Italy- Superlega 2018/2019

  • Congrats Lube.

Losing by serial chokers says It all about Perugia.

I don't Need to mention Atanasijevic Is the first player Who renewed with Sir Safety.

Perugia could have won the quadruple or be in all the finals if they actually remain with Zaytsev or Russell. It's such an insulting mistake to let both of them go. Leon just doesn't deserve this team. It's honestly embarassing.

Favorite players: M: Maxim Mikhaylov, Murilo, Serginho, Aaron Russell, Otavio, Simone Giannelli, Ivan Zaytsev, Tsvetan Sokolov, Michał Kubiak, Mariusz Wlazly, Pawel Zagummy W: Sheilla, Zhu Ting, Natalia, Fe Garay, Fofao, Gabi, Thaisa, Foluke Akinradewo, Wei Qiuyue, Ding Xia, Carli Lloyd, Fabi, Natalia Goncharova, Yuko Sano, Saoris Kimura and Sakoda

Anzani. Anzani. Damn it. Anzani. He was the best middle of the world during lat play-offs.

We just needed a good outside hitter and Zaytsev as opposite.

  • He played well, but really today EVERYBODY gave its fundamental contribution. Congrats to all of them, staying strong after being two sets down.

  • Osmany MVP!

My God, please no. He's the main reason why Perugia won the first 2 sets: he always kills any good vibe inside his team. His attitude to his teammates is just terrible, always unsitisfied by everyone else but himself.

Bruninho should be the MVP, since he played 5 sets without perfect passing and gave classes to De Cecco, as usual.

And Balaso, covering about 5m was amazing as well. Every other libero would be aced 30 times in his place.

  • Lube vs Zenit will now have more meaning, Lube fresh from their recent win, and Kazan believe me will be in fighting form after losing their local championship. :box:

  • At least we won the Italy Cup. I stay with the good vibes coming from it. :)

My prediction was an epic fail in every competition and a 5th place in Superlega. We won a throphy and reached the finals. It's more than I expected. :saint:

  • I'm curious to see whether Leon will say that this game was important or not.

Gold - European Championship 2013 (M) Prediction Game
Bronze - World Championship 2014 (W) Prediction Game

Bronze - Volleyball Nations League 2019 (W) Prediction Game

    Osmany MVP!

He started the serving run so slightly deserving but in my opinion Sokolov is more consistent during the playoffs.

Bruno is the best player in the semifinal but I think Sokolov or maybe Simon are my MVPs.

I think Russell has some sort of Sokophobia. He loses his confidence when he sees his block and I think that was the main reason Lube won the semifinal. lol

You are right. Balaso, Bruno and Simon were more determined for the win.

  • Osmany got the MVP because well he is Osmany Juantorena!

I think it is also because of Leon's attitude. You can say Italian media felt disrespect towards Juantorena and Lube and started to write pro-Juantorena articles, comments after Leon's interview in the second match.

Only exception was Gazetta, Pasini. You know he was too busy ...... Zaytsev's ass(!)

So true. This win is so important for Lube that any final losses they received in the past two seasons are all but Thanosed away.

  • Osmany's drama started: he's joking about a sport national newspaper which published an article about Perugia champion of Italy by mistake after game 4. :rolll::rolll::rolll:

I wonder if Bata will answer or resist.

  • I thought I've seen shady but Zaytsev's got to be the shadiest one by liking the posts of Sir Safety Perugia's official instagram on the sets they've lost. :gone: You can tell love was not lost between the club and him. It's really funny.

Orduña liked one of Lube's players posts as well. :gone:

Instead, Balaso got aced, like, 9 times :) Balaso showed more determination towards the end of the match and he contributed a lot, just like the entire team, yet he made some mistakes before that. There is still a long way to go for him to fill in Grebennikov's shoes, but he is young and he might come close. True, he had to do cover extra sometimes, so let's give him credit for now.

I guess jokes are all on Perugia's side now. With Atanasijevic's behavior against Monza (and in general) and Leon's arrogance, most, if not all, neutral viewers had turned against them. They are not as invincible as they had thought and I hope this defeat teaches them some humility. Highly unlikely, of course, but let's hope. I am curious what they had to say after the match. As saishuu correctly mentioned, perhaps it was not all that important after all :) Or maybe he decided to hit Simon and mostly Sokolov's blocks on purpose for the sake of exercising.

I enjoyed Lube's win very much last night and didn't have the emotional power to write anything after the match :D Congrats for a title well-deserved, long expected, well invested for, and surely hard-fought! This is certainly the sweetest and most difficult title in their club history. It wasn't the very best of volleyball because some players underperformed and emotions prevailed over tactics at times, yet it didn't lack drama. A typical Italian final :D Even if they lost the first two sets, Lube finally showed means of handling Perugia's game in their gym and, apart from sections of the first set, didn't look disadvantaged or way behind their hosts at last. Yet a complete comeback by a team that had lost so much over the last couple of years was not quite to be expected. So kudos to the players, their coaching staff, and their overall determination! It was about time they ended that silver curse! if logic prevails now and faith plays a role, they should be able to revenge Zenit on Saturday.

Also, I am glad that Lanza, an otherwise limited player who is, however, often overlooked in this forum, was perhaps Perugia's most consistent or even best player.

Honestly, I think Balaso was better than Grebennikov in his first season with Lube.

Jenia, for his own admission, played his worst 3 seasons with them. And Juantorena never dare asking him to cover around 5m of court. And of course having to pass the ball beside Sander is easier than being between Osmany and Leal.

Balaso was called to some impossible duties. Most of the times he gets aced is when he has to dive into Osmany's feet to pass the ball instead of his teammate, who moves away from it as he doesn't care at all.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Balaso was as good as Grebennikov, but he played a hell of a game last night. I definitely think he was Lube's weak link throughout a lot of the season but did an amazing job today of keeping those Perugia bombs in play for Bruno. Especially when juantorena and Leal weren't up to the task.
