Wonderful Kazakh Music in the background toward the end as they hang the medals on the players

  • i just watched the accelerated version of third and fifth set of the final match

what a come back by Nec Red Rockets in the fouth set : from 11-19 to 24-19...13-0 run wow :cheesy: Hirose did a very good job in that set!

even they made it 14-14 (from 10-13) in the fifth set but lost it in the end

That was an amazing comeback in the fourth set. This was a great little confidence building tournament for Nanami Hirose. She did most of her damage from OH. The Best OP AWARD notwithstanding, she's not really an OP. She also served pretty well, started the Semi Final match with three aces. Like most jump-servers, though, in the end she probably had as many errors as aces.

Most of the competition wasn't tough, but this is also a pretty good debut for NEC's new Coach.

  • Volleyball Cup HD has the best streams of this final day's matches that I've found. Crowd noise and no commentary.

    Thailand vs Japan

    China vs Kazakhstan

  • is Kazakh team that good or Chinese team isnt good enough ?

Kazakh team isn't bad. I don't know much about them but they seem like one of those teams where the ball just doesn't bounce in their favor :) They are a tall-ish bunch, though, and had a wonderful home crowd cheering them on.

(btw - it looked like pretty good facilities there and if they can muster 4,000 fans for a match at this level, they should toss their hat in the ring for bigger hosting duties)

The Chinese team is without its three NT members. Some will excuse it as a B team, I guess. I was surprised at the awards given to the Chinese players as I didn't see anyone on the team play that well, including my darling Wu Han who is fighting for a spot on the NT.

  • Chinese team brought in 11 players, starters playing all games. Therefore the players got some awards because other top teams' starters didn't play all of the games. Li Jing got MVP for Asian Cup because she played all the games for China.

Now that you mention it, I don't know who else I would have given awards to ... except maybe the Coach of Taipei CMFC for Best Cheekbones. What a beauty!

They can give her the Miss Volleyball award for beauty like in the 2018 VTV9 Cup. Most awards are based on stats anyway so the more a player plays, the better her chances of winning. Another reason is diversity, making sure every team gets something. It is all about getting the gold for players. Individual awards are secondary.

Damn, that stream of the Final match jumps from 16-7 in Set 1 to the beginning of Set 2.

After all my kudos to Thailand for always providing TrueHD streams of all thailand matches they let me down. I'm surprised there is NO good stream of that final match. The stream for the first Thai v JPN game is 1080 60fps beautiful. The good streams usually come from here:
