    KGC :super:

You are the 1st person to correctly point out why I put the highlights and replays before the scores and stats.

I was thinking of hiding the match result and stats behind spoiler too but wasn't sure, should I do that from now on?

  • Altos v KGC:

    - KGC is really lucky to have Alaina.. She is really dominant ...

    - I think this league is the only league that really like making setter as MVP... like GS setter before or Lee Dae Young/Lee Hyo Hee in previous seasons...

    Round 1 stats:

    - I thought Park JA is gonna be MVP.. I guess she lost because her club is not in the top and her spike percentage is not good...

    - It's hard to imagine Hillstate gonna improve their standing.. I'm afraid they will still have a hard time to win a match, despite 3 of their players in top 5

  • You are the 1st person to correctly point out why I put the highlights and replays before the scores and stats.

I was thinking of hiding the match result and stats behind spoiler too but wasn't sure, should I do that from now on?

The layout is superb. The only thing I might put behind spoiler is the MVP videos, not for 'hiding' them, but to cut down on the number of videos the page has to load. I put a link to each of your recaps in my Evernote, so that when I watch the game I can go to it for handy reference in trying to learn names. When there's two or three recaps on a given page it jumps around for a long time and often doesn't even end up at the proper post.

Not a big deal. For normal browsing after all is said and done, the posts look great. It's nice to see the key frame photo of the MVPs sitting there, so I'm torn about it. I also like the Instagram capture of the result. Very nice multimedia posts.

I wish I could do the same for Japan :wall:

btw - I may have to stop watching these Korean videos because it makes it harder to suffer the Japan streams :(

  • Seems between common and mandatory for Korean players who make an error to raise their hand and acknowledge it to ... someone. The coach? What's going on there?

  • I never realised before that this is something only Korean do. I know Alaina from KGCC does that so i never thought too much of it

Maybe it to acknowledge their mistake to the coach, to their team or to the people who are recording the stats.

I honestly don't know, so your guess is as good as mine.

  • Round 2 Match 1 - Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-pass vs. KGC Ginseng Corp. - November 7th, 2018

That was a great match. Ups and downs from both sides. KGC had a few too many brain farts at the end, but they are really endearing themselves to me as a group to root for and enjoy, blemishes included. Winning is secondary. Their starting 6 plus #12 are all good players with good attitude.

Hi-Pass was a digging machine at crucial times. #18 impressed me offensively. She's going on the list of names I want to learn. #12 is still driving me nuts. Moon is her name. I can remember that because it kind of makes sense :S Love her serve, though. I feel bad for the Serbian girl :(

  • Hi-Pass v KGC:

    - Ivana didn't play at all, again.. Is she really that bad? MVP last season, now an unused sub? That's sad...

    - PArk JA become favorite setter target... She performed well...

    Kixx v Hillstate:

    - Very bad reception stats for Hillstate... Add with no OH scoring, they deserve their lost....

    - With 0 win, and no improvement in their performance, instead it's getting worse, I have to say Hillstate should change their coach ...

  • Definitely this season, Ivana is not performing. The ball she hitting ain't getting pass the defender or finding the floor. It a mystery as to why she not getting the result like last season. If she can just get her mojo back Hi-pass can get back into the mix.

As I mention before the season start, Hyundai reception was always a concern but now they are the team with the worst spiking success rate and commit the most errors per set. They just don't have any outstanding spiker like the other teams. OP #4 Hwang Youn-Joo is still a decent player but she getting older. OH #15 Hwang Min-Kyoung is more a defensive player but is struggling in attack this season. MB #14 Yang Hyo-Jin is the team leading point scorer but she is only on court half the time and if Hyundai can't get the side-outs when she off court then they are even more screw. The other players are just not quite there, they are decent in either only attack or only defence. IMO it is a bit to early put all the blame on the coach.

On the other hand, for me the most disappointing team isn't Hyundai but Heungkuk. Heungkuk should be doing much better, they just haven't dominated the league or performed like what everyone was predicting them to do.

  • Definitely this season, Ivana is not performing. The ball she hitting ain't getting pass the defender or finding the floor. It a mystery as to why she not getting the result like last season. If she can just get her mojo back Hi-pass can get back into the mix.

Hello, as always it's a real pleasure to see theloneracer superb match reports.

Apparently Ivana is no longer a Hi-Pass player. They're looking for a replacement for her.

    Sources: 1 , 2

I think Heungkuk performance eventually will improve, new players need some time to adapt. Are they good enough to dominate the league like some people predicted is a different matter.

  • Hillstate:

The coach is not that bad.. I don't understand why she didn't pick an OH from the draft.. She picked 2 MB on the draft.. She knew she lacks OH after HYM retirement.. Were there no good OH prospects on draft pick? She's already got MB when they traded with Pink Spiders...Too many MB already..

Now Becky is injured... so no no OH scoring at all...

    Pink Spiders:

    - Their performance is really depending on Lee Jae Young performance... She haven't performed well this season..

    - I don't know about domination, but they have a better team compare to last season... at least in MB position..

  • It's not the first time Park Jeong Ah not MVP, despite most scoring....

Hillstate in danger to become the team that have 0 win in the league in the end of this season with their performance...they need a major change....

Both team have no foreigner, but Hillstate is the one that most affected...

If you look at the image from my previous post showing the draft result, The image show Jeong Ji-Yun with position (R, C, L) and Sim Mi-Og with position (L, C). You may have already noticed that Korean refer OH as Left (L), OP as Right (R), and MB as Center (C). Despite being classed as MB, the first two players Hyundai picked in the draft, can also play on the wings too. I haven't watch them play in high school volleyball but from what I remember of them during AVC junior tournament they play as OH/OP. So don't worry too much about position too much, I have seen players chance position often in the Korean league. With the retirement of HYM, thats why I think Hyundai using Kim Ju-Hyang as OH toward the end of last year.

I'm sure if GS Caltex didn't pick OH Park Hye-Min in Round 1, my guess is Hyundai would have definitely have selected her. Hye-Min was label as the best receiver out of all the rookie. Also during Round 2, if I was Hyundai and OP Lee Ye-Sol (drafted by KGC in Round 2, 2nd pick) was still available, then I might have chosen her. Ye-Sol kind of remind me of Hwang Youn-Joo, in her final year in high school she start receiving. The only other noticeable OH was KO Ui-Jeong (drafted by KGC in Round 2, 5th pick).

Yeah Park Jeong-Ah was the top scorer but Yoo Seo-Yeun also play well too. Seo-Yeun had less of the ball but had slightly better success rate, plus she also got 3 service aces.

From the new article regarding Ivana leaving, it also look like Hyundai are also trying to find a player to replace Becky too.

I saw the article about Ivana before the yesterday match too but I wasn't sure if it was correct at the time as there was only that one article. I thought Hi-pass would have given her at least up to the end of Round 2 to get her form back, after all she help bring them their first championship.

Both Heungkuk new recruits OH Kim Mi-Youn and Kim Se-Young have been disappointing. Both are struggling in attack with poor success rate plus Mi-youn is kind of shaky in reception too.

  • News Update:

    • Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-pass have announced that Senegalese OP Fatou Diouck will replaced Ivana Nesovic as their foreign player. In the previous V-League season, Diouck was playing for GS Caltex where she was 3rd highest point score with 811 points with the 2nd best success rate of 43.20% and was awarded Round 6 MVP. Diouck was currently playing in Thailand for Supreme Chonburi but she will join up with Hi-pass once all relevant paperwork have been completed. Source: 1, 2, 3
