2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

  • Do any of our Argentinian friends have an update on #9 Clarisa Sagardia and the libero, #12 Tatiana Rizzo after their face to face collision yesterday? I hope they are able to make it back on court tonight

Rizzo had a cheekbone fracture and is out of World Championship.

Clarisa had a fracture in her nose but still not sure if she can play or not.

Too bad for Agentina team :(

Very Sad :( I was hoping it wouldn't turn out to be as bad as it looked. Thank you for the update

  • I can't respect Maja Ognjenovic's game while her settings 3 for Veljkovic, 5 for Malesevic and 4 for herself.

But u know....like some users have been saying... Serbia won`t be setting the middles and that`s it.... Terzic said before they should start using the middles more...but of course he just said that... The reason Maja did not set the middles is because that is what Terzic wants.... Zivkovi, Ana and Mirkovic did not the middles as well....that only shows that is Terzic`s game plan.... It sucks because I hate watching the middles get ignored and last night OMGGGGG I felt bad Veljekovic....she was wide open so many times and Maja would not set her....Also when Milenkovic came in Maja set her 0 times....not a single set.

But I still love watching Maja play..

Mihajlovic is BACK...and Malesevic did a nice job until set 3...can`t wait when they play Brazil.

  • some of these scores are really scary...

but it’s also true some teams have declined a lot from their past form. DOM, PUR, KAZ, even ARG, used to play at a much higher level than their current form.

i should have added BUL to that list... just watched the first set against ITA. egonu didn't even have to do much, and it was a walk in the park for ITA.

i don't get what chausheva is doing on court. she's an OPP that gets no sets????

somebody remind me, why are rabadzhieva, vasileva and nikolova not here?

  • somebody remind me, why are rabadzhieva, vasileva and nikolova not here?

Vasileva had a season ending shoulder injury with Kazan...I don`t think she`s fully recovered.

And it was said Rabadzhieva is injured also.....But then a Bulgarian user said that actually the Bulgarian Federation basically wanted to go with a younger group ...like trying to build something with the young generation. ( but is not like these 3 are even 30 already).

And that seems to be true because I have seen a photo of Vasileva already in Italy with Scandicci...and I saw a photo of Rabadzhieva in the airport leaving China.....

  • Watching the KOR v THA match from last night. Fun fun volleyball. It occurs to me that Thailand's winning ways this year coincided with the return of Thatdao. She didn't play at the VNL. Is that right?

Speaking of hair, watched some USA highlights ... Foluke! And she's not wearing her glasses. I thought she suffered an eye injury early in her career and they were all about protection. Still the coolest looking volleyball player!

Yes correct. Thatdao's return is a really big help to the team. Her almost 2 season absence due to an ACL injury in 2016 club season was a big blow for Thailand. She is one of the two 6 footer players on the team(the other is Chitaporn #14 who is new to the team just this year and has not much international experiences at the world stage yet). Thatdao helps both in blocking higher and hitting strong fast balls.

  • Meanwhile USA plays with many usually not starting six players, obviously they take T & T not seriously, but likely they need not. The only strong player in Trinidad & Tobago internationally known is Sinead Jack (middle).

  • Yes, all four favourite teams are pretty much in control of their matches. Even German NT, the weakest among them, found the key to keep Cameroon out of the match so far.

  • lol the level of current women's volleyball is terrible, everything outside the top 6/7 teams is a 3-0 with +10 point difference per set.

  • About the hall, may be there's a slight justification: I guess it's a morning match there? (didn't do the count)

    Still, they could've invited school...

What a pity what happened between the Argentinian players!

  • Italy again 19-10... and we're not playing flawlessly.

I thought Canada was stronger (but may be I'm speaking too soon...?)

I'm a bit annoyed by the replies: they include the last action and not the most interesting one...

  • As an Argentina fan, the sooner we are out the better. The coach is awful and should have been fired like 2 years ago but somehow is still in the job because the federation doesn't really care about women's volleyball, so any donkey could coach them for all they care. The team has only 2 semi-decent players but the moron in charge dropped Nizetich cuz he didn't like genuine criticism from her.

I hope Cameroon can beat our team, no will to watch all those 3-0s in the 2nd round.
