Serbian NT 2016

  • The team has gathered and preparations start today. First they'll do all the usual medical check-ups and then they'll spend two weeks training in Montenegro. As you can see, everyone is there except for Suzana Ćebić who will be joining the team later during the day.

Jovana Brakočević: I was back on court a month and a half after giving birth, so I've been practising for a while now and I'm more than satisfied with how it's going. I missed volleyball a lot and I can't wait to start playing on NT again.

  • It seems like Djerisilo always comes back to NT when Olympic games are approaching

  • I'm very interested about Ana Bjelica. Who will signed her after that bad season in Turkey, She didn't show anything special in Poland too.

  • I don t think she had a bad season, mostly of the time she was Salihli`s best score. in some games she scored 20+.

Remember she joined the team after the season began, only played 88 sets.

She finshed the season as >>>

    15th Best Score
    18th Best Spiker
    12th Best Server

what is terzic say at the video??

  • He says that first they'll have to do some medical check ups to see the shape the girls are in, then they'll choose a team to go for preparations in Bari, they leave on the 12th of May, and he'll probably take around 18 girls. They'll play in Montreu and the WGP and they'll decide later which girls will play which tournament. Thank something about the expectations for them in the Olympics

  • Not playing in Montreux is fine, I was even expecting Serbia to play with a B team.

But Maja should not skip the first week of the Grand Prix when they play in Brazil, that will be such a important match for Serbia, it will really tell if Serbia can really go for Gold in Rio... oh well....

Maja Ognjenović won't play in Montreux and will probably also skip the first weekend of Grand Prix. She hasn't started training with the rest of NT yet.
Everything's OK with her, she just needed a break.

  • I personally think Jole Stevanovic is one of the most photogenic players on the globe :D Great to see Brakocevic back as well.

  • Serbian squad for the first Grand Prix tournament in Brazil:

    S: Živković, Radenković
    OPP: Brakočević, Malagurski
    MB: Stevanović, Popović, Kocić
    L: Ćebić, Popović
    OH: Malešević, Buša, Đerisilo

Terzić is not going to be there, the team will be coached by his assistant Aleksandar Vladisavljev.
This may mean that Molnar is out of contention already as Terzić said some players will be cut off after Montreux.

  • What??????????????????? Im totaly shocked.

Playing with Brazil/Italy/Japan in RIo was the best test Serbia could have asked for. If they could them beat Brazil that would make clear that Serbia would be going for Gold in Rio.

But now he wont send the main players? Well, of course he knows who the starters will be in Rio and he is trying to figure out who the bench will be???

Clearly just like last year I don't think he wants Serbia playing in the final round. :white:

And Tijana Boskovic is still so so young that she should just be playing as much as she can.

But I can`t wait to see how Brakocevic and Malarguski will do... :box:

  • I'm sure Ognjenović, Bošković, Rašić, Stevanović, Veljković, Mihajlović, Nikolić and Malešević are safe. That leaves the back-up setter, the back-up OPP, the libero and the fourth OH and I guess their performances over the next weekend will be a factor in his decision.

I wish he'd take Bošković and Brakočević as OPPs and Malagurski as the 4th OH. Her reception is not much worse than Đerisilo's and she's a much more reliable scorer. Buša is useless and should be out of contention already.

I think Zivkovic as second setter is also already decided. I agree on Malagurski as 4th OH.. although Terzic can take Malagurski as second OPP/4th OH and take second libero as receiving specialist.

  • Yeah, I agree, Živković is probably a lock too.

According to Terzić, everything is going fine and everyone is healthy. *knocks on wood*
Serbia will play the 2nd and 3rd GP tournament with the A team. The results are not that important as long as we're not relegated to II division. :whistling:

The team will be heading to Rio on July 26th and will practise with the Brazilian team until the start of the Olympics.

  • If Serbia really wants to go to the final week, they can do it with ease for the second and third week.
I think they might even win WGP 2016 only if they send the strongest squad there, it all depends on the head coach now.
if A team go to second and third week, I guess WGP finals 2016 will have:
SRB, THA, USA, BRA, CHN and NED.

  • Squad for Macau:

    S: Ognjenović, Živković
    OPP: Bošković, Brakočević
    MB: Rašić, Stevanović, Veljković, Popović
    L: Ćebić, Popović
    OH: Mihajlović, Malešević, Nikolić, Buša

I sincerely hope this does not mean Malagurski is out already, but I guess this will more or less be the team for Rio, minus Mina Popović and one of the liberos. :S
It looks like Terzić really wants to make Brakočević happen. Anyway, it's time to get serious now.

  • Too bad for Malagurski...But I think Brakocevic can actually make a change when she comes in, replacing Boskovic and her serves are showing that she is in good shape. I'm curious how she will play when Ognjenovic is setting.

  • brakocevic and busa over Sanja? I hope not.

  • The only question with Brakocevic is, is she OK being on the bench? or is she thinking she will the starter again and then do the same thing she did back in 2014?

I really like Busa, and I think she has potential, but after this week I think even Dejserilo would be better because at least she brings experience. But it should be Malargurski as OH...but I know that wont happen.

For libero it gotta be Popovic, she is playing much much better than Cebic, and they dont need to take 2 liberos...better a extra MB or OH.

Can`t wait to watch Brazil/Serbia/China next week.
