Chinese NT 2019

  • China and Brazil have played SEVEN TIMES in the WORLD CUP, and their results are in a relative balance, with China winning 4 and losing 3, slightly in the upper hand.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, China lost to Brazil in all three competitions in 1981, 1985 and 1991; in the mid and late 1990s, Brazil won twice in 1995 and 1999; in the 21st century, China won two matches, 3-1 in 2003 and 3-2 in 2011.

From 2008 to 2016, Chinese women's volleyball team had an embarrassing record of 18 CONSECUTIVE DEFEATS against Brazil. With the change of the strength comparison between the two sides, China's victory rate in the confrontation between the two teams has greatly increased. From the performance of the first stage in Yokohama, China's momentum is booming, the vast majority of the main players have been adjusted to the best state, not afraid to compete with any team!

The match against the U.S. team was the most regarded one for the Chinese team since the two teams remained on top of the table, both were unbeaten after six matches. The U.S. team was considered as the strongest contender in this quadrennial tournament. Now passing through the U.S. team successfully, the Chinese team has established the unprecedented opportunity to become the FIVE TIMES CHAMPION of the WORLD CUP, and Lang Ping herself can also become the FIRST person in the volleyball history to win the WORLD CUP both as a player and a coach! As long as the winning streak keeps on occurring in the remaining matches, the Chinese team is going to realize such achievement! :drink:

  • I hope they'll not let their guards down.

If you do learn about Lang Ping's thoughts from various news coverage, interviews and documentations, of course you'll be rest assured that Lang won't! Only fans may do so :-) One does not really hold the trophy until the table calc clearly express so, in "points" :-)

  • Still no Zheng Yixin today 😞

Lang still hides this cutie  what a pity Zheng did not play today, but she still has a chance for a cameo show time in Osaka, most likely against ARG. But Zeng Chunlei is still off too. Just didn't grasp it why Zhang and Gong were on court today, why not Liu XT & Zeng CL.

  • Zhu Yuan Zhang, Chinese team's three ace attackers, joining forces to repel oppositions

This time, China has such a strong performance, thanks to the three ace attackers Zhu Ting, Yuan Xinyue and Zhang Changning combined forces. From 2013 to 2015, Zhu Yuan Zhang were the top players in the national team, jointly playing in the 2015 World Cup, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the 2018 World Championship and this year's World Cup. Previously, besides Zhu Ting's top performances in all major competitions, there were some big fluctuations among Yuan Xinyue and Zhang Changning. Only in this World Cup, the three players are at the same time adjusted to the best state.

The Captain Zhu Ting played a key role. Although her attacks in match against the Brazilian team occasionally got blocked at different stages, she quickly adjusted her condition. The excellent performance in the match against the U.S. team proves that Zhu really exists in the main offensive line. Zhu Ting has not only topped the spike list with 55.28% success rate, but also finished the subsequent rounds in Sapporo in the scoring table with 126 points.

Yuan Xinyue and Zhang Changning's performances at last year's World Championships were highly criticized. This time, they are both vindicated. In the first fierce match against the Brazilian squad, Yuan Xinyue scored 26 points, which was also praised by the opponent coach, Ze Roberto Guimaraes. Yuan Xinyue's blocking, attacking and the small ball in front of the net have made progress, ranking fourth in the blocking list. Zhang Changning was in a better state than expected, and the U.S. team had no choice but to make vigorous adjustments in their match against the Chinese team. Zhang Changning ranked second in the spike table with a success rate of 48.46%, and sixth in the serving table, demonstrating her initiative scoring capability.

I just realized that the team might want to put Zhang 'Bao' on the table race (never thought about those individual yardsticks earlier)... it's pity even unfair to deny her such opportunity when she does have by skipping her from simple tasks and having her to carry heavy loads only.

Haha, I think we deserve to get mvp+2 OH + MB + Setter (assuming we win) , but you never know with these individual awards.

Most of the girls just care about the gold medal anyways. Also a lot of the best players didn't start in the matches vs. the easy teams which lulls their numbers down.

  • So only Gong is left out of winning an award. It will be hard since best OP is decided by scoring points. She should receive a special all around OP award.

That's true. Miya Sato is currently ahead of Ding Xia statistically, but I think even if Ding Xia surpasses her, Japan as hosts will give it to Sato. Same goes for the libero position.

  • Liu Xiao-tong and Zheng Yi-xin will temporarily take a break in tomorrow's match. Liu Xiao-tong was injured in the waist before the team training in the last station, Osaka. In order to alleviate her injury, and also to keep Liu Yan-han, who is more aggressive, Lang Ping arranged her as the fourth main attacker. While in the middle blocker line-up, the team is still facing some inadequacy. Both Yuan and Yan are very stable, but the team still lacks the third middle blocker offence with sufficient strength as a supplement. Zheng Yi-xin is fast, but she may not have an advantage in facing strong European teams such as the Dutch and Serbian squads. Wang Yuan-yuan has her characteristics, but is far from mature.

Lang takes the matches against the Dutch team and Serbian team very seriously, there is no relaxed atmosphere. She is still polishing the details in the team training during the off days to deal with the two remaining strong teams, which possess strong attackers. Lang Ping definitely does not take these two opponents lightly.

The spirit of the Chinese women's volleyball team contains the words of never giving up, and following is the Lang Ping's guidance: "In the process of realizing your dream, you will encounter many difficulties. We should carry forward the spirit of never giving up to overcome it." It is this spirit that inspires generations of Chinese women's volleyball players, so that they can also get out of the trough, never give up when facing difficulties, and can deal with strong oppositions time and again.

People say that hard-working people are the most beautiful, therefore it's so appropriate to apply that saying on the women's volleyball girls. Chinese people love them not because they always win, occasionally they suffer defeat too, but because the girls are always working hard to overcome their challenges. Their faces are always filled with sunshine and confidence. Witnessing the girls' fighting spirit and straightforward characters in their endeavours, they are so lovely, and Chinese people are not blind!

  • samsara thank you for sharing, I can't stop smiling reading your post. I mean, who doesn't realize how focus these women and we know it's not an easy journey for them with all the pressure they have. I hope this team will win all the games in the World Cup.
