Turkish League 2016/2017

  • Not offended at all. I like Kim very much and I'm not actually saying Zhu or Boskovic are better, though I think they are both better attackers currently. But I don't think it's right to say "KYK is better than those players because she gets it done in the biggest moments" when both of those girls have come up good for their teams in important moments in the past

Fair enough, tho I still think it´s wasn´t unfair but I agree that they´re better attackers and yes there were obviously also a lot of times that Zhu and Boskovic shined.

Just to make it clear I LOVE Boskovic and I also like Zhu Ting a lot. I don´t hate them at all. It´s just my opinion about KYK.

  • It´s my opinion that KYK is better you guys can´t change that sorry. Fener also won the first match against Ecz in CL. In the second they were 2-1 behind and came back to 25-25 I think after they were 12-18 down but still lost the set which was a big mental advantage for Vitra also they wanted it really bad for Thaisa while Fener was still in shock. I´m saying they´re the best and proved that in the golden set for me. Also as you guys said all they did was complaining and they didn´t focus and the match as much as they did yesterday. I didn´t say KYK and Eda are robots and can never have a bad day and I didn´t say Boskovic and Zhu are far behind them and can never be as good. Boskovic is still the best attacker in the world for me, however she can´t kill a single ball after a 14/10 lead yesterday which was really bad. But it can happen, she´s only 20. While Kim used both chances she had without a single mistake to get match point and then to use that match point at 14/14 to 16/14. I dare you guys to rewatch that golden set at 13-7 and see what carrying a team means (Eda :obey: ). I have almost never seen a single player carry a player like that also in such a moment. Also I didn´t say Zhu Ting can´t carry her team, however this is not Olympics and so far (in the F4 of TL and CL F6) She simply was not amazing. I don´t get why some people get so offended when I say KYK is better then Zhu and Boskovic, it´s my opinion and a lot of people agree with me so get over it... :wavy:

When you say KYK is the best, I totally agree with you. But, for me, it seems like you are judging her, Zhu Ting and Boskovic for only a single match. Kim was great when the team needed her, and Boskovic couldn't do too much, but it's not always like that. In the CL match, for example, Kim couldn't do too much, while Boskovic put down almost ALL the balls she received after the 20th point, including the one that closed the match and eliminated Fenerbahce. The same goes for Zhu Ting, she has not done anything great yet, but this doesn't mean she isn't great or that she isn't there for the team right when they need her, you just have to watch the OG to conclude that. In my opinion, KYK is the best player in the world, but not because of the reasons you mentioned. Carrying the team is a really great quality and has to be a leader to do it, but if was the only thing used to see which player is the best, Sheilla Castro would have been the MVP from London after what she did against Russia. She was just outstanding back there, and I don't think that in the next few years any player will be able to do what she did, but did this make her the best player in the world? Well, at least not for me.

  • Boskovic actually reminds me of a young Kosheleva. Very good attacking, definitely one of the very best in their generations. Both came up amazing in their respective debut at WCH ('10 & '14), but Kosheleva was sidelined a bit due to injury after. but was able to come back strong. I'm saying, it will take several years to see if Boskovic will still be able to play the same level.. But she is the best OPP in the world currently, together with Sloetjes and Goncha. As a side note, was there ever a player who peaked too early in her career, but is not playing on the same level currently (barring injuries)? Mari of Brazil comes to mind. Who can forget her 2008 OG performance? Her name was written all over it, sorry if I'm being off topic.

  • Why are we comparing Boskovic to Kosheleva? One is supposed to receive but can't really and the other is an attacking beast with the materials to become the best opposite hitter of all time?

And why are we talking gloom about Boskovic's future just because she had a bad match?

Another Brazilian player: Érika. She was amazing when she was 17 (1997), and did great during the 2000 and 2004 OGs. But after that, her level dropped a lot. She was still around 25 years old.

I mean no offense but wasn't she the hermaphrodite? I know she became a woman completely but maybe there were some kind of effects because of that. Probably hit her while she was growing as an adult. Ofcourse I am not an expert on this so I can't really tell.

  • I think the problem with 17-18 year olds peaking in their carreer at this age is probably that they kind of lose their ambition or they simply don't know how to get even better. This actually happens a lot and is nothing new. That's why I'm really curious to see what will happen to Boskovic and really happy that she didn't win OG after all (even though I was rooting for Serbia). What most people think wrong is thinking 30 year old players slow down a lot physically (just look at some 30+ players), its rather mentally. They peaked in their carreer and have achieved most things they had in mind. TThey are most of the times done mentally rather then physically while young, fresh players still have a lot of things they want to accomplish. This is why I'm a little affraid of Boskovic's case as she also has accomplished so much while she's still so young. Most 18 year old talents actually kind of vanish and the 18 year olds who had a slower start sometimes achieve even more later on in their carreer.

Also an example is Kubra Akman, she played so many NT matches and won a lot of titles already and she was even starter in all of this. I recently watched a game of her a few years ago and she was so good and like a wall. Probably better then Eda, but now she's so inconsistent and unreliable while for example Beyza Arici from the same generation has improved so much and is literally hungry to play volleybal and achieve more with club and NT. I can see her improve even more next year and in the summer with NT and bypass Kubra as MB and I can see a lot of MBs do this. Though Kubra didnt vanish of course but this was just a less extreme example to show my point.

I do want to add that I still hope and think this won't happen with Boskovic and she really is an exceptional talent. I believe in her going forward and maybe she can get that OG gold in 2020 :win: :box:

(Btw I wrote so much here today xD)

Well to be fair, Kosheleva has also played OPP position in the past, and of course everyone knows she is non-receiving OH lol I am merely comparing the two in terms of their attacking skills, their similarities end there.

  • Ecz Cl is an exceptional match. FB last five year beat to Ecz everytime
Every final between Fb and Vakif, Ecz this year budget appx 15m no Turkish player in Cl, 5 incredible players and Adams Usa Nt player
Is it easy stopped all of them. Even thiugh everything very close to defeat. But TL 4 players Where Is EczV?
I think Cl won Conegliano or Moscow also I hope next year EczV will play Cev Cup
They said We believe Turkish woman and play our source player and two or three foreign players but In Cl no Turkish plsyers

KimYK carried Korean NT also win Usa fight Brasil Russian etc and showed everytime who is the best so far
    KimYK number one

No, she wasn't. She was tested when this question came to the attention of the media, and it was confirmed she was 100% woman and could play female volleyball.

I know she was tested and proven female but ofcourse her wiki page and other news sites say otherwise.

Considering, this is a sensitive isssue. I think we should just put this matter to rest. I just want to correlate her possible decline to hormonal fluctuations and nothing more.

  • Does Kosheleva's contract with Eczacı end at the end of this season? ;(

Wanna know this, too. I guess she signed for 2 years but not sure. How about the other foreigners? If I am not wrong Boskovic has still a valid contract, I guess Thaisa also for next season, but Ognjenovic, Larson, Adams?

We can also see some local changes..

  • I hope Hande leaves Ecz and can play as Opp in another Turkish team, I mean yea people say she's still young and should be developed into an OH but I disagree. What Turkey desperately needs is a strong attacking Opp. We already have reliable, experienced OH's and also plenty of young talented OH's. But we have 0 reliable Opp's. Seda is too unreliable, so is Meryem and Polen is even worse this year. Why not make Hande Opp, I'm not surprised if Guidetti uses Hande as Opp in NT season as she was really good in u23 as Opp. What do you guys think of this? I really would love to see Hande as Opp.

  • Erika Coimbra??? If so, vow I had no idea there were these rumors about her back then.

Also how old was Mari in 2004? She was a beast in 2008, but I think back in 2004 she was even better, so she basically was playing at a high level for 2 Olympic Cyles.

d did great during the 2000 and 2004 OG

  • I don`t like to say Kim carried Korea to that Olympic semi final and neither to say Zhu carried China for the Gold. A Single player can not win a game. A example we can see right now. Vakifibank has ZHU and they did not win anything yet, if Zhu (or any other player) was able to win a match alone, Zhu would already given Vakfibank a tittle. At the Club Championship Zhu played really well and still Vakifibank did not win. Zhu did not had a good reception against Galatasary but she still had 54% in attack. But let`s say if she was playing with the Chinese team i`m sure China would win if if Zhu had a bad reception. Because the are a GOLD TEAM...and not only Gold because of ZHU.... If Kim carried Korea in 2012, why Korea did not reach the semis again in Rio? Because Kim did not get enough help from her team, but in 2012 she got a lot of help from her team.

  • As for Boskovic.....Well Gamova joined the senior team in 1998/1999, I think she was around 18. And she won the GOLD at the GP in 1999, then Silver at the 2000 Olympics. And the rest in history. Is very similar to Boskovic.

To start with Boskovic already has her name on the books, Silver at the WCUP and Olympics, MVP and Gold at the CWCH> Now she`s at her first CL F4. She`s not a young player with potential, she`s a young successful player.

Won`t be easy for her to keep this rhythm, but it can be done, just like Gamova did it. If she stays heath, focused and motivated, nothing will stop her.

I agree sometimes accomplishing too much at a young age can changes things. For example, Boskovic just turned 22 and Zhu 23, but they have already played at World Championship, World Cup, Olympics, Grand Prix, Club Championship and ( CL Final 4). For mostly girls at their age they are still dreaming in competing at these competitions.

They will need to keep themselfs motivated. For example if China wins the World Championship, China will have won the 3 Majors. And if ZHU gets MVP, she will have 3 in a row. Of course Boskovic wants a Medal at the WCH and Gold in Tokyo.

Boskovic getting blocked by Eda in the end of the golden set will serve for her as a lesson for the future. Zhu struggling with her reception is not winning any tittle yet is teaching her a lot.

Well, I'm so in-between about this she is better as an Opp in my opinion but NT will desperately need both OH and Opp after Gözde and Neslihan retires ( when I will probably sink into a deep depression ). Neriman, Hande and maybe even Seda can support the team in both positions, I really wonder which combination Guidetti will try. And about Hande leaving Eczacı, I think it would be better for her carrier, going to a team where she will be a constant starter, I would LOVE to see her in Gala.

Larson has a contract for one more year, Boskovic 2 more years, and that's all I know...

Mari was 20 years old when the Olympic games started. Her level dropped drastically after her injury in 2010 at the GP when she was only 26 years old. But she had many other injuries and surgeries beginning in 2005 when she was still very young and at the highest of her career.
