    De Cecco is so off today. Disastrous distribution. I know he's probably the only world class setter in the world that doesn't force the pipe. Tonight hits a new low for him.


    Trento's serve is great tonight. The fault ratio is not bad as well which isn't helping Perugia like they used too. :gone:


    Colaci is playing mediocre again. Atanasijevic started playing bad then great and quiet again at the end. I'm attributing that to De Cecco. He is over using him.


    And now Anzani is injured. :( I hope Ricci does not get nervous. I think he have massive potential but we haven't saw him play in Perugia for a big time match.

    What a difficult match. Probably the best Trento Perugia faced this season.Just having a working opposite is the difference. The two negative thing about Trento is both Russell and Zaytsev controlled their errors and Perugia's servers especially Zaytsev and Podrascanin in the tiebreak can make it hard for Trento's receivers anytime and if we get a good timing we can force their wing spikers to commit the errors on attack. Atanasijevic was the most wasteful on our side but in Trento, it can be anyone of the three with the usually less erratic Kovacevic added to their list recently.


    I have to say De Pandis was at his best form on the defensive end. He was able to read the trajectories and is quite faster now than their previous encounters. I think his improvement is the key to Trentino's better grade against Perugia.


    If Eder can get a better connection with Simone, it could be more difficult for Perugia. I think that's what missing and also his serve is not effective anymore. Kozamernik's serve is harder to read with his change up to float or jump. Maybe he needs to take notes.

    The MVP of the match should be between Russell or Zaytsev. They successfully interchanged roles. In the tiebreak Russell became the main passer and Zaytsev suddenly became the main attacker for Perugia. Russell was still our best attacker but it's nice to see Zaytsev hitting all the difficult balls on 4 besides that imprecisely calculated tip. I thought it was smart but just not enough power to get it over the net.

    I have always the same feeling, just like after the match against Lokomotiv Novosibirks: the guys are exhausted.


    Anzani needed half an hour on bench because of cramps.


    I have no idea how we managed to win a match we played so poor to make look Trentino a strong team.


    Zaytsev was the best player of the night. De Cecco and Atanasijevic were so off. Podrascanin so so. Good Anzani as usual, good Colaci and good (improving to his best self) Russell.


    Trentino with Teppan is a far better team. He's better than Vettori. Way better.

    Trentino wasted months before dealing with the fact the guy needed a surgery... now he's almost back to his usual high level standard.

    what a terrible end to a nice set.... Clearly Bruno got to the ball... I hate it when refs ruin games like that, such an important point needs more concentration or at least refs must be able to call on the challenge themselves if they are unsure.. :wall:

    Macerata's "fake scudetto" (as you call it) season was 2011/12: they faced Trento in a single match final held in Milan and they won 3-2, 22-20 at the 5th. Last point was an attack by Kaziyski wrongly called out by the referees. You can see it here (eventual slow motions included) at 30:50.


    Then here is tonight's point.

    I'm not sure regarding that point, anyway it's not a BIG mistake. IMHO, when you lose a set the way we lost the first one, you don't deserve to win. Nothing more to say, I am still depressed due to the way this season evolved and how we managed (badly) the technical and corporate change last summer

    I have nothing on the brazilians but I guess I am used to the women adjusting pretty great to foreign leagues than it's men.


    I wish some of the best Brazilian players play more in Europe to see if they have changed or it is just a stereotype. Lucarelli can also be a sight to see and I wonder if how far he can measure up against the best players in the European scene. I know it's impossible right now with his knee injury but I really hope to see him in Europe when he gets back.

    Oh fly, Trento almost wasted a set where they've always appeared in control (also thanks to Perugia demerits, starting from the service line) with unforced mistakes in important actions (fought points or crucial for the moment).
    A think especially about a net invasion after more than once good dig by Trento in the last part, of Zingel error, and of Kovacevic attacking in the net/very low on the block after few good Trento digs at the 16-13, a point that helped Perugia follow closely and prevented Trento to fly away.


    Anyway, I think Trento is playing closely to their maximum while Perugia isn't, so the match is probably far to be over, unfortunately for me ;)

    Lanza and Vettori are playing great. The former in the service is exceptional so far.

    Why did Bernardi use Berger to sub for Russell? I think our best lineup for tonight is Berger as receiving opposite. I hope it doesn't backfire to Perugia. We might lose firepower with this rotation.
