(not very accurate though: Belgian Setter Depestele supposedly had 11 attempts in attack? Hard to believe)

Apparently Van Walle's first appearance in starting line-up, replacing Hoho at opposite position, scoring a very solid 12 points on 22 attacks.

  • Thanks for the upload Richard!

I saw Van Walle play last year with the-21 selection on the EC and he might become very good. He will be playing for Maaseik next year!

Unfortunately another 3-0 defeat for Belgium.
In the end of a very close first set, Claes, one of the Belgian strongholders in this campaign, lands on Trommel's foot and sprained his ancle quite severly.
The replay shows clearly Trommel sets his foot on the Belgian site of the net. In a football match, something like dad would be definitely penalized with a red card. Claes is probably out for the remaining maches of this European League. I hope Trommel had the decency to apologize.

Belgium lost its first match on saturday by 0-3.
In the 3th set, Hoho moved from opposite to wing-reception and Van Walle entered the line-up to fill in the opposite position.

Coach Gewehr decided to start the match on sunday with this line-up and this definitely paid off.
Van Walle scored an excellent 67% in attack (39 attempts).
Still only 19 years old, he is already a huge gain for the Belgian team.

Belgium lost 2-3 in a tight game (Spanish matchpoint was out by half a meter, unfortunately de marksman judged otherwise).

  • Is anybody willing to record this game? (friday 19h - Eurosport 1 live)
I don't have Eurosport on cable.

I don't think we had some luck this time Richard (no Eurosport in Brussels neither) :cry2:

It's about time that I buy myself one of those telenet-decoders (99EUR).
Are you upc-customer? They were acquired by telenet, recently. So Eurosport should come within your reach (at least if you're a UPC-customer).

Seems that Gottlib did record the first set. I begged him to upload that one (see other thread Poland - Srb), hope he comes to it some time.

  • Actually it would be great if I had the opportunity to just have Eurosport and Eurosport2 and maybe a few other channels. The stupid 'Coditel' monopoly in Brussels doesn't give us a choice like that. Telenet isn't even available in Brussels.

So let's hope Gottlib is in a good mood :D

I think The game on friday was one of their best games with Van Walle again on opposite. Anyway we should try to get all games from the EC in september. As it is in Russia, Gottlib will again be a very important uploader, I think.

Actually, since we are in a poule together with Russia and Poland (and Turkey), interests on this forum will initially be very similar.
I hope Belgium will succeed in what our junior team did on the recent European Championships: beat Poland as well as Russia (but I wouldn't put any money on that).
