2015 World Cup - Japan - 9/8

  • What a terrible performance by Iran! It was an early and upsetting goodbye to Rio. I hope they recover and change their level otherwise they will finish sth like 7th.

  • It looks like a nice little warm-up for Poland for tomorrows clash with Russia. I see that Lomacz is starting in all sets. Has he conquered the first setter position from Drzyzga?

  • Happy with the victory for Italy. They started well, against an opponent that couldn't be underestimated. Anyway I hope that our performance rises through out the tournament as there are going to be stronger opponents. Good to see that Juantorena is fine and in shape...my only doubt is for the MB position, due to the absence of Bira!

I didn't expect Iran to lose, the start for them has been really negative and everything looks already ruined!

  • Good victory but in tournament like this we have to roll the bench, in particular I hope to on the court more Anzani than Piano, Moreover, we have to consider that all our players of line-up got injured during last year (expect Giannelli and Colaci)

Per un pir, un pam un persec per na brogna e na rumleina, nuetr'a sam d'la Ghirlandeina nuetr'a sam da rispeter

  • Italy is not a dark horse with Zaytsev and Juantorena, more of a favorite for the gold.

Nah, it's just Stephane saying he needs two solid setters because WC is a long tournament. I expect Fabian to be a starter against Russians tomorrow. Though of course today's decision to start with Łomacz was widely discussed in our pre-match studio and our experts almost all jointly and severally said Drzyzga should start because it's just the beginning of the tournament and he needs play time to be ready for tomorrow. And there is already a guesswork that maybe Stephane is not 100% sure of Fabian. And now, when Zagumny is coming back to NT in wide roster for ECh, discussions will never end... I'm just hoping it's not the matter of Drzyzga's weaker shape...

  • Giannelli is selected as the MVP of the match (6 aces,3 blocks) but I think his setting was below average. Zaytsev was clearly not happy with the setting.
Lanza suddenly emerged as the weak link in the reception which Australia couldn't convert to its advantage.
And Osmany needs to lose weight because he looks overweight, like the second coming of Luiz Diaz  Also he needs to stop screaming so loudly 'haydi', Turkish word for 'come on'
I don't think anybody listens Blengini at the time-outs.He looks like a little child next to players :P
For me Italy was below expectations, the score was mostly determined by Australian mistakes, yesterday USA looked much better than them against the same opponent.
Australia must be the tournament's worst team along with Tunusia

  • Argentina goes from beating Iran 3-1 to losing against Venezuela 2-1...
Venezuela still looks kinda amateur-ish at times. I miss that generation that could stop even Brazil at their peak.

We say "hayde" for come on in Bulgarian :) He may have catched from years with Stoychev and Kaziyski too

  • I already can't believe in what's goin' on today, tie-break in Argentina - Venezuela, tie-break in Egypt - Canada...

And Iran- Tunisia wasn't far from tie break, I can only hope these are just downs and ups and finally Iran could reach "ups area".

  • Ok, Muserskiy playing opposite and mikhailov is OH. As discussed in the NT thread i was sceptical of this move. So lets see how this turns out....

  • Russia is coming back from 20:24 to take the first set :white:

The general level of this match is really far from impressive so far.

  • I'm afraid that this passionate but blind love Stephane feels for Nowakowski (which happened to give first signs one year ago during WCh) will one day cost us a lot...

This is a very blocking and a max firepower line-up. However, not the best serving and receiving. The q is not how Muserskiy performs from the opp but rather how Mikhaylov receives/goes from four. Note that he was almost absent in the first set.
