The 2015 CEV Cup

  • And IMO middles don't have to be tall anymore, like people thought before.. that Argentinian is Emilce Sosa and she is really good, but others I can thing of are Jackson from USA, Carol from Brazil, Karg from Germany, Asli from Turkey..

I admit we usually think they have to be pretty tall but lately it's not that important.. Look at Merkulova, what does she do with her height.. Some won't agree probably but...

  • Didn't you know that Silva is universal player? :D I remembered her playing both as OP and MB, I couldn't remember her only as OH

And congrats to Sopot :D Zaroślińska, Leys, blocks by Cooper and serves by Kaczorowska made difference ^^

Thanks :flower: almost 5 years passed from that match, time flies :D so many missing Cubans - all on court escaped :white: I wonder who was on bench in those times... even Sanchez and Arredondo were there 8o

well i'd prefer tall and efficient middles to the short ones..those short middles you referred to , have some good qualities ..Jackson is athletic,Sosa too.Carol is a good blocker a fast player,Aslı has talent but these are not valid for Melis..you cant be a good middle just with your serve..

I would say, if you are around 190 cm, it is a clear advantage as a MB. It's really difficult for a short middle to make a small jump in the center (to stop center attacks or the setter) and then land and move to the edges, while most tall centers just only hold their hands and jump really short to cut such center attacks. Melis is not even an average center. I watched almost all the games of GsD this season and this is one of her best games. Really sad for her but her next stop will be a mediocre team in Turkey. About Asli Kalac, she is really smart, fast and has good technique while her height creates a big disadvantage and you can read it when you watch her. She is always on the right place to block but she barely can block tall centers. Same problem when she attacks from zone 3. She should focus on doing slides instead which she used to last year.

In overall GsD has the power to beat Atom in Istanbul. They played terrible there and Atom could not win the sets with gaps still. Meijners and Centoni should take more responsibility then this, they can't keep getting blocked in crucial parts of the games. Especially the attempts to attack from zone 6 were horrible. Felt like Meijners tried it the first time ever in her life. With better receptions, better serves and team play, GsD can push Atom out but lets see how will it go.

  • Seems still to be the same procedure: http://ebook.cev.lu/competitions/cuprankings/index.html#4

Distribution of spot-(rights) looks very similar to last time (new: Slovenia with a "Champions league participation right" (instead of Austria)).

The Female schedule has changed... Wil be increase 4 teams if i'm right, the competition will not be more with 20 teams.

German took one more Spot in CEV Champions League
Slovenia and Belgium are increased 1 spot in the competition
Finland Lost your spot... And CEV will give 2 Wild Cards for any european club.. with that i'm sure that Krasnodar will participate of CEV Champions League..

Yes, that is what I remember from earlier discussions too. Hopefully Krasnodar and GsD will receive the wildcards next season (considering GsD will make some good transfers this summer).

It is pretty strange that CEV does not save a spot for the CEV cup winner at CEV champions league.

  • I think that will be the right give the wild cards for the CEV cup winner at CEV champions league... but it's not how volleyball federations do your things... World club championships will not have Kazan for defend his Title.. makes not sense.. this occurs with Osasco too one time.

Krasnodar had make a big deals for next season, I don't know if Galatasaray will receive a wild card too.. i think that Krasnodar receive a wild card just it's too much becausa Russia Federation already have 3 spots.. do the same with turkish clubs...

Wild Card it's not toltally a mistake in Volleyball because the system it's different, clubs can make big transfers in be powerful in one year.. this happens.. Spain already had Murcia for example..

  • Rabita looked a mess today, especially for the line up: no sure OPP nor OHs, with Skowronska that had to receive (and was of course the target of Krasnodar's serves), with Cruz that had to give stability in defense and reception but did basically nothing and with the cubans that made a lot of mistakes and kept on hitting harder and harder after every block the russians made!

  • Refs are pretty bad I agree but the main referee gave quite good decisions and fixed most errors. GsD players should stop claiming its out all the time, its annoying.
Zaroslinska said "Kurva" first and then said something else when it was 23-22 and got a red card for that. :aww:

This is a good semi-final so far!

Are you kidding me? He's horrible. He made 5 or 6 mistakes in 2 sets! That's good referee?

  • Main Referee in Gs-PGE match makes me laugh, Gs will win with him, such a
