Turkish League 2016/2017

  • Hi, nice to meet you all.
First of all congrats to Gala for getting into the finals
The bronze medal match between Vakif and Ecz is going to be epic. Tbh these two teams definitely deserve to be in CL next year since these two are the richest clubs in Europe. Moreover, i dont think Gala will do well in CL next year. The only reason they beat Vakif is Vakif defence was a disaster. Imo Im 99% sure that Fener will win vvsl this year

  • hi guys!
    Congrats to the winner teams
    congrats to Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe!

Second Matches of the Semifinals :

    Vakıfbank - Galatasaray : 3-2 http://tvf-web.dataproject.com…ID=61&PID=49&type=LegList

i was late in watching first two sets.Congrats to Galatasaray great job :obey:
this team is good but for CL playoffs they should invest some more
Gamze's game was important in winning the games.i will talk later after watching first two sets

    Fenerbahçe - Eczacıbaşı Vitra : 3-1 stats
it was a great match indeed. very exciting! :super: :obey:
Eda Erdem Dündar was my MVP :obey:
i liked Neslihan's game too.she was very willing to win this matcg but it didnt happen.KYK was smply bad but she got the most impornats points in tie break and.that counst most.Tomkom also showed her quaity with this match
i still cant believe how they lost from 13-7 and 14-10..Fener made the miracle!! :white:
Maja's red card was turning point..if she wasnt shown red card maybe they could have took that set and made to the final!!Boşkoviç is a very great attacket but she will learn by these tough matches a lot

im neither a fan of Fener nor Gala but id like Gala to win the finals

normally it was best of 2 and best of 3 but due to the intense match schedule TVF changed the status for this year..

  • This may be a stupid question but is there any chance that not competing in the CL next year could weaken Vakif or Vitra from a sponsors/money point of view? I'd guess those teams have stable sponsorship deals, but could this make a difference? Also they will become less attractive to foreign star players, but if they still have massive budgets then I'm sure they could still tempt some of the world's best

I don't think there will be any cut in their budget. Indeed it could be the case with FB and GS since they have many other sports they are competing whereas Vakıfbank and Eczacıbaşı are pure volleyball clubs. Vakıfbank also recently made a big gym. Also I don't think it will be hard to sign with stars although one of them won't play in CL. Playing for these two teams is a dream of many players and playing in Turkish league itself is already a big prestigious anyway. If I remember right, Thaisa and Ognjenoviç has contract for next year too. What about other foreigners in eczacıbaşı? They should really consider signing only 4 foreigners next year.

I hope one of Vakıfbank and Eczacıbaşı will win CL and WCCh so that everybody will have at least one reputable cup

  • It is quite unfair to read that people think GS won this only because Vakifbank was bad etc. It's quite disrespectful to the efforts of these players, plus trainers of GS who managed to create such a competitive and ambitious team. Besides, winning against Vakifbank is not a surprise for GS. 2-3 years ago, GS was eliminating Vakifbank again from the finals, where they lost the first match with Lo Bianco as setter, won the second match 3-0 with Gamze as setter, was leading 2-0 in the 3rd match until Gamze got injured. Then Vakif reversed and won it 2-3 and won the serie with 2-1. Last year, GS was the only team who has beaten Vakifbank in the finals again.

I was surprised, because this year the team looked much better but was underperforming until now. With Bursa BB matches, they got such an upwards performance and I would say, they won both matches 3-0 against Vakifbank (the last match was 2-0 and GS could win easily the third one if they kept the same players).

Against Fenerbahce, there is a huge difference between Eczacibasi and GS. Eczacibasi is full of offensive OHs, has bad receiving, worse defense, but better attacking. On the other side, GS plays with 2 defensive OHs, 2 great MBs who are also good attackers, good receiving, serving and defense. The problem with Fenerbahce is, even if they receive bad, both KYK and Natalia can kill high balls. If GS manage to stop them and serve well, then they will have a chance against FB for sure. It's again all about serve-receive performance of teams.

For the next season in CL, they already mentioned several times that they are looking for better sponsors and now with CL, they have a better reason to find a good sponsor. However I can't see the reason why they would need many transfers as you guys are talking?? This team eliminated the potential winner of CL with 3-0 scores in two matches! That means they are already in a good level and have a proper team for CL.

The only transfers I can think of are: Although I love her so much, her skills and personality, Leys can be replaced with someone like Hill, Robinson etc. and they can find a better MB than Ruseva like Belien, Dixon etc. If Nadia thinks she can only afford to play half of the season due to her age, they can transfer a good opposite and keep Nadia, hopefully as also coaching staff. For the rest of the positions, they only need good back-up players, a good back-up libero for example. That's all. 2, max 3 transfers will be more than enough!

  • I am wondering why Kosheleva didn't play? It is an important match. The result might come out different if she was on court because she can kill high balls. But I am not going to take away anything from Galatasaray. They played an amazing match, played better than Vakifbank hence they are going to the final. Y;'all can give excuse like Vakifbank was playing bad etc but that's just show Vakifbank weakness -- that they are unable to perform up to the par when it is needed the most. I am expecting a great match during the finale between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. These 2 clubs need this trophy so much.

It was a bad but forced decision by Barbolini. He can't give up from Larson who is the only receiving OH, Maja who is the only decent setter, Boskovic who can make wonders and Adams who is the only MB in that team. So there was no space at all. Actually considering Neslihan's current shape, I would rather leave Boskovic out and play with Kosheleva-Larson duo instead, since Hande can also replace Neslihan as opposite if needed. It is too late now

Did Barbolini sub Boskovic in back row with Simge and one of the front row centers with Adams during the 4-5th sets? I guess he didnt because he is such an incapable guy with no creativity at all. He only makes good plans and sticks to them  (Now when I checked the 5th set, I noticed he did, in the very last point at 15-14 :) )

  • I just watched the scene where Maja got the red card. Did she get a yellow card earlier in the match? Because if not, I find a red for this situation way too hard  It wasn't exactly the golden hour of fairness, but then it was also nothing that bad to deserve red right away unless she screamed something dirty that I didn't understand.

Yes She did screamed some ugly swear but I don't believe it that He understand them ?(
But again Fener players were again very annoying with their screaming

  • Boskovic got a yellow card also. She was shocked when it happened.

Meatballs - Playing without Boskovic? NO WAY, either u like her or not, she is their best player and among with Zhu and Egonu, they are the best attackers in the world. I think she started only what the 4th, and Golden Set, and she still scored 16 points, while Darnell played the whole time and scored 22. No one can do what Boskovic does. Let`s say she had started she would have scored 30+. I`m sure Vakifibank would love if Boskovic does not play.
And the reason Maja set to Boskovic a few times in the end, is because there were no one else she could set, in the end she set the ball 3 times for Larson but she failed to kill the ball 3 times, She did not trust Darnel enough to hit from the back row and neither Bursa, so there were only Boskovic...and then she set the ball for Larson again and she got blocked. If Kosheleva was there she could have set to her.

Canter - Well, starting with Boskovic and Darnel can be a option. But I don`t know, when you have Kosheleva, is hard to leave her out, but I think what Barbolini will do is, if Kosheleva is not playing well he might replace her with Darnel and not Hande.

Was nice to see Thaisa in the arena with her BFF Kosheleva.

Will they play for Bronze Medal?? Oh noooo...I don`t think is necessary for teams to play for Bronze Medal is Club Leagues...

  • Will they play for Bronze Medal?? Oh noooo...I don`t think is necessary for teams to play for Bronze Medal is Club Leagues...

It is necessary to decide which team will take the last spot for next CL.
It would be very unfair if Vakifbank got the spot because they were #1 in the classification round. They played awful in the semifinals and Eczasibasi made it to the golden set, at least.

  • Vitra's reception was bad as it is.

Kosheleva would probably have done nothing worse than Neslihan on reception.

So honestly, Kosheleva should've been on the floor instead of Boskovic.

There were many times I'm not sure who's who anymore. The coach put Neslihan and Tijano on an unfamiliar condition such as playing OH1 or maybe Opp. i can't really tell who was receiving or who's exclusively on attack. That was such bad adjustments that could've been remedied if the coach thought of his lineup carefully.

Favorite players: M: Maxim Mikhaylov, Murilo, Serginho, Aaron Russell, Otavio, Simone Giannelli, Ivan Zaytsev, Tsvetan Sokolov, Michał Kubiak, Mariusz Wlazly, Pawel Zagummy W: Sheilla, Zhu Ting, Natalia, Fe Garay, Fofao, Gabi, Thaisa, Foluke Akinradewo, Wei Qiuyue, Ding Xia, Carli Lloyd, Fabi, Natalia Goncharova, Yuko Sano, Saoris Kimura and Sakoda

    #FreeBritney

  • Will they play for Bronze Medal?? Oh noooo...I don`t think is necessary for teams to play for Bronze Medal is Club Leagues...

Normally I'd agree, but this is to see who makes it to the CL next year, so it's very important. I guess the 3rd place match takes place after the CL F4? If one of these teams wins the CL they would have a big mental advantage for the 3rd place match.

I thought Maja's red card was nonsense, what she did was not much worse than what all the other players were doing.

Barbolini should probably start with Neslihan instead of Hande. Boskovic is too good to be left out IMO, but Ceylan is useless so it is a hard choice.

  • Ohhh nooo.... I had no idea the 3rd place gets the spot in the CL. Because I heard in Italy the 1 place in the Regular Season get the CL ticket ( like Conegliano) so I just assumed it was the same thing in Turkey.

As it was said Maja has 1 more year with Vitra and Boskovic resigned with them. So i would not mind if Vitra does not play CL next season. It will be the season before he World Championship. And we are not sure where Thaisa will be ready to play again.
If Maja can get a "rest" for not playing CL this could help in her wanting to play the WCH once she is more rested. Same goes for Boskovic, she has been playing at the high level no-stop, by the time she turns 30 or even before that, she will be totally worn out.

(Playing CEV CUP or Challenge Cup is not so demanding as CL).

  • Unfortunately you can't have all the foreigners in the squad due to foreigner limit guys! So either Kosheleva, Boskovic or Adams has to stay out. I prefer Adams and Kosheleva to play since noone was efficient from zone 4 in Eczacibasi and their middles are horrible.

rbdfabio, Neslihan was their best attacker in that match with 44% in attacking while Boskovic had %32. Boskovic made 6 errors, plus 3 times blocked while Neslihan had 2 errors and got blocked 3 times. Win lose ratio of Boskovic is only 4 while Neslihan's is 13. So producing 17 points in 3 sets mean NOTHING, seriously NOTHING!

  • It would be very unfair if Vakifbank got the spot because they were #1 in the classification round.

Well, that depend on the prospective: in Italy the first of the RS takes one spot for the CL, so It doesn't see absolutely unfair to me.
In case, I feel unfair that they even need to do a 3rd-4th place match (otherwise meaningless) when Vaki has already won the RS.

The RS should count somenthing more than playing at home the decisive matches, especially in Turkey were for the 3 top teams 'playing at home' means 'playing in Istanbul'...

About the idea of 'giving a wild card' to the CL winner for the next year, I overall agree, but I think that this spot should still count as 'country spot'.
For example, if Kazan last year would have received a WC, then only 2 other Russian teams should have joined the CL, not 3 others (so, no 4 in total).
I didn't do the example with Pomì because it has less impact since Italy has only 2 spots for female teams.

  • I know I asked this last year but I don't remember the answer. Why do,the play the Golden set? When a team is winning 3-1. The should win the match not lose it because they lost the Golden set.

Well they lost the first match 3-0. Overall this rule helped Fenerbahce because they would have lost 3-4 if we just counted the sets

  • I'm 100% sure that Pomi got Wild Card for CL but they refused it because they played WCCH, they are not rich club to afford it to play CL and WCCH.

I think it is super stupied to first call Modena and not last year winner.

Boskovic just did not had a good night, and just based on a game u should just toss her?? Of course not. And Neslihan had some really really bad games this season also. I don`t remember which game was but she started and she got a bunch of balls but she score 0. And that is the reason Boskovic played a lot more in the Turkish season is because Neslihan was not playing well very often.

And consider this, Fenerbache was not ready for Neslihan, they were ready for Boskovic. So when Neslihan started they did not know much what to do. And Adams was very weak also with only had 31% in attack.

17 points in 3 sets means nothing??? :cheesy: :obey: U need points to win the game ..it does matter how u score or what your % or ratio is....the only thing that counts r the points u get.

Just like when u said not too long ago Fenerbache should get ride of Natalia and Galatasary should get ride of Centoni...... :teach:.

But I do respect your opinion, I just don`t think it makes any sense to leave Boskovic on the bench.
