Hubert Wagner Memorial 2018

  • Sclater looked OK. Antiga had to give Vernon playing time.

Agreed. Sclater is okay but his reception skills can be of use as opposite or an OH for Antiga in some games.

  • There's not too many back-up setters in the world that could be as good as the prime setter of a national team much less take a team as dominant as Russia to a tiebreak.

Those players are used to worst conditions than the all of the canadian players combined and you could see the difference in class especially on the final touch because the attackers are not used to the intimidating russian block.

  • This Poland match is looking eerily like a final test for Poletaev. Almost all of the balls are going to him. His face is almost on the edge of tearing up. He probably thinks he should be doing better than what he've shown.

I was only able to watch 4th set onwards, but just checked the stats Poletaev had 50% efficiency (9/18) same as Mikhaylov (14/28) I think he is doing fine. He should be used to the pressure of scoring the most points even in his club. Also, is Klikua injured or the coach did not let him play any of these games on purpose?
