I'm still kinda upset about Skra's loss yesterday. Apparently the good passing from the match against ZAKSA didn't carry on and the middles didn't work well. Lemanski is definitely evolving - he was a monster at blocking yesterday which caused the biggest trouble for Skra. Before the match I predicted that Penchev whould have been whom all Resovia's services went to... well it happened and Penchev didn't survive.

Anyways, looking forward to the second meeting on 1/27!

  • I watched highlights of Espadon Szczecin's last three games. I am very sorry to say that there are obvious reasons why they still haven't won a set. Also, from a technical point of view, this is one of the most "wooden" teams I have seen. That is most of all valid for their opposite Bartlomiej Kluth. They might have problems with the selection, the team preparation, the team chemistry, or the head coach, you name it, but I simply cannot agree that a disciplinary solution of releasing one single player, and now relying on the limited Slovakian setter Sladecek, is going to fix their problems. I don't think that even Danail Milushev in his best years would've made any difference there.

  • I changed bold for MBs from 4 pts/set to 3,5 because it's harder to achieve many points as MB :wavy:

Well, Skra is endangered to get a walk over 0-3 in favor of Espadon because of 6 foreigners on court  I don't know how Gładyr should be counted in league because as far as I know he got Polish citizenship like Tichacek...

  • meanwhile Espadon signed contract with Serbian S, 39-year-old Veljko Petkovic :wavy:

... who hasn't played volleyball for some time. About 2 years, if I am not mistaken. I find it really hard to explain the reasoning of Szczecin's management.

  • I watched first Szczecin's match and my first idea about Bratoev's sets was- He should be fired.

I never saw such bad sets in PlusLiga.

He as Setter had to be in almost perfect form.

He as Setter had to be in almost perfect form.

First, don't let me dig and find you far worse setters than Bratoev in your PlusLiga. Second, how has Szczecin's game improved since Bratoev left? It is a rhetorical question, no need to answer it. Third, Sladecek has never been a serious option in his career and is a level below Bratoev even if the latter has spent the summer eating tacos. Petkovic has been out for some years and it only shows the club's dubious policy. Fourth, in the worst case you punish a disappointing, in their eyes, player by putting him on the bench. NO ONE releases players after a game, let alone when that game was against the reigning champion.

I can go on further but what would be the point? The only thing I cannot write about is what physical condition Bratoev presented but even then you could easily apply argument number 4. Bratoev may not be the world's best or in-form setter but the club's attitude is everything else but acceptable (unless there are unstated reasons).
