  • Italy's Roberto Piazza has been named to manage Qatar's Men's National Team when they make their debut in the 2016 FIVB World League, later this season, announced the Qatar Volleyball Association.

The 48-year-old coach will join Qatar immediately after the end of the domestic season in Greece, where he currently coaches table leaders Olympiacos Piraeus in the men's A1 Legue.

Piazza replaces Juan Cichello, who left Qatar for Iran as assistant coach to Raul Lozano.

In addition to the World League, Qatar will also compete in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup in India, as well as the Arab Championship in Jordan, both next September.

Yes but with Christenson, Grebennikov, Podrascanin and Stankovic they can't have a second foreign OH besides Juantorena. That's why I think he's not a sub for Juantorena..either they play with Cester (italian MB), but in that case they have also Cebulj... I think it is quite a mess! ?(

Sorry my double change doesn't really make sense, anyway I think that hiring another foreign OH is not so reasonable as they have strong foreigners essential for the team..Priddy would be too much!

  • Stanislav Petkov (Bulgarian NT, OH, 28-year-old, 202 cm, Maliye Milli Piyango) returns to Bulgaria and will join Victoria Volley in the second Bulgarian league. He is still recovering from an injury which prevented him from performing in Turkey. If I am not mistaken, he played no games for Maliye.

Also, Konstantin Mitev (ex-Bulgarian NT member, setter, 195 cm, 31-year-old, Tomis Constanta) returns to Arda Kardzhali. The reason is clear - the financial situation in Constanta.

  • David Lee and Jayson Jablonsky in PAOK.

PAOK's club website says David Lee will replace Krasimir Georgiev. I am not sure what the foreigners' limit in Greece is, maybe they are unhappy with their players, with him specifically or with the overall game level and results (about the results for sure, they fired their head coach Zhelyazkov already and clearly expressed their disappointment). As of tomorrow, PAOK would most probably only focus on the domestic league.

I will write here in case Krasimir Georgiev returns to Bulgaria, perhaps to CSKA Sofia.

I was listening to PAOK's general manager on the radio the other day and he said that they were quite happy by Georgiev's performance so far. He said that their intention was to add only an OH (they were initially interested in Priddy) but when you have the opportunity to sign on the best MBs in the world (Lee) for reasonable money, you have to take it.
And since only 4 foreigners are allowed in Greek Volleyleague, Georgiev was the the one to leave the team.

  • Daniele Bagnoli, former coach of Sisley Treviso, Dinamo Moscow, the Russian NT, etc., has been appointed as a head coach of CS Sfaxien in Tunisia.

  • Official Butko in Kazan.

Also Abrosimov left Lokomotiv. No official info about his new team but probably he will sign contract with Ural.
