Potsdam won a little tedious at home in the MBS hall against Erfurt, but secured three valuable points (four sets). So they could make use of the bad flu luck of Aachen and of the hopeless on the road match of Münster tomorrow in Stuttgart. Suhl could gain one place in the table from Münster for now, Potsdam increased the advantage on place 4 against the following teams, especially Aachen.

Lisa Thomsen announced that she is definitely going to retire after this season
Only due to certain cirumstances she continued her career for a few years, she wanted to cease it already earlier. So this comes as no surprise.

Today at 18:30 CET at Sport1 (stream and free TV) Schwerin vs. Dresden. Opposed to most times in the past Schwerin is currently the clear-cut favourite, but Dresden has nothing to lose, on the other hand needs urgently a success, because Potsdam could threat even their current third place.
-
Schwerin - Dresden 3:1 (23:25, 25:18, 25:21, 25:19)

MVP: Kimberly Drewniok / Ivana Mrdak

The expected outcome, but the numbers were not as one-sided, as one could expect: Schwerin was especially serving much better than Dresden and had an advantage too both in attack quotient and blocking. This means, that Schwerin stays in contact to Stuttgart in the league round, while Dresden is now threatened by Potsdam, which has just one point and one win less as Dresden now at the same number of matches played.
-
Pia Kästner renewed her contract in Stuttgart for two more years. Good move for both sides I think...
-
Yesterday Potsdam won important match against playoff rivals in Aachen, they lead already 0:2, than Aachen leveled, but Potsdam prevailed in tie-break with 6:15 (!). For the time being until Wednesday at least Potsdam took away the third place in the table from Dresden, but Dresden can get it back against Suhl than.
-
Today Wiesbaden did an upset at Münster in four sets and kept their small chances for playoff participation alive, while this was another drawback for Münster: they are now dropped to place 7 with only 25 points having two respective one matches more than the teams behind Vilsbiburg and Wiesbaden.

Dresden - Suhl on Wednesday as TV match.
-
This was IMHO no really convincing win of Dresden against Suhl in four mostly close sets. But it suffices for now, to get back to position three in the league before Potsdam. And I think Waibl is not realizing, that they are really far behind both Stuttgart and Schwerin and will never make it to the final series this season.
-
Dresden - Suhl 3:1 (25:22, 23:25, 25:22, 25:16)
http://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2018-19/Women/2098.pdf
MVP: Amanda Benson / McKenzie Jacobson
I wonder if Dresden's scout has very high standards for pos/perf receptions or if both teams really did that horrible there...
-
In Margon hall there are often low receiption numbers/percentages. Due to the statistics, especially Dresden was no good regarding mistakes and service too, for Suhl this is no surprise of course.
-
Despite for Stuttgart the championship is MUCH more important than the DVV Cup, which they already won three times (the championship never before, CJD Feuerbach nearly three decades ago was a totally another team in Stuttgart), I'm sure, that our players will show their usual fighting spirit tomorrow .
Schwerins headcoach, the quotes of the bookmakers and I all agree, that Stuttgart is favourite tomorrow. Personally speaking, I guess Schwerin will win at most one set, like they did at home against Stuttgart in the first league match of both this season - despite it can be a fault, to compare a league match with this very special atmosphere in a truely big and very well populated hall, of course.
Let us hope for a good match anyway, because those cup finals are not always on the highest level possible.
Vilsbiburg head coach Lippuner is guessing result 3:1 for Stuttgart.
-
I say Schwerin is going to win, though by all means IMO neither team is "the favourite". I think overall Schwerin has the slightest bit more quality in the roster, and Koslowski has shown many times that he is able to prepare his team very well for the key matches. Either way I also mostly hope for an enjoyable match.
It will be shown on Sport1, so people from abroad need a German IP to watch the stream.
-
I just found that Marie Schölzel is recovered and loaned to Münster, and Juliët Lohuis is recovered as well. Good for them.
-
First set goes to Schweriner. Both teams should change their starting setters, Kastner and Bongaerts did a better job than respectively Bugg and Hanke.
-
What does "Diese Videodatei kann nicht abgespielt werden." mean? I can't watch the game anymore.
-
2-0 for Schweriner! They put a lot of service pressure on Stuttgart, so Stuttgart has a lot of difficulties to receive.
