  • Monza ( 7th place) lost 3-1 to Molefetta. They have 32 points. And will play Trentino and Piacenza. All they need is 1 point and reach 33 points.

Ravenna with 29 points will play Valentia and Sora. They can reach 35 points.

Valentia and Latina both with 26 points. They can only reach 32 points.
Valentia vs Ravenna .......Latina vs Milano and they go against each other in the final match.

If Monza stays at 32 points ( 10 wins). Valentia can make it by winning 6 points, 32 points, but they will have 11 wins

If Latina wins 6 points, and reach 32 points (10 wins) they will tie with Monza, and it will comes down to sets/points.

I think Monza is in trouble, do you guys think they can at least take the game to a tie-break against either Trentino or Piacenza??? But the good news is that Ravenna,Valentia,Latina are playing each other.

  • Actually if I recall well Monza is the only team that grab a point in Palatrento this season.
Still, we agree that if Trento plays at its best, for Monza will be hard to repeat this result.

Latina was really close to grab a point yesterday, a point that could have been useful for the play off, but even more useful for Trento :P

Vibo almost compromised the play off chances with the loss vs Sora, but considering that they have two direct match everything is possible.

For Modena the third/second place is very hard now (Perugia and Trento should lost at least 3-1 both matches and they'll have to win both at least 3-1).

  • On sunday evening I read on Volleyball.it that several Modena players, Vettori in particular, were highly criticized and even insulted on personal matters by a group of Modena fans.

Being curious, I read the Facebook pages of Modena Volley and the Irriducibili (Modena organized fans) but couldn't find nothing. Checking again the next day, I finally found out that the criticism toward Vetto came from a small (I think) and historical (25-26 years) group of fans, so I checked their page... And I was almost shocked.

They (metaphorically) asked Vettori to "take off Modena shirt and F**k off to Sh*tTrento"
They don't complain about his performances (being aware that it's not the worsts of the teams) but about the fact he his taking times (4 month so far) to renew his contract with Modena: as far as I understood, they consider it like an outrage vs the most important volleyball team ever in Italy and probably not only there.
They accused him of doing that for money (aka he isn't content with the offer and is waiting for other offers). And of not being enough respectful toward Pedrini, since they apparently had a little argument during a fans-team dinner this week.

Few posts below, there is also an 'casual' refer to Lorenzetti leaving Modena for a 'pause year' that turn out to be a bit different than expected ;)

I don't know nothing of Modena insight, but I wondered one thing: if a coach like Lorenzetti – that adored the team, the players, the city (and left his family there!) – choose to take an year of vacation (when he resigned he hadn't got Trento offer yet) over training Modena (exactly, nothing was better than Modena, for him!); if Piano in the summer publishes a public post complaining of being 'manipulated' during the market; if Bruno more than once repeated that he would have loved to stay in Modena, if only he would have got an offer (that nobody did, apparently); if you built a team to satisfy a single player (Ngapeth), if the group apparently has problem, if the coach resined/was fired... Can we really think that money is the only problem, for Vettori?
I could understand it only if the problem is connected not to the money itself, but to the true meaning of that money; if Pedrini says Vettori is fundamental for the team, then is it coherent to offer him less than Ngapeth, for example? [--> I choose this example because I had the impression someone on the Facebook page suggested that]
[I specify that I had no idea of how much they earned!! It could also be the same as far as I know]

I would love to know something more about the 'behind the scenes'...

  • Talking about Bruno. Bruno Voluch ( Brazilian Blogger) posted once that Modena was not happy with Bruno after they failed in the CL, and they had already decided they would not renew with him, and they were already looking for a new setter for the following season. And everyone on the team already knew that including Bruno, and that made he feel really uncomfortable. And a lot fans in Brazil does not like Bruno at all, so they were really happy about what was going on. But of course I dont know if that is true or not. But I personally think it is true, so I don`t feel bad hearing any of the problems that is going on with Modena. Karma is a bitcheeee....

This (so far unknown) blogger is a liar :sos:

Nobody in Modena blamed Bruno for that defeat in CL (mostly because of no one gave a damn about CL, we only wanted to win SCUDETTO last year, and moreover Bruno was not the biggest problem against Ankara. We had a terrible reception and 2 players: Vettori and Ngapeth, completely out of shape). We lost Bruninho because last year, during spring, we didn't have money to pay a good salary both to Bruno and Ngapeth. We had to make a choice, and we have choosen Ngapeth

  • Sure, yeah, keep believing Voloch when it comes to rumors.

Bruno took part in a TV show last week and even said he still wants to move back to Modena to play there if given a chance as he had one of his best experiences as a player there. Why would he even say that if his departure was handled poorly by the team and he was blamed for their failure in CL? Makes no sense.

  • It's one thing to be known and another entirely different thing to be trustworthy. Not to mention he works for a politically biased newspaper that supported last year's coup, so yeah...

  • That sounds tabloid-ish to me that bruno-modena feud.

And Vettori shouldn't leave Modena for Trentino. I am shipping him with Maxwell. I basically coined their love team. I call their pairing #LucaMax. :teach:

You know what? If I have to choose, I'd rather Sabbi than Vettori

  • Monza did it, Vissoto scored 23 points. And they beat Piacenza 3-2. They are in 7th place with 34 points, if they beat Trentino they will for sure finish in 7th. If they loose will depend on Ravena vs Valentia.

Ravena(32 points) and Valentia (29) will play for the final spot. Of course Valentia must win 3-0 3-1. But if Ravena wins 3 points and Monza looses 3-0 3-1. Ravena will finish in 7th.

  • Lube doesn't really need to win (unlike Modena, because a loss could even means the fourth place), and that could change the equilibrium.
Beside that, I still think they will both play to win, because it's a possible 'play off' test. And because it always feels good to beat a strong opponents ;)

Lube has 2 losses whole regular season; against Modena and Trentino. I think Lube would really want to win vs Modena.

Sounds risky when they are in a good position heading to the playoffs for both the italian league and the champions league
