First, I always wondered about what setters do when they are backcourt. It seems to me that a normal set would involve the setter touching the ball above the net ALL THE TIME. Especially a jump set. Is that really a rule? There's no "Setter Exception"?
Second, forget the rule about backcourt or not. Clearly--to my eyes, anyway--Hye-Jin contacted the ball on the opponent's side of the net. And Su-Ji's hands looked to me like they never breached the net line. Bad call.

Third, you can't lose a Tie-Break when you're up 13-10. <cough>Thailand</cough>. No excuses.

(1). I'm pretty sure if the setter is a back row player then they would only do a standing set and not a jump set. If the setter only stand and set, it is most likey part of the ball is below the top of the net.
I found this in the FIVB Volleyball Rules 2018-2020:
Section 13.3 Faults of the Attack Hits
13.3.3 A back-row player completes an attack hit from the front zone, if at the moment of the hit the ball is entirely higher than the top of the net.
(2). As the camera angle is not looking straight down the net we can't be 100% certain that the ball is completely on IBK side of the net.
Have a look at the video of the match again, go to 2:29:17, pause it and then slow down the play speed to 0.25. On this angle, I think a small part of the ball has gone over to IBK side of the court but the majority of the ball is still on GS side of the court when both players made contact with the ball.
(3). You can lose a tie-break set even if you're up 13-10 but you shouldn't though.

There is no new news but it is pretty obvious why Hyundai #4 Hwang Youn-Joo is not playing.
Youn-Joo can't play alongside Milagros Collar (Maya) because Hyundai reception will become a problem. Unlike Expressway Hi-pass who mainly operate a 2 players reception line, Hyundai receivers are sadly ain't as good. Initially Hyundai did try to play with both Youn-Joo and Maya but it just didn't work out because Youn-Joo was very vulnerable in reception. Simple answer is Hyundai went with Maya as she was putting up more points than Youn-Joo was. Also, with OH Go Yoo-Min playing, Hyundai reception is more reliable.
I think I did say something similar to that effect when Hyundai hired Maya and that I couldn't see Hyundai playing them together on court because of the reception.

Hye-Jin isn't 'attacking'. It's true we don't have a straight down the net angle, but look how beautiful these Korean Streams are:
So if the rule is that as long as any part of the ball is still on Hye-Jin's side of the net--I think that's possible here--Hye-Jin can reach over the net to Su-Ji's side in order to get her hand in front of the ball and hit it back to a team mate .... Hmmm
If that's legal on Hye-Jin's part, then Su-Ji can't interfere with it. It's possible that Su-Ji's pinky finger is over the net line (but the ref can't see that, lol).
It must matter who touches the ball first. The Ref's call may be that Su-ji touched the ball first before it was completely on her side of the net:

I'm not sure who it is who served the ball to start the play, but if you start playback at 0.25 speed before she serves you get a hilarious look at that Korean thing of running in place before taking off to serve. A LOT of Korean players do that. I love that about them

News Update:
- From the articles, Youn-Joo injured her 4th finger (guessing ring finger) on her left hand. She pick up the injury during training in December last year. Youn-Joo had the surgery on 15th and the recovery time will take about 4-8 weeks. So basically she is out for the rest of the season. Sources: 1, 2, 3, 4
News about transfers/trade won't come out until after the season has ended.
At the end of this season I think the following players are Free Agents (not official list so not 100% sure):
- Expressway Hi-pass - Yim Myung-Ok [Li] and Bae Yoo-Na [MB]

You have to let the setter set the ball, unless it crosses the plane of the net. if the ball is not on your side of the court (crosses or on net) a blocker cannot cross until 3rd hit by offensive team or spike attack (on 2 from front row attacker or back row attacker).

Heungkuk Pink Spiders and Expressway Hi-pass are the only two teams remaining that can win the regular season championship (and automatically qualification to the finals series).
I don't know how KOVO decide the schedules but IMO it really is unfair for GS Caltex. GS have a tough task with 2 matches in the space of 3 days against a resurgent Hyundai E&C and 2nd place Hi-pass (btw the matches are both at 16:00 KST on March 1st and 3rd respectively). IBK on the other hand will have a much easier schedule as they have a whole week of rest before taking on KGC and then against Hi-pass. IBK also have the added advantage of knowing GS final points tally before they even play the first of their last 2 matches.
IBK will probably win against KGC next week and take all 3 points. So it is very important that GS get at least 3 points from their 2 remaining matches as IBK will have to then beat Hi-pass too.
It is true that GS's 6th round schedule is the hardest. But GS has the best schedule for the entire season. GS plays five games against the other teams which only one day off. 5 times is the largest in the league.
Fans of all clubs, including GS fans, think the schedules of Heungguk and Hippass the hardest.
Already head managers of all women club have complained to KOVO about the matter. KOVO accepted these opinions of the teams so perhaps women's games are going to be held on Tuesday & Thursday or Wednesday & Friday(Even on weekends, of course, games will be held in one game per day.)

Here is the remaining schedule (excluding the playoffs + finals series)
I wouldn't say the entire Round 6 schedule for GS is hard but GS is the only team to finish their regular season first and potential they might have to wait a whole week to learn their fate. 1 day of rest in between match isn't fair when the other teams have at least 2 or 3 days of rest in between
Hi-pass have 3 games in the last week is because in Round 6 they had like a 9 days gap in between their 1st and 2nd match.
Similarly, Heungkuk have 3 games in the last week is because after Round 6 started they did not have their 1st match until a whole week after R6 started (and gap between their last match in R5 to their 1st match in R6 was 9 days).
IMHO it would have been better if all six teams matches were evenly spread and at the end of the round/season each team should play their last match in the same week (like how Round 5 was scheduled at the end).
The best and simplest option base on the current schedule would have been to swap Hi-pass vs GS match on March 3rd around with IBK vs Hi-pass match on March 10th would have been a better choice.
Forcing the women teams to play 2 match on the same day and at same time was a stupid decision from KOVO (IMO this was simply to protect the men games) but that is a different matter to how the game a spread between teams.

I know I previously said I didn't want to discuss this contentious point any further but does it make a difference if GS setter #7 An Hye-Jin (from the receiving team) was at the time in a back row position?
For reference here is the footage link (point begin at 2:29:15). The referee originally ruled this as a reaching violation against IBK MB #11 Kim Suji (in blue/from the serving team). The referee was later fined for this call and the reason given by KOVO for this fine was because the referee should have ruled against the setter for a back row/rotation violation (sorry not sure of correct term).
From my understanding, a back row player cannot played at or make contact with the ball when it is above the height of the net (like it shown in the pictures kindly provided by sitenoise in post #225) if they had set off/jumped up from within the front part of the court? Isn't this also a an actual fault and would this fault come before the reaching violation?

Yes she can, only attacking and blocking is not allowed. The call you refer to was saying that the block player was reaching over the net, i.e. interfering with the (legal) set. I have no idea why the referee would be fined for that because he can surely call it in this situation. Maybe whoever reviewed it said that the ball was right over the middle of the net, so both players were allowed to play at and he shouldn't have interfered at all. Another referee might as well have decided against the setter for reaching over the net, those situations always are very close and hard to decide.
Interesting to me that a 'no call' might have been the best option for the ref but that hardly seems worthy of a fine. I wasn't sure at the time what KOVO had decided was the proper call.

Very few times is the back row setter called for being above the net while setting. If the ball came off the setters hands and went over the net then it will be called. However the expected play for the setter is that the ball will stay on her side (setting for the 2nd touch). If the ball crosses the net, the middle can swing and the setter would blocking, illegally.
