So just curious, who's the favorite going into the competition? Russia is very convincing since their VNL win last July, also Poland is now on another level with Leon. I think those two teams are a cut above the rest. What do you guys think?
CEV Men’s European Championship 2019 - hosts France, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands

Leon (and I think Heynen as well) said that their goal is gold. I think Poland might be very strong during this competition.
Also I won’t be surprised if Kurek will be back there as he is training normally with the team already.

I think the draw will let Russia and Poland meet in SF which is a bummer, let's see how well Leon adapts to his new team

Correct, if Poland and Russia will win their groups, then they will meet in semis. Poland or Russia will have to be at 3rd or 4th place in their group to avoid themselves.

Just realized, Russia will be in Pool C together with Finland. I wonder how Sammelvuo feels competing against his previous team which he was at the helm as head coach just last year during WCH.. I wonder if the Finn players feel betrayed by this

Yeah we should get the discussion going as I feel men's volleyball is more enjoyable to discuss s w/o the toxic drama some users have over on the women's side

I'm so sad I probably won't have time to watch this tournament.

So many good teams. I have favourite players almost from every team.

He started to train already, but probably he is out of shape yet. Maybe he will get chance to play at World Cup.

Kurek won't play because he was not in wide roster, this is the only reason. Now he goes to Monza to train with his club and he will play at World Cup:

From Turkey's roster, burutay subaşı is excluded because of his injury.
Also Yasin Aydın, Oğulcan Yaygın, Çağatay Durmaz and Ertuğrul Gazi are out. They are replaced by Burak Güngör, Selçuk Keskin, Vahit Emre Savaş and Faik Samet Gunes.
Having such an experienced setter like Selçuk might upgrade the team. Also Vahit and Faik iş a better mb duo than our previous ones. I hope they can reach quarter finals 🙏

Austria without Bucchegger. Zass played great in qualification to Ech, but against teams with good block he will have difficulty
