Straubing signs Jil Döhnert as MB, but apparently this is only a temporary solution. She played in Münster when she was younger but the last years she only played in 2nd league.

I lost nearly completely track of her, when she left than so-called Allianz Volley Stuttgart 9 years ago, was also in Erfurt at times...

Schwerin with the better start, Dresden's reception is too shaky so far. But it's still early and the level of the match looks decent.
-
Schwerin prevailed in the end, but Dresden came as close as one point at times.
-
Wow, Sport1 showing the game live? Excellent😃
-
-
And now Schwerin leads 1:2, after Dresden was up 11:4 in third set already. IMHO Pogany is clearly better than Benson as libero, part of the small difference.
-
As expected Schwerin wins in the end: 1:3. Despite the defending champions had some issues like injury of their Japanese OH (three weeks out at least due to tendon issues) and not all setups on the court worked as expected. Dresden will try harder in the second half of the season of course, when Piia Korhonen is expected to return as opposite and Stigrot and Segura are supposed to be the primary OHs.
-
The statistics show small advantages for Schwerin in attack efficiency and reception, but the main difference was the number of errors: Dresden produced 24, Schwerin just 18.
-
Indeed Pogany played a good match today! But that said, the outside hitters where recieving bad today so she didn't recieve a lot. I also think Bongaerts made a difference with her fast sets. This way the middle blockers of Dresdner couldn't close the block, so the hitters of Schwerin had a easier job to attack.
Meanwhile Suhl won against Aachen. Siebring of Suhl is playing good, so maybe Jasper loses her spot on the dutch national team to Siebring.

Tomorrow Münster-Stuttgart and Straubing-VCO.

Maybe DVV and VBL should consider, to cancel the special participation right of the VCO juniors, before the next team is again beating the crap out of them?

That won't work because today is already their next match
In VCO's defense, their probably strongest OH Romy Jatzko injured her hand in the very first rally of the match and even had to be taken to hospital. But even considering that, losing 26:75 is an absolute joke and certainly won't help any of the girls to turn into a better player.

Looks like the stream of Münster-Stuttgart is not working, first it said "file could not be loaded" and now it's completely gone
IMO VBL made a big mistake with changing the broadcaster. Sportdeutschland streams had better quality and were more reliable overall I think.
-
Matthias, how is Hamson doing coming back from injury? Is she in decent shape? I saw she started in the last match.

From what I've seen of her so far she's not very convincing. Tall, slow, clumsy. Her serves are dangerous because of her height, but in attack she's not impressive (yet).
-
-
I expected she needed time get used to volleyball again. Her last official match was in december 2014. Then she played in WNBA.
I hope to see her best self soon.

Hope you got to see it in the end... I was there and IMO the gap between the teams (except perhaps in the third set) was less than a 3-0 would suggest. Münster's level held up well considering they lost their two WCH players. Mersmann was pretty impressive, I thought.

It's always easier for the underdog at home having nothing to lose against a favourite, so I would not overrate this result.
