    Kantoku is manager (properly translated), there is also head coach (heddo kochi). Japan also uses assistant (ashisutanto kochi) as well.


    Manabe is the GM, so he is making the calls on players, while Takeshita (kantoku per Himeji website) coaches the team. She does have two coaches and a manager (I am guessing that the manager in this case makes all the travel arrangements, and makes sure everything is available for the team on game day).

    Himeji remains undefeated. They have four new players I can't find a romanization for yet. One of them came in mid set 1 and took 18/49 swings, compare to Oliveira-17/48. Yuka Kanasugi subbed in set 2, went 1/11, sat back down. Yuki Kawai (S) was 5/8. Must have been from the dump train as I don't see her as an attacker.

    #14 Rie Takaki 5/10 and 4 blocks in 2 sets. She's fabulous and 36! One of my favorite players to watch.

    Yuki Kawai only played a set and a half. I didn't know Himeji even had another setter.


    The two Himeji matches from last weekend are available to watch for free at V.League TV. They don't broadcast any of them live but apparently there is only a seven day waiting period for On-Demand (compared to 30 days for V1 matches).

    Watching the Himeji v Kashiwa game from last week, the 12th. At 4-6 in Set 2 Suere Oliveira went down and called for play to stop. Looks like her right ankle:




    After a bit she got up and did a few two footed hops at the instruction of someone. She walked off the court okay, and returned to play later in the set, and finished the game.


    She is not listed on the stat sheets for the games this weekend, the 19th and 20th. Don't know what might be going on.

    Sads. Himeji finally got beat. Gunma Bank is the third place team with only 3 losses on the season. Himeji was still playing without their foreigner for most of the match. Oli Evasive Angles Las Jer was brought in for the Tie-Break to try and salvage a win, but alas. Still don't know the extent of her injury.


    JA Gifu also got beat by Toyota--their second win on the season. What's up with that?

    According to the V2 Women's schedule, it looks like they are doing a Final 6 only, no Final 3 or Final.


    So the Top 6 teams make the Final 6, and I would probably guess that it will 5-0 with starting points and it will be a round robin. Team with the most points after the Final 6 wins.


    Himeji has clinched Final 6 spot, as V2 is a double round robin, so 18 matches.
