Was he resting for injuries during the clubs season?
Underperformance or injuries. Probably both. scarpetta probably knows more about this.

Woo~ Another cool-headed play from Kurek!
So the real final was between USA and Poland. ![]()
At least Brazil fights until the end...
So the real final was between USA and Poland.
The final game is indeed of a very high quality.
What a good game! This is a real final. Big Congrats to the Polish team. Many players from this team don't have the experience in playing in such a big final game, but they handled this so well.
Without Wilfredo fucking Leon!![]()
Congrats Poland! ![]()
In pure volleyball terms, Poland definitely deserved this victory, so congrats to them! I wish the match had lasted longer than 3 sets, but Poland was too good today.
Congratulations, Poland! Great match! Kurek deserves all the reverences!
Brazil played a bad match, but I’m proud of this team, they had a great come back in the last set, and was playing without Lucarelli and Mauricio Borges and even thought achieved their 5th final in a row, that’s huge!
Hope Douglas get an award, he deserves it!
My guess (not my pick
)of the best players' awards:
MVP: Kurek (POL)
Opp: Anderson (USA)
OH: Sander (USA), Souza (BRA)
MB: Kurkaev (RUS), Anzani (ITA)
S: Christenson (USA)
L: Zatorski (POL)
Wonderful, wonderful Poland, and such a deserved victory!
It was a very beautiful match, because even when it seemed to go clearly in Poland direction, Brazil managed to came back and put a twist in it, plus the level was outstanding.
Kurek MVP, Kubik has to be awarded.
Tough one for the MBs, I'll still stand for Lucas because Brazil need an award; for the setter, Drzyzga was very good, but I guess this is an award that can go to USA (and/or opposite, with Kurek MVP: Also Wallace may be as opposite).
Douglas as other OH...
Ps little congrats to the italian Referee Pasquale, at his last match of his career. Imho he was very good, and I think most of the challenges were unsuccessful.
OMG, Rai isn't showing the award ceremony!!! Any link? ![]()

5/8 hit rate. I don't know that they only picked the best players from the final four.
Here's the list of actual awardees:
MVP: Kurek (POL)
Opp: Anderson (USA)
OH: Kubiak (POL), Souza (BRA)
MB: Nowakowski (POL), Lucas (BRA)
S: Christenson (USA)
L: Zatorski (POL)
For the first time ever I (almost) nailed it!! ![]()
Sorry Nowa for not mentioning you ![]()
Oh, no, I also forgot the libero.
Congrats to all of them!! Well deserved!!
Poland was amazing, Kurek was unstoppable but also all the, other players played on a really high level. Brazil had some good moments, but Poland controlled the whole match. Congrats!!
Reasonable Dream Team.
I'm glad Zatorski won the award. He is the best libero of this world championship final 4.![]()
To be honest, with Kurek and the OHs in this level, León should start from the bench...
Szalpuk played well, but Leon can still strengthen the squad much further as Kubiak's opposite.
