The OGQT is most useless tournament ever. They (FIVB) could easily use the rankings to give the berths at the end of the 2024 VNL. 95% of the qualified teams wouldn’t change eventually.
The teams are tired. Not playing their best volleyball and quite relaxed, 'cause they know this tournaments are useless and they (top teams) will qualify anyway.
It's gonna be Host + top 10 ranked teams + african team.
Right now Germany is the only possible upset in the men' s tournament.

Nuh, canada has chances too. also Dominican republic could have missed the berth if they wouldn't win it via Olympic qualification

DOM would be there anyway, expecially after the exploit at the NORCECA Championship against the USA team. It was just a matter of how good they could handle their ranking (and we all know they play every single game with the main team, rotating 1 or 2 players). They are 8th in the ranking with 40+ points over Canada.
The last spot has always been Canada vs Netherlands since the 2023 VNL and it will solved after the 2024 VNL, so this tournament was useless. The whole top 10 will qualify to the games next summer.
1° Turkey
2° USA
3° Brazil
4° Serbia5° Italy
6° China
7° Poland
8° Dominican Republic
9° Japan
10° Netherlands / Canada (Netherlands is 10th right now)
+ host and best african team (Kenya right now)
The african race is far more open, considering how unstable are these teams, than the run for the 10th place of the ranking.

if Canada can't take the last ticket, there would be 5 teams running for that spot next year with current point gap which is very little. This tournament is definitely not useless.
I meant men's volleyball.
There are more men teams are on the good level than women teams.
I don't understand why all volleyball calender for men and women should be same. Women tournament was pretty useless, same with the last 4 teams in the VNL. On the contrary, mens vnl with 16 teams is great.

It's pretty much the same for men's volleyball.
Whoever plays better the 2024 VNL is gonna make it to the games. France is a top 10 NT, so it is even more useless, because the top 11 ranked teams (+ african team) will be all qualified.
1° Poland
2° USA
3° Italy
4° Japan
5° Brazil
6° Argentina
7° Slovenia
8° France
9° Serbia
10° Germany
11° Cuba
12° Canada
13° Netherlands
14° Iran
From Poland to Slovenia it's quite safe to assume all teams will qualify, now or after the 2024 VNL.
Except the possible upset from Germany in the QT, all the teams from Serbia to Iran will fight for the 3 (or 2, in case Germany makes it) remaining tickets. It still will end with the top performers after 2024 VNL.
Even if Germany takes the ticket now, is just a single upset worth such a long qualification tournament after a very long summer? I don't think so.
23 out of 24 teams will be the top ranked NT + african teams and host; you won't get to see any major upset like Porto Rico or Mexico.
Only difference between men's and women's volleyball is the higher quality on the male side, with 6 teams fighting for 3 spots instead of 2 teams fighting for one...

if Canada takes the ticket as well now with Germany, 2024 vnl will be meaningless. Noone can reach to Serbia.

Serbia is just 45 point ahead the Cuba. They have to play the top 3 teams of their pool and can easily lose all these games and drop half of their advantage over Cuba.
2024 VNL will decide the destiny of all the tier-2 NTs.

And cuba will play italy and brazil.
If Canada takes the ticket now, your last sentence is pure nonsense.

Why? There is another spot for the tier-2 teams. From Serbia to Iran, all teams have chances till the 2024 VNL. And you are assuming a big IF.
Eventually you'll see 95% of the top ranked National teams after 2024 VNL will be in PARIS, making this tournament a waste of time and energy.
It's like ATP in tennis makes up a new tournament with the top 32 ranked tennis players to qualify for the ATP finals, giving them 4 spots for the semifinalist. And then letting the last 4 spots be assigned by the race ranking. It makes no sense, because the best players would qualify anyway by the ranking. There may be un upset, but that's it. Players would only waste energy on tournament they could easily avoid.
I hope Canada qualifies, anyway.

IMHO FIVB and CEV should work together to make something like this happen.
I used the women's ranking for the example.
These 3 tournaments should give ranking points to qualify for OGs, WCH and ECH, deleting all the qualification tournaments.

Same scenario for the other continents. Those - South America, North America, Africa - with less team would need a European League-like tournament, while Asia could have a 2 levels tournament.
Panamerican Cup could be the american tournament, since the VNL teams use their B-Teams (forcing DOM to do the same, lol) and give the VCC spot to the best ranked non-VNL team, or just let play PRI, COL, CUB, ARG and the other american teams not playing VCC.
-
You did not change much, top teams that have so many matches per season dont play qualifications. And teams that play qualifications dont play VNL and barely play challenge. So it would not be big revolution.
-
FIVB announced that there won't be separate qualification tournaments for WCH and Olympic Games starting next year.
Best teams from continenal championships + highest ranked teams will qualify to WCH and OG.
The only competition with existing qualification tournament is Eurovolley, and I don't think that CEV is going to change it.

The libero can only set with their hands behind the three-meter line.
