  • Chinese team is also not that great..is this B team or B-C team of China ? i remember Liu and Gong from B-team..the others?

Liu, Gong, and Lin Li are Olympic gold medalists with Lin being a main starter. Wang Huimin won a silver in 2014 World Championship and Wang Mengjie (L) won gold in 2015 Word Cup, both being bench players. Yao Di, Li Jing, and Zheng Yixin are b/c team squad, having never played any "World" tournaments or Asian Championships. The rest are all new.

  • In case Brazil wins against Thailand

    Tomorrow, for Poland, only win 3 x 0 or 3 x 1

But the THA team also wanna a share of "beating the BRA team experience" same as the GER team as well as not going home bagging all three losses...

all of these will ensure nail-baiting matches, with open ended results: GER - POL and THA - BRA.

    Quote

The Montreux Volley Masters, founded as the Coupe des Nations, later changed to BCV Volley Cup between 1990 and 1996, and to its current name in 1998 is an international invitational tournament for national teams in women's volleyball hosted by the Swiss Volley. Held annually in Montreux, Switzerland since 1984, it is the tournament that opens the international season for national teams.

The main objective of this competition is to work as a preparation for more important and prestigious volleyball tournaments organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), such as the World Grand Prix, the World Championship, the World Cup and the Olympic Games. Many national teams use the tournament as a way of giving experience and international baggage to young players and, as a result, countries are often represented by their underage national teams.

Too bad, a tournament of such long traditions cannot deploy the Challenge System and use a bunch of referees with dubious qualities showing many questionable or obviously bad decisions in overseeing the matches, at least in this year. Should I say it's a much overrated tournament? He he he just a fun gathering, no more no less... don't take it seriously :D

  • Any other links for pol- ger? Because usually loaola doesnt work for me...

  • It was mentioned before in the CL the Challenge System cost 10K per match. If you add a extra 10K cost per game it becomes too expensive, extra cost that a tournament like Mountreux probably can not afford.

  • Both German MBs with 1.11 blocks avg. per set so far and both Polish MBs with 1 avg, should be an interesting match. Germany needs two sets to be sure in semifinal, I hope our serve and block-defense will be enough for that because Lippmann will have much more trouble against Polish block than against the Thai.

  • German team doesn't have to do much yet, Poland with 12 errors handing over the 1st set easily, of course it had to end with a serve error.

What I really like about Germany is that the reason for success lies in good coaching and preparation, not in individual talent. You can see how well the players are positioned in defense, how many balls they touch in block etc., so Felix seems to be doing a very good job

You are totally right. In Poland it is all about individual actions and teamwork is very bad.

  • Polish block is very intimidating right now. We need to play more through the middle even if Kakolewska will block some balls there as well, but right now she gets to the outside very early so life for the wing hitters is very hard.

  • The GER team secures one point ensuring its berth in SF but seems not quite eager to top the Pool B, playing the bench players instead... leading 2-0 atm but the Poles will take the 3rd set. Let see whether GER will throw away this match eventually :-)
