament, she didn't show she could give more than Boskovic at this point.

But I guess this all means that the atmosphere is not good. And it still hasn't been resolved what happened to Malagurski.

  • main problem of Serbian team is head. Every coach should be able to use player on right way and to find way how to motivate players and boost team with confidence to present best possible. When you have such two strong attackers in team as Mihajlovic and Boskovic (Brakocevic) you need to boost they confidence that they are best. If in crucial moments this two players hit out or get blocked than is clear that confidence is not on highest level. Me being Serb and seeing this weak mentality of player makes me really unhappy. They lost to US only because they went in match with mind set that US is better, Murphy is nothing better than Boskovic and non US outside hitter is stronger that Mihajlovic in attack. If we compare this two team player one on one Serbia will eventual come out as winner, but Us has for decades already that opinion about they self that they are best and that's why they wining most strong matches.

Malagurski didn't have place in this team of Serbia, no quality to be there, every player who was in WCH is better than Malagurski. If Brakocevic decide to not play for Serbian team any more it will make any difference, Boskovic is playing in this moment on higher level that her. And let's not forget, Brakocevic in right side and Nikolic left, not to compare.

  • If Boskovic had played badly and yet Terzic insisted on her, Brakocevic's anger and frustration would have been completely justified. But that's not what happened, Boskovic was an absolute revelation of the tournament and totally deserved every second of play time she got. The reason why Serbia failed was not because of lack of contribution from the opposite hitter.
This way it just looks like Brakocevic's ego is hurt because she lost the place in the starting lineup to a 17-year old player, and it's not a good look.

  • nikolic is oh wile brako is opp so there is no comparson, lol of course there is even if there is no receive brako would have been a better fit for oh

btw yeah yeah yeah go for nikolic who is a washed up player

  • the main problem was reception, I think. Cebic played poorly all tournament, Nikolic and Molnar are useless and Mihajlovic is very weak on reception. Terzic should bring in Blagojevic or Malesevic to solve this problem, but he never does.

  • i found Boskovic's mentality very ahead in comparison with her age like Brazilian Gabi...this is both good and bad,imo...i cant say the same for Mihaylovic...she still needs to improve her mentality for tough matches..

i dont like players like Krsmanovic.. they played pretty well against Turkey and was a very crucial player in the win but then she disapperaed in the matches matter most whereas Rasiç appeared as a middle.
Veljkovic is a very good middle but i think she lacks ambition, she is a cool girl ..am i wrong ?
Serbia should find better players instead of Nikolic-Molnar
After Ognjenovic, Anteniovic should be the first setter..Serbia lacks a player like Gözde Sonsırma,Jaquelne,Garay even Gabi ...both defensive and offensive when needed..

  • This is the last time i m gonna write bout Serbian nt cause i m so freaking tired of it so i m gonna post all things that i think should change
1 Mentality - As Serbian i can say with all honesty when things get tough people from Serbia just give up in and yes i m generalizing best exdample is game against Russia where they practically gave up after the first set aka loser mentality
2 Attitude -towards the opponents or the game like somebody wrote they allready made up in their minds that some teams are better then them or they just lack the will to play sometimes i see them looking at their nails their make up and their hair chatting on the court and stuff they can t stay focused on the bloody game for 2 hours it is so freaking annoying when they play for the club u can t see any of that
3 Coach -Terzic is just a clown all that man is doing is yelling hit it hard hit it strong has no tactical knowledge if u look at the names individually Serbia is in top 3 country in the world imo yet their results are nowhere near their quality of the players they have in nt while that clown is nt there wont be any new names and no progression
4 Volleyball Federation -We have a gang like system in our federation in every sport no new names no nothing same old for the past 15 years doesnt matter how good u are it all comes down to what agent or agency u have so it all comes down to money
5 Players -Some of them don t deserve to be in the nt at all just by looking at their shape Zivkovic slow setter with no variety of sets Nikolic no reception no spike no digging no block basiclly a big hole Molnar even worse then Nikolic Cebic so slow not reading the game at all can t dig at all rofl isnt that what libero should do ? In general Serbian players are freaking clumsy as well they make so many stupid mistakes it ain t even funny
6 Play style -They dont have reception or defense if the opposite team hits the ball bit harder then normally pass the block they can t return it ,they can t dig at all it is so bad that i think they are the worse nt in the world when it comes to digging

  • agree with almost everything, especially the bolded

as far as the future of the team goes, the first thing i'd like to see happen is Terzic replaced. The man is a fool and he shows it in almost every match. His substitutions are ridiculous, bringing on Zivkovic every few sets so she can ruin the attack and miss a few serves. I don't speak the language, but by his body language it is obvious he gets angry at even the smallest error and is generally pessimistic. People have already said that sometimes Serbia look beaten before they have even started, but it is him that should give them confidence and drive to win and he always just looks like he wants to punch someone in the face.

Cebic has played badly recently, but I'm not convinced Popovic would be much of an improvement, I'd also like to see Krsmanovic stay in the team, she is still a useful player, probably better than Veljkovic.

I think that Boskovic is a very good player, but if Brakocevic was really 100% then she should have been playing. She has come through for Serbia many times over the years and is one of the greatest OPPs in the world.

I fear that nothing will change, but maybe the success of Boskovic can show to Terzic that times have changed, its not 2011 anymore and new players need to be brought in.

  • I think you are pretty harsh to Terziç. Although I agree about his bad attitude against players during timeouts and being any smart tactic, I generally agree with his roster choice. He showed everybody that he has balls to let 17 years old unknown player to play during whole tournament in the presence of an healthy world class opposite such as Brakoçeviç :white: Can you name any other trainer who has such balls? I can only recall Deniz Esinduy who did the same and let Neslihan play in 2003 ECh.

Also about Molnar, I think she did pretty ok job by considering the fact that she was supposed to receive %70-80 of the serves on her own  Who else can receive that many balls and still get reasonable reception stats? Certainly not Maleseviç andI wouldn't count on Blagojeviç neither

Zivkoviç had a very good season in Turkey last season. She might be not the most creative setter in the world but she has a good technique and her serve&block is pretty good too. Antonijeviç was injured, so who would you prefer instead of Zivkoviç? I wouldn't choose less experienced Radenkoviç

I accept that Cebiç didn't show a good performance overall. However, she is not a bad libero at all. Popoviç is also very overrated, at least not better than Cebiç.

I only agree about that taking Nikoliç instead of Malagurski might be wrong. Still, it is not very stupid idea. Terziç might want to have more experienced players such as Nikoliç

  • Well yeah, as far as roster choice goes, Terzic generally did an OK job. I agree that Cebic is better than Popovic and Zivkovic is not much worse than Radenkovic. The only problem was at OH. I can understand that he trusts Nikolic and Molnar because of their past success, but anyone can see that they have no place in the team anymore. There are so many options, but he insists on playing the same old players.

  • Terzic's comments on WCh:

    - Serbia played better than expected
    - The draw was unlucky
    - Brazil, Russia and USA are much better
    - We are a small country with few players and cannot expect miracles every time
    - Boskovic was in better shape than Brakocevic and that's why she was the first choice
    - He is not going to resign

This loser mentality is starting to get on my nerves. Russia at least was definitely not unbeatable.
