Italian NT 2016

  • - we don't have a great MB (except Guiggi) since Arrighetti is half injured and Gioli is not in the NT anymore;

Well, Chirichella is definitely decent enough to me, even if she does a lot of serve errors and isn't that skilled in attack ^^

I also like Danesi, even if she obviously still need to grow up and at the moment isn't probably better than Folie.

  • Chirichella has been surprisingly well through the whole season this year and I think she's a far better blocker than Guiggi.

  • final roster with following players looks possible:

    S: Lo Bianco, Orro
    OP: Centoni, Diouf
OH: Egonu, Ortolani, Sylla, Del Core
    MB: Guiggi, Chirichella, Danesi
    L: De Gennaro

    but IMHO:
    - I'd take either Gennari or Sirressi instead of Diouf - they have many attacking options (we have 4 players who can be OP, even without Diouf there are 3), BUT almost noone with decent passing... but Gennari seems to be injured, so she can be out of the picture; Diouf looks useless, so maybe it's better to have Egonu/Ortolani as an option if necessary and Gennari/Sirressi if backrow fouls up, I hope that Ortolani won't be out eventually
    - Lo Bianco is probably back, what means for Malinov bye bye because Orro is recovering and she's just better as playmaker :D
    - Bonitta resigned from Folie (I wonder why, conflict between her and coach ?( ), so MBs choice is clear unless any injury appears
    - De Gennaro is first L and I don't think it'll change at all, Sirressi has only chance to be in Rio as defensive specialist, something like Paola Croce's case in Beijing ^^
    - Anastasia Guerra is already out, while another player like Valentina Tirozzi (who maybe help) won't be called  that's why don't even mentioned any other player

we'll see what happens, the only change which can be done here is to replace one of Egonu/Ortolani/Diouf with OH/defensive specialist

  • The best MB right now in Italy for me is Chirichella. She has been playing in high level since the qualification tournaments.

  • (my opinion) it would be better:

    S: Leo, Orro
OH: Del Core, Sylla, L.Bosetti, Tirozzi
    OPP: Egonu, Ortolani
    MB: Chirichella, Guiggi, Danesi
    L: Moki, Siressi

OH: Del Core, Sylla, L.Bosetti, Tirozzi
    OPP: Egonu, Ortolani
    MB: Chirichella, Guiggi, Danesi
    L: Moki, Siressi

it's impossible - You may have only 12 players :!:

  • Gennari had a knee surgery and will be out for 20-30 days, so It's gonna be really hard to see her in Rio, and that's a real pity, for her and for the team, that sometimes really need such an equilibrate player ;(

Please, God of Knees, let our OH alone, both male and female :white:

Ortolani and especially Egonu won't be cut, imho.

Centoni and Diouf are the two at risk in case of a defensive specialist (I think Sirressi, but also Spirito has some chances, since she also serve... And Bonitta always surprise us: this would be an interesting plot twist xD)

it seems that Anastasia is probably the first one considered to take Gennari spot [source: dal15al25].
What do you mean when you said she is already out? ?(

On Tirozzi (or others like Cate Bosetti) I agree, it's improbable that she will be called back after not considering her for almost a year... But again, Piccinini and Lucia Bosetti are not an options and Bonitta loves surprises xD

    I agree ;)

(my opinion) it would be better:

    S: Leo, Orro
OH: Del Core, Sylla, L.Bosetti, Tirozzi
    OPP: Egonu, Ortolani
    MB: Chirichella, Guiggi, Danesi
    L: Moki, Siressi

And again, you are writing (I suppose) you're ideal list, not a possible-to-be Bonitta's list...

    1) Tirozzi was called the last time for the ECH, and since then we did other 3 tournaments: it's unlike she will be called (but with the injury of Gennari not absolutely impossible)

    2) Lucia Bosetti played an awful tournament in Ankara and then said she was glad not to be called by Bonitta for Tokyo, so I guess we can say her goodbye at least until Rio (Bonitta last competition with the NT)

    3) The list for Rio, as I and others had already wrote, is of 12 players, not 14

Obviously you can write wathever you please ^^, but it's not that useful to discuss about the 'if': you're not adding much to the conversation ;)
I mean, think about all the people that always were like 'if we only had Leo back...' :rolll: [I said that over and over, for the record xD]

  • Kk15, I just think that Guerra has little chances, that's why IMHO she's out and players like Diouf, Centoni, Sirressi or Spirito have bigger chances than her, though maybe I'm wrong ^^ then, she's also contender to take spot from one of OPs :wavy:

Then I agree with you, or better, I agreed before reading on Pasini's blog dal15al25 that she has a big chance to be chosen...

BTW, I bet she will stay with the other girls to train in Trentino, and I guess also Spirito. Probably Guerra would have trained with them in any case...

  • if Bonitta brings Egonu, Diouf, Centoni, Ortolani together to Rio,i think his head was kicked by many wild buffalos.

in fact, whether in 2 or 4 position, these 4 girls are opps(ortolani could receive, but not in a good level).who will brings 4 opps in olympics?

in these 4 girls, Egonu has seized a position.Ortolani just switched to OH because Gennari's surgery, what a pity, not a same level.

Diouf made too many unexpected errors, and Centoni could not score for a long while, both are not a high quality opp.

i prefer bonitta brings one more backup libero or OH has good receiving and defencing skills.thus they maybe reach into quarterfinal.

  • my best 12 player in rio

    oh : Del core / Tirozzi / Sylla / Gennari or L.Bosetti
    op : Egonu / Diuof
    mb : Guiggi / Danesi / Chirichella
    s : Leo / Orro
    l : De gennaro ( i like Cardullo )

  • I'm really happy Lo Bianco decided to come back! I think we still need her experience and her class, she's still one of the best! I was always hoping for her to come back but as the time went by, my hope slowly disappeared :gone: There's enough time for her to get back into shape, I'm sorry for the one who will be cut (to me it should be Malinov, Orro is much better).
I'm curious to know what (or who) is behind this decision

  • Cambi and Sirressi out for the next training phase (until July 13th); Gennari (from the 8th) and Spirito in.
Centoni and Diouf in the list as Opp, Egonu and Ortolani as OH (but that doesn't actually mean something).
The rest is all the same, obviously with both Leo and Orro (and Malinov).

  • I'm very excited to watch this team at the Olympics! They're young and unpredictable, but extremely talented. Chirichella has developed well beyond my expectations. You can tell she's been watching players like Carvajal, Zoila Barros, and Thaisa-- she's adopted such an intimidating disposition at the net! :D

Orro should be the main setter, and if Leo can develop a rapport with the new hitters then she should replace Malinov. Malinov is great for her age, but isn't reliable enough yet, particularly in pressure situations. (I think she could be fabulous in Tokyo.)

Also, RE: Diouf... I actually really like her. No, she's not the best player ever, but she does get the ball down in important moments, and she's a good blocker. My MAIN issue is with the way Malinov and Orro set her: it looks way too low. I know Diouf isn't a huge jumper, but oftentimes when she hits it looks like she hardly has her arm straightened because the ball is so low, and that's when opponents can block her.
