Thai NT 2019

  • Do you have any new details about Pimpichaya's injury?

The coach gave an interview early this month that she had an injury during practice at her knee.

He didn't say much but said she needs at least 4 weeks for recovery.

Pornpun will have to miss the Montreux Masters as well as she just went through a surgery last month.

  • Someone said this list might be the same list for VNL. If so, both Pimpichaya and Hattaya are missing from the list.

ah ok, well, i'm perfectly ok with this wide roosters if it will be the same in both events. I hope to see Wanitchaya, Jutarat, Tichakorn, Thanacha and Kaewkalaya to all get a chance at some point during VNL or at least volley masters to test their skills or just learn from being there.

  • ONJ Know anything why Chatchu-on wasn't playing much during this first week? Does she have some minor injury? The times that she entered the court, she was actually a bit more effective than Ajcharaporn was. Hopefully she isn't and both her and Wanitchaya gets more court time in week 2.

As far as I know, Chutchu-on is totally fine.

They’re trying the new system with faster speed. I think that’s why they keep Ajcharaporn and Onuma on court even though they had problems scoring. To help them get used to the new speed.

Chutchu-on seems to be ok adjusting. So doesn’t need to be on court as much. That’s what I think. Haha.

  • good to know she is fine.

I think it's time Thailand try something new with their coaching staff. Speed isn't going to help too much, when you can't block well either. Fast plays and combo aren't as effective as it used to be in the early 2000s for them. Every taller teams are just anticipating those combo plays and seem to not fall for the first decoys so much anymore and just wait for the second real spiker now.

Try hiring new trainers, staff etc, even if they are foreigners and try training the taller teens. Even if those teens are not as skillful as some of the shorter ones. You need height to help both in attacks and blocking. So many points are being earned by opponents due to not being able to block/stop them.

Imagine if Dream, Nattida, Chitaporn and Thatdao were trained by Italy's coaching staff for the Thai NT. They would be so much better in both attacking, jumping and blocking. lol

I would really like to see a future Thai nt with height ranging from 180-186/7 cm if possible, with exception of players like libero and setter. But that might be a little too much to ask lol. With that height range, not too short, but not too tall either and can still be nimble, agile enough to move and dive around to save balls. But most importantly, can attack and block better.

    That's a fair point.

However, if you walk along the busy streets of Bangkok, how many 175+ cm girls you think you will meet?

Close to none. And BKK is a city with more than 10 millions people.

I think it's ideal to find more tall girls for the team. Not just tall, they have to be willing to play volleyball and have discipline enough to handle tough NT schedule. That's not an easy task.

Having said that, I do agree about foreign staff :)

  • yes, sadly Thailand like japan, doesn't have the height advantage like China and South Korea.

The other day, I saw a youtube video of the tallest children from around the world and Thailand has one girl called Malee feature in it. She is a humongous 212 cm, making her the record holder for tallest girl/women in the world currently. But yeah anyway, this goes back to the point you made about the playing and discipline part.

sigh.............we can only dream for the time being hahaha

  • Thailand!, what is going on? lol You guys have already slide from 10,13 and now currently 15th place among the 16 teams with the start of the second week. I thought you guys would improve from last year, but seems like you guys just keep declining and declining with each game. I don't expect you guys to win all the matches, but at least take them to 5 setter games or even just take a set.

Good luck with the game vs South Korea and Belgium later this week. Still cheering for you guy. Su Su!

  • ONJ I recently saw a youtube clip of a 19 year old 192 cm beach volleyball girl named Yodsaphat Pakham. She seems fast, good blocker, strong hitter, agile and mobile. Do you anything more about her?

I wonder, has she consider switching to indoors? haha

  • blue1234 There’s a lot of discussion about her on Thai webboard. No one really knows why she hasn’t switched to indoor. But the fact that she’s playing beach volleyball in NT tells you she’s not unknown by the coaches and TVA. People believe she makes decision to stay on the beach volleyball team.

  • ahh, I would really like to see what she see can do indoors :'( but at least the coaches are aware of her and maybe one day she might just change her mind ;)....I believe China's Zhang Changning was also a beach player before she switched to indoors.

maybe if Dream goes to beach for a year or two and build some muscle, she might just be able to make it to the indoor NT this time. hahaha
