Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2015/16

  • Sunday:
14.00 VfB Friedrichshafen vs. BR Volleys

Berlin is winning 3:0 (-18,-20,-22) in Friedrichshafen.
    stats: http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2015-16/Men/&1021.pdf

A bit surprisingly, after only two training sessions, Arslan Eksi played the whole match for VfB. Obviously Moculescu doesn't care too much about winning the match at this point of the season. Especially Geiler (1/11) suffered in attack.

Herrsching is stopping its litlle downtrend with a victory in Rottenburg, while Coburg delivers a little surprise with a victory against Lüneburg. Klobucar seems to have arrived in his team finally. Nice numbers for him in a convincing victory for United Volleys.

Last but not least: Yavor's view on the state of the league on volleycountry`s blog. Great read, once again (what about a link to this thread next time ? 8) ):

  • Results:

Netzhoppers vs. Berlin 1:3 (25:22,18:25,23:25,22:25) stats
Herrsching vs. United Volleys 3:0 (25:18,25:23,25:17) stats

    Bühl vs. Coburg/grub 1:3 (25:17,23:25,18:25,17:25) stats

  • If one looks at the results so far, United Volleys came to Herrsching as the leder in ranking (and lost 3:0).
But mostly unnoticed is the fact that also Coburg only lost it's first match in Friedrichshafen and also has one match less that the others.

And their next opponent is ... Herrsching.
So normally on Nov. 29th Coburg-Herrsching should be titled as the "match of the week".

I am looking forward to this. :cheesy:

Even if Berlin and Friedrichshafen still will dominate the league, the rest of the teams seem to have improved a lot !
Düren beating Lyon in CEV cup with two clear wins, and the matchups between the favourites and the runner-ups still to come:

    United-Düren 28.11.
    Berlin-United 13.12.
    Düren-Friedrichshafen 22.12.

  • German Cup Quarter-finals:

    Lüneburg vs. Mitteldeutschland 3:1 (26:28, 25:11, 25:21, 25:18 ) stats
    United Volleys vs. Friedrichshafen 3:1 (25:23, 25:22, 19.25, 25:22) stats
    Bühl vs. Rottenburg 3:0 (25:21, 25:15, 25:19) stats
    Berlin
    vs. Herrsching 3:0 (25:9, 25:19, 25:16) stats

Maybe not a sensation but still a surprise. Friedrichshafen is losing a quarterfinal, and not against Berlin 8o

    Semi-final:
    Berlin vs. United Volleys
    Bühl vs. Lüneburg

...United Volleys came to Herrsching as the leder in ranking

With you bavarians it is always about the leder(hosen), isn't it 8)

    18.30 Netzhoppers vs. Mitteldeutschland
    19.30 United Volleys vs. Düren
    19.30 Friedrichshafen vs. Lüneburg

    Sunday 29th November:

    17.00 Coburg vs. Herrsching

Some interesting matches this weekend. Loosing to the United Volleys surely was a big blow for Friedrichshafen and there might be increased tensions if they don't win against Lüneburg. Lüneburg hardly played two good matches in row this season but now it would be a good time to do so.
United Volleys vs. Düren and Coburg vs. Herrsching should be open matches too.

    Standing:
    1. Berlin 5 15
    2. United Volleys 6 13
    3. Düren 6 12
    4. Friedrichshafen 5 11

  • Herrshing sold match, nice league for cheating

    They messed up your bet?
Any evidence or just because they still managed to lose from leading 2:0? Happens almost on daily basis in volleyball......

Surprisingly clear victory for United Volleys vs. Düren, while Lüneburg only managed to play two good sets in Friedrichshafen. With their rather "simple" game syle they miss a dominant opposite like Steinke who is injured at the moment.

Remember: Herrsching had hard weeks with many away matches.
And I saw the match live: Steuerwald was treated by the physiotherapist in every match break. Didn't look very healthy to me, seemed to be his back. This started in the middle of set 3. So ...

    Today. 17 CET
    Rottenburg vs. United Volleys

I said it from the beginning, this is going to be a difficult season for Friedrichshafen. While their level dropped, other teams improved and consequently there will be more losses in regular season than in the years before. Especially on OH, the team has problems. The new brazialian player, Venceslau, still looks very nervous and shaky and Baptiste Geiler has never been and will never be a player who can carry a team in attack. Young romanian Adrian Aciobanitei shows talent but still can't fill the gap as well. Björn Andrae might help, when he rturns but he surely won't solve all the problems.

Today, it would be a good time for Rottenburg for a big win. They are probably the most underperforming team so far. But they were quite unlucky as in most of the games either one their potential OH starters, Karlitzek/Strohbach, has been injured and there were a lot of tight matches as well. They will have to put their hope on the second part of the season.

  • Where did you look? VBL website has them: http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2015-16/Men/&1047.pdf

    ?(
I am quite sure, it wasn't there when i looked last time. But anyway, thanks......

Just judging from numbers, bringing Kocian on court in fifth set didn't really pay out for VfB. But the level of reception dropped as well, so.....

  • Rottenburg vs. United Volleys 2:3 (25:21,25:16,19:25,19:25,13:15)
Again, a bitter loss for Rottenburg.......

    Ranking

German cup, semi finals, live on http://www.vbl.tv :

    Wednesday, 9th December:
    20.00 Bühl vs. Lüneburg

    Thursday, 10th December:
19.30 Berlin vs. United Volleys RheinMain

After playing in Halle for ten years, this year the federation moved the final to a bigger hall in Mannheim (15.000 seats). It is a very prestigious event with a lot of media attention. There is surely a big motivation for all teams to be part of this event.
Bühl vs. Lüneburg looks like a very open match. Bühl will be pumped up after their victory against Friedrichshafen and Lüneburg will have to play very well to reach their second final in row.
Berlin hasn't shown much weakness in the league so far, so they are the clear favourite in this match. But their matches in CL has shown that they are not invulnerable. But still, the United Volleys need an almost perfect day to stand a chance.

  • 15:11 for Berlin, so the final will be Bühl vs. Berlin.

  • Berlin vs. United Volleys 3:2 (25:20, 19:25, 25:23, 22:25, 15:11)
    http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2015-16/Men/&7113.pdf

Very entertaining match with a lot of great rallies :drink:

Robert Kromm had a real bad day in attack but thats only one reason, why it was so difficult for them today. Latest when jan Zimmermann had to leave the court due an injury, United Volleys played very predictable with almost no middle attacks so you would have expected a bit more solid blocking and defense by Berlin. At the very end of the match they finally figured out how to defend Dünnes but that was almost too late. If they want to reach the next round in CL, they have to improve seriously.
United Volley played some great defence, especially the libero, Florian Ringseis, had a great performance. Moritz Reichert did quite well too.
