i only watched a little bit of the 3rd set. ARG is a mess, they play like high school girls... i never thought one day MEX would be beating ARG so easily.
wow. COL took BRA to the limit from the score...

Display Moreleonardo,
doesn't pan am games have 10 teams? how will the others qualify for the games?
{The berths for USA, Brazil and Dominican Republic are secured. It is hard to predict which teams could get the last 2.}
if i were to guess, i'd say PUR and COL...
Pan American Games has never had 10 teams. In the last 5 editions, it has been played by 8 teams.
According to the rules, the top 5 ranked teams qualify to Lima 2019. Peru has secured its berth because they host the tournment. Dominican Republic is playing with their best squad, USA and Brazil, eventhough they are playing with B team, have enough quality to qualify (I think so). So there are still 2 tickets available in this Panamerican Cup.
Colombia could be the underdog and grab the ticket. They already beat Puerto Rico some weeks ago in the Challenger Cup. They really challenged Bulgaria B too and now, they almost B Brazil B.
Im also suprised Mexico beat Argentina in such an easy way
One thing Dani Lins have that Roberta doesn't have is a good connection to her middles.
There is a paid version on the NORCECA website if someone is interested ($ 13). But judging by the interviews after the games I suppose it is the same official NORCECA broadcast. Someone bought it and is broadcasting on YouTube.
i just watched the beginning of the vid of BRA x COL, which starts in the 2nd set... COL is playing really well, but to be fair, this is not even BRA B team, it's more like C... edinara was not playing well and was subbed by fernanda tome... i don't know these players at all, maira (OH) and bruna (OPP).
(btw i don't think it's fair to say roberta doesn't have connection with her MBs.)
wow, COL was up 2-0 but lost 15-13 in the 5th set... they really made lots of progress.
i guess PER is without leyva?
oh please saishuu

please tell me what you think about the game now
i guess PER is without leyva?
And a bunch of others. Are you aware of their issues these days, with a bunch of players leaving the NT in protest?
Full stats are not out yet, but it seems Thaísa scored 20 pts. She must be feeling good. Zé too.
Oddly, Carlini is doing a decent job setting the middles (once in a while).
I wonder if USA can challenge Brazil and DM with this squad. They are having a hard time closing Cuba out.
Edit: Cuba won! USA's reception couldn't take a proper jump serve.
what surprise for today?
can trinidad and tobago beat cuba? 40% possibility for me
and maybe Canada can win with rep domenican....
I'm thinking Mexico has a good shot against Colombia
no, saishuu, what’s happening with PER?
thaisa was wearing some huge knee brace. only finished watching the 3rd set. BRA block killed COL in the 3rd.
Brazil is playing with 2 very experienced olympic players: Dani LIns and Thaisa.
The main reason is to give them international activity and see if they can be fit on time to play for Brazil in the upcoming World Championships.
There are other players that had a good season in their clubs including Claudinha, setter who played for the Superliga last champion Praia, Lorenne who played for Osasco (as a sub for the great Tandara), etc. all in all , a team with a lot of well known players in Brazil. Also I have to say that this team is not young. The age average is 26/27 years.
They only have trained for 4-5 weeks and perhaps the team will pick up in the latter stages of this competition. For the time being, they got scared by a very young (basically a U-23) colombian team.
The biggest disappointment for me so far is Argentina. After an exhausting VNL, they seam to be deflated and without ambition. The loss yesterday against Mexico in 3 sets took them by surprise.
And for Peru, it is completely chaos. Their Federation is in judicial dispute for the power right now, with the previous president being removed and with her, all the plans they had envisioned at the beginning of the olympic cycle in 2017.
As a result, the previous coach, the well renowned brazilian Luizomar DeMoura (which is also coach of Osasco from the superliga) was fired for no specific reason and replaced by a coach with terrible reputation.
The main players of Peru like Angela Leiva, Carla Rueda, Frias, Urrutia among others from the team A, refused to play for the national team and the results so far have been catastrophic. The majority of the fans in Peru are completely anger and in shock.

xopxeech1 explained it better than I could.

Thanks for the explanation. Pity that we can't see Leyva here, it is a big pleasure to watch her
Can someone explain what's the difference of Pan American cup and Pan American Games. Which one is more prestigious?
Can someone explain what's the difference of Pan American cup and Pan American Games. Which one is more prestigious?
The Cup is just a small tournament where the 5 best teams qualify for the Games, which is the biggest tournament. Pan American Games are like the Olympics, only for the Americas.

Can someone explain what's the difference of Pan American cup and Pan American Games. Which one is more prestigious?
Pan American Games is WAY more prestigious than the Pan American Cup. Pan American Games is a major sporting event which is held every 4 years in the Americas. After the Olympics, it is the most important sporting event (without counting the football World Cup). And the Pan American Games does not only include volleyball, it features all the summer sports.
In the other hand, Pan American Cup is only a volleyball competition. It is played by Norceca and CSV teams. It was created in order to make an panamerican union in volleyball. It used to be the qualifier for the extint Grand Prix, thats why Brazil and USA used to send a mixed team. When Grand Prix changed the rules into divisions, Pan American Cup lost interest. That's the reason why Brazil has event sent its junior team a couple of times, USA has sent its C team and so on, Cuba too (when they were a competitive team) and so on.
Isn’t there a video or something that we can watch Thaisa?
