2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

  • Russia played horrible 2nd set ... O.o looking at stats Turkey was much better in the 23-25 first set so maybe we should have won that one.

This is not the first time Turkey plays a tb with Russia or even beat them (if they had) Turkey played most of this match without their first 6 even with international debutants. Who seem very clueless at times and some scared to take responsibility. Imo this was the worst match of Turkey in this competition. Russians 3-2 Turkish debutants.

It's almost pathetic to see how bad Russian reception is and how easily they are aced. Only their middle and Voronkova was good today, the rest was really bad.
Personally I think Turkey will beat Russia in the race for Final 6. Any team in VNL (except Argentina) can beat this Russia on a good serving day.
China, Brazil, Serbia, USA, Netherlands, Turkey this year I'm pretty sure. But this 5 will be really tough on TR.

  • Maybe it will sound rude towards Turkey NT, but IMO they have a really good coach booster. Their players except few of them are really weak. They have strong MB like Eda not debutant, strong clever setter and a good libero and booster coach nothing more. They look too weak without Gui IMO :|
If they had strong players why Vakifbank have Zhu, Lonneke and Robinson, Eczaci have Kim, Boskovic and Larson. If today Meliha played well it is job of GUI not her strength.

  • Meliha also played good at her club season.Şeyma played better than Biryukova at Besiktas.Of course our wing spikers and opposites are weak because teams use foreigners at these positions. In Russia you do not hire foreigners, your promising players are always playing, so they are getting better as a player.

  • Only imagine if we change coaches GUI to Russia and Pankov to Turkey, maybe Turkey will play for getting set not getting the game. Turkey have a real booster like Guidetti. Guidetti already proved himself in Vakif, in Dutch NT, in German NT. The key of Turkey NT is all about Guidetti.

  • LLOYD Zehra played really good actually vs everyone including USA. She just was bad today. I don't agree that Turkish players are weak, they are always on the top in any junior tournament. But they can't improve themselves after staying as back-up always in big clubs. So far they have been doing great though, just because of 1 tiebreak loss against another good team like Russia does not mean they are bad. I don't like how we volleyball fans (I'm sometimes doing it myself) call so many players weak when a lot of them are already at top level. Look at football fans, they are completely passionate about some of the most random players.

Gio is indeed a great coach but in the end it is the players on court that are playing. Gio is by far not the only good coach in the world so if Russia has so much potential then they could try and sign one. It seems you agree with Gratcheva that Russia would be the best with a coach like Gio. If I am brutally honest Russia's glory days are just over (they have always been like top 3-5), unless someone like Voronkova does wonders. This era for me is the first one where I don't see Russia as one of the top contenders, they were always one.

  • I think, that Russia has currently issues in both available players as available Russian coaches. So they might improve with Zoran Terzic (if they accept a foreign coach, one of Serbia is most likely due to historic friendship and proximity of both countries), but to get back to the top, they have to have more strong players again too.

  • How do you manage to sound like sour grapes after you WIN, LLOYD?! :aww:

Regardless of the coaching boost (and there is no denying that Giu is one of the best coaches in the world, and that under his management several Turkish players have noticeable grown as players), Turkey very obviously has a great, promising young team, which is backed by their successes in the junior competitions of the last 3-4 years. Even if they are lead by someone else, Turkey would still be in the Top 10 teams in the world, IMO.

  • congrats to Russia
i had to leave after Turkey was leading 2-1 in sets..i just watched the replay now.
first, after leading 2-1 why starting the fourt set that badly ? those serves of Eda put some pressure on Russian passers in that set but it was late.
Russia had 22 blocks..what was the reason behind that ? players didnt play smart enough ? the sets were bad,or Russia was very good at block ?
Turkey should have been better at block..13 blocks arent too many for a 5-set match.Russia made the differenece with its blocks.even Lubiskina looked like a good blocker today :S
i normally like playing with many substitutions but this looked excessive to me..Guidetti knows better.
what is good the team is fighting.
what is bad the passing is shaky.i only found libero's passing acceptable.
of Russia, i liked Voronkova.she serves more consistently now.seems she worked on her game and serve.she is playing more confidently now.i remember her perf. in the last ECH against Turkey. since then she has clearly made some progress at least mentally.Malykh was good at tie-break.however this Russia team's job is really hard without Kosheleva and Goncharova, even with them against the top teams ..they look like a mid-level european team currently

if Turkey could have beaten Russia, would be good
now they are going to play agaisnt a better blocking team tomorrrow. the players should play more smart.could not be enough for a win but kind of improvement .

  • Turkey's additional trouble tomorrow (besides being the weaker team on paper) is that they just played an exhausting game (which they lost), while Serbia had a slightly more intense practice session with Belgium (with Boskovic being rested). They really needed to win this game.

  • congrats to German team..i didnt expect that win.. even they could have won 3-0..Good gam eby Lippmann adn Fromm adn especially German MBs did a very good job.good game by Ajcharaporn,Hattaya and Thinkaow.also Moksri is a good talent for Thai team.

i expected more from Japan but Ting's joining the team affected them positively. still the performance of the wings (Gong and Liu) of China arent good enough.seems Kurogo played a good game..nice for her.good game by Chinese Mbs..bad games by Japanese MBs,especially by Okumura.

good game by Dutch team and Lonneke,Buijs adn Plak. J Park for the Koream team

Tandara keeps playing well.Good game by Brazilian MBs Carol and Bia..nice for Carol.i hope she can play more in the other games.Good game by Smarzek adn Kakolewska in the Polish team.

good game by Mihajlovic,Milenkovic,Veljkovic against Belgium.Van Gestel was beter player in the Belgian team

interesting matches in the schedule of tomorrow :

    DR - Germany
    China - Italy
    Korea - Poland
    Netherlands - Brazil

  • Netherlands - Brazil is def. the match of the day :box:
Italy I feel can put China on pressure if they bring their 100% they can even beat them
I agree about Korea - Poland can be a good match too, I see Poland as fav without KYK
I also love DR girls, but most interesting thing for me about Germany is indeed Felix lol (I like Lippmann too though)
On Serbia - Turkey for me I just hope the girls give their all and make for an exiting match, some points would be great yea but I'm not expecting it at all, after all Serbia's the best team of Europe, for me even the best in the world actually. My two fave NT's so that's another one I definitely won't miss

actually if Serbia plays with its best lineup which is very likely to happen, the match of tomorrow will show where the level is in the world to Turkish girls.Turkey losses to Russia and wins next time but what is important and real : they will test themselves as whole team and see where the level is and where they stand/are as the new lineup of Turkey. normally i dont expect a win but fighting is needed.free from the result,i just want to see some fight and playing smart.thats all

  • Btw i don't believe Russia will be more succesfull with Guidetti.Once upon a time Russia had so many star spikers. But Russia couldn't produce star players after Kosheleva. Also Russian setters are so old fashione. If you ask me Russia can't win any big tournaments in next 4-5 years.Serbia, China, Usa, Brazil, Netherlands and even Italy have better players than Russia and all these teams have more modern game style.

  • Sorry for being rude if Turkey can win with Seyma, Meliha, Boz. Russia can be more successful with Gui and Varankova, Lazareva, Russu, Lazarenko, Ilchenko, Goncharova, Serban, Kosheleva ;) Put GUI as coach of Russia then say anything about it. If Boz, Seyma and Meliha were our players we couldn't win even single match with their power  even with weak coaches we beat GUI in final game and won European Championship. ;) Turkish players celebrate every ball like amateur players and even I can't celebrate every ball like that it seems childish and ridiculous even Lyubishkina showed her emotion like Turkish players with a joke way.

  • someone is incredibly jealous :D Honestly apart from Voronkova maybe I don't see names that are particularly better then Seyma, Boz, Meliha Zehra etc. Malykh played on Ceren's level 80% of the match lol all the players you mentioned are not like old Russian players big names

PS: maybe if the Russian players would put their heart and soul out like the Turks they could become better instead of unnecessarily mocking them. Maybe Turkish girls can imitate how Russian girls get aced all the time and bump into each other like the Russians do lol

What is your problem? Like really?
It's obvious the coach has a huge role, that's why it's a team.. but putting Turkish players down and saying there're winning because of the coach is nonsense.. Yeah maybe Russian team will be more successful with another coach, with Guidetti.. and your point is? You have a worse coach and you still win? Good for you

  • Did I say Turkey can win? :whistling: Even with our golden generation (2010-2012) we couldn't win anything.Of course we know we can't win anything with this squad.Maybe we can hope a medal at ECH.

I'm sorry but Russian's time is over. You don't have star players anymore.Your young generation is not bad but also not so good.Yes, you can beat us or some European teams but you can't beat Serbia-China-USA-Brazil at any big major tournament.
