Stuttgart survived the most difficult on the road match in Germany so far, won the tie-break in Potsdam finally 3:15 with 11 points at own serve in the end - Potsdam played three very strong sets and Stuttgart without Wilhyte (minor injury, was there but not eligible to play due not being registered for the match) needed a long time, to adapt and improve against the nothing-to-lose underdogs. Despite they gave the second time a point away, they are still the only undefeated team so far (and for the whole half of the league round).

Major trouble for Dresden at home: they lost first and third set 23:25 against underdogs of Straubing, won second 25:6 and have trouble in fourth, despite they recovered now from laying behind 4:8 at first technical timeout.
-
Only Red Raves Vilsbiburg got the expected result, they won in three sets in Erfurt; the formal neighbors in table play in Suhl close match, where the hosts are currently up 2:1 sets against Wiesbaden, while the latter are considered the favourites...
-
Rather interesting last day of first half of league round: while Suhl defeated Wiesbaden in four sets (fourth 25:10 ), Aachen was the first team aside from the top three to defeat Münster in the NRW-derby, even in three sets. But Münster stays anyway on fourth place in table.
Dresden is in big danger now, 9:12 in tie-break against underdogs Straubing .
-
Sensation in Dresden: the hosts, until now strong, even superiour against all teams but the two leaders Stuttgart and Schwerin, lost at home in tie-break 13:15 against Straubing, a team which is only trying not to vanish from first league at the end of the season .
-
The table after the first half of the league round (only points given, because there are no ties in this currently):
1. Stuttgart 31
2. Schwerin 28
3. Dresden 25
4. Münster 20
5. Aachen 19
6. Potsdam 18
7. Vilsbiburg 15
8. Suhl 13
9. Wiesbaden 11
10. Straubing 10
11. Erfurt 7
(12. VCO Berlin 1, not counting normally, because special license; only first eight will proceed to the playoffs/quarters)

Analysis of TV match Potsdam vs. Stuttgart: surprisingly in block kills and attack percentage both were nearly equal, but Stuttgart had advantages in service, reception and made less mistakes. The tie-break was really extreme, when Stuttgart produced 5 (!) aces alone (by Julia Schaefer) of the 11 of the whole match.
-
The statistics of Dresden vs. Straubing are useless regarding total numbers, because the second set was 25:6 in favour of Dresden, so their apparent advantages are stemming mainly from that set. IMHO too many mistakes in total by Dresden, but one has to watch the replay to get a better impression.

Slight surprise in Potsdam: the hosts lost again in tie-break, this time against guests from Wiesbaden, making too many mistakes. Because of that, Aachen stays on fourth, Münster on fifth and Potsdam on sixth place for now, Wiesbaden improved to seventh place (playoff place, the first eight go to the quarters).
Stuttgart had a at times tedious victory in three sets against strongly improved Vilsbiburg, they had to defend two set balls in the second set at 22:24 to win it finally with four points in a row and 26:24. Wilhyte was again not playing for Stuttgart due to a minor injury.

Well, i think we have no Team in the second League that will play First League next Season.
It is now officially confirmed:
http://www.badische-zeitung.de…a-zurueck--164936180.html
So the VBL loses one of it's most promising teams for first league license application completely (and for many years). R.I.P. winner of last and for sure also this season... VC Printus Offenburg will completely shutdown after 13. April 2019.
-
One more chance for Erfurt, to reach the last position in the table for the next years...
-
Guillermo Hernandez, currently head coach of Potsdam, got a ban for one match because of bullying head coach of Wiesbaden Dirk Groß. It seems, that Groß was nasty against the ball girls before and this was Hernandez' reaction (so one could easily propose, to fine Groß as well...). Hernandez' temper is infamous from former times when he coached Stuttgart... I read now, that Groß is also banned for the next league match. So it is at least kind of fair...
-
Todays most interesting match will be in Vilsbiburg, where the Red Raves will host the Ladies in Black from Aachen. The big difference in table positions in favour of Aachen should not deceive from the fact, that both teams seem currently very close regarding performance.
-
Indeed, Vilsbiburg won it's home match against Aachen in three sets, I guess, that not many would have expected this outcome .
-
Dresden had a not too convincing win in Erfurt yesterday, they seem vulnerable at times. Suhl won essentially in Straubing just in the crunch time every of the three sets with a small margin.
