people underestimate sassa because she's not the most powerful attacker. volleyball isn't just about hitting high balls you know? sassa is/was an all-around player. perfect passer, defender, server, and despite her height she used to be a decent attacker.

really? Kosheleva or De la Cruz etc..?try watching 2003-2008 games. there's a reason why mari was chosen as brazil's main OPP back 03-04 over sheilla. she was just lethal as OPP. commentators like sunderland and kevin barnett often say that mari is/was simply unblockable/undiggable circa 2007/2008.
anyway, that was years ago. today, she's just...... less than average.

Sassá is not more playing like a couple years ago.. she dropped your level a lot... She always was good in a valuable player for NT, but now she is not even been a good player in back row... that is my opinion..

Sassá would be AMAZING...as libero. OH is about receiving, defending AND spiking, which she clearly can't do anymore

Why everybody have this dislike for Sassá? For me, she is a good passer and defense and can help stabilize reception. Mayber her attack is not as strong, but she also have the experience, playing for NT by Athens already
Maybe Coach Ze will use her like the way he did in 2008 -- backrow specialist to stabilize the defense and the passing during crucial moment.

never really recovered after her injury.And to think of it, she was just playing in the junior league when she was invited to the NT and quickly became the rising star of the team. Superliga 2004 was the year of Mari. She was a stable name on the NT because she kills the ball high and so powerful, something Fe Garay and Jaque can't do well today. Truth to be honest, Mari and Paula is irreplacable -- even though it seems like the Jaque and Garay duo is a household name nowadays.

In August, Brazil will hold a friendly tournament in Maracanazinho (Olympic Gym).
So far three teams are confirmed: Bulgaria, Netherlands and Germany.
Brazil will also hold other two friendly matches against the Netherlands in this period, but the places are not stabilished yet.
In June, after Montreux, Japan will come to Brazil for 4 friendly games, I read the last one will be also in Maracanazinho.

Garay should definitely take a break. It's not like the team is lacking an offensive OH.
And damn, that is a wide list. lol Basically anyone that didn't completely suck is in it seems. Our OPPs though.

For those who doesn't know, Bia and Suelen are girlfriend and they don't want to play for the NT for personal reasons... The rumors are that Ze Roberto decided to sign with Michelle Daldegan for Amil Campinas 2nd season and then Suelen was sad because they said that she needed to loose height to be a top player and continue playing (and in some parts I agree with that).
So she had to change her club and she went to Sesi. She was really upset, Zé decided to not call her for the NT and in Sesi she met with Bia, which is her girlfriend right now, and Bia is angry with Ze's decision about Suelen. Another thing that people say here is that both don't want to play before 2016 because they don't think that they have chance to be in the olympics (which is such a dumb thing, since Carol and Bia are both good and young players that I think that they can compete for a spot in 2016, since Adenízia is not thaaaaaaat player anymore.

I agree about Michelle... But the problem is like a marketing thing... Because the media was always talking about Suelen, saying that she fights against her weight and this things. So it wasn't good for the sponson Amil (which is a health insurance company)

As you said she is in vacation with Suelen in Cancun and this month is the worst month in university in Brazil (since we have a lot of tests, final exams, and all kind of stuff). I really don't think that's is the reason that Bia is saying no for NT.

It envolve more personal reasons because of her relationship with Suelen. The relationship started when Suelen transfered to Sesi, because before that she used to have a boyfriend for so many years (I remember that he was her boyfriend at least since she was playing for São Caetano in season 2009/2010) and then they broke up when she was playing for Amil.
